What caught the cop's attention was a leaf stuck to the window... I guess he mistook it for a pot leaf sticker. So he followed the driver and pulled him over for failing to signal 100+ft from an intersection.
He basically admits to pulling him over for a 'pro-pot' message. The driver is black so a racial profiling accusation has been leveled at the cop, and that may hold up unless the cop has pulled over white people for pot stickers - or leaves stuck to car windows lol.
Was the cop racial profiling? Did he see a black motorist and stereotype him as being a pot smoker? Well, I guess he would have been stereotyping a pro-pot speaker of being a pot smoker. There's plenty about this case to be angry about, I suspect the cop wouldn't have been 'triggered' to respond if the driver was white, but he effectively punished the guy for his speech. Now the driver was released without citation, they searched the car and didn't find evidence of drugs. But still...
