KhaNESIII: A House Not Standing

ill make sure I send in my orders tomorrow, at the latest, late Friday night.

I'll give it another 24 hours for stragglers, and I'll probably hold orders for Update 1 for now.

The update itself might be slow in coming, but I will finish this NES damn it whatever RL throws my way. Just don't expect prompt updating. :p

Just as an update, I've had some computer trouble and I have to sit a makeup exam on the 17th. However, after that updating will continue on schedule.

I have not forgotten about this! :p

This delay is unacceptable! Never would such an affront have been tolerated under Emperor Jefferson! This is what the foolishness of democracy has wrought over our once great land! Join the cause of re-instituting the Empire so that we shall no longer have to suffer under such setbacks! :p

Christ almighty, I'm gonna have to liberate all your asses and bring some democracy to this god-forsaken continent.

Is it too late for me to join this as one of the NPC factions? I've only recently discovered NESes and so really haven't the least idea what I'm doing, but this one seems extremely interesting and I'd certainly like to learn more about playing. I'll do my best not to commit any horrible breaches of NES etiquette if I'm allowed to join.

It's not too late, and its not too late to send orders either since I don't get my AHNS computer back till tomorrow (though everybody else has sent orders so diplomacy might be difficult).

On that note, I get my AHNS computer back tomorrow so work on the update will start then. No ideas when it'll finish, but probably within a week.

Excellent, and many thanks! Sign me up as the newly-independent Apache Nation (I'm sure I'll get creamed very quickly, but they look like an interesting group to play as.) I'll send some orders in later but won't conduct any diplomacy, so as not to delay the game.
A couple of other questions, though, to clarify some things in my mind:

1) I'd assume the government in this timeline still tried to "civilize" the Apache. However, were they forced onto reservations, or were they more or less left alone, perhaps being traded with? I have an interesting idea that perhaps the Apache in this world ended up more like one of the "Five Civilized Tribes"; that is, adopting some European traditions and being treated as only slightly inferior by the American government (which, based on Washington's real-life views, is not completely implausible.)

2) Could you explain what the extent of mining operations in the west was in this world? You'd mentioned that the Southern aristocracy had shipped slaves out to conduct some of it, but was there a major gold rush to the area or were the mineral deposits developed more slowly? This will probably affect our attitudes towards any ex-slaves in the region and also our potential to develop any remaining mineral resources.

Thank you again for letting me join in!
