Kill Bill

I liked the first part better, the second one seems too cut together at some points (when Daryl Hannah lets out the snake while Uma makes her way to the trailer).

But all in all it is an outstanding movie.

Anyone else notice the Reservoir Dogs references? (knife in the boot the same, in reservoir dogs Tim Roth makes Fantastic Four references,...)

Then why didn't I like it

'Kill Bill Part I' is what I feared it would be from the previews...unbelievable violence (Matrix/Crouching Lhama), ridiculous characters, rather ordinary dialogue and the most appallingly poor depiction of a hospital ever. Also, it wasn't particularly funny and 'Buck' who like to **** was just a clone of the whole gimp thing in Pulp Fiction.

I'm glad to hear that 'Kill Bill Part II' is more character driven for that is what I enjoyed about 'Reservoir Dogs' and 'Pulp Fiction' amongst other things.

The best part of 'Kill Bill I'? The female Japanese gangster in the schoolgirl uniform armed with the ball and chain, excellent ;) The other good thing was when she is trying to get her toe to move I was able to crack the joke to my mates this was like me trying to get up every single morning :D

Saw Vol. 2 last night and enjoyed it immensely. Tarentino always uses incredible soundtracks that can really enhance the experience ten fold.

For those of you who were a bit disturbed by the violence and fountains of blood spurting from the limbless stumps of the butchered, you have to take into consideration the inspiration for this movie: anime. The cinematography and directing were organized to mimic the Japanese 'cartoon' form of martial arts flicks. Those movies are never too sparing when it comes to blood. From the anime I've had the pleasure of viewing, Tarentino did a terrific job of bringing the movie genre into the 'real world'.

The soundtrack for Kill Bill is very good, hell, artistically the whole film was very impressive, I just found I couldn't take it seriously.

I just saw the second one, not havign seen the first.

I liked it alot. Parts of it are parodies, really, but in a kind way - Tarentino loves genres and he loves to make fun of them nicely. But it was also good, the characters very real. Her killing Bill is very old school, and strange, because they still love each other.

I shall go out and rent the first now.

BTW, I don't think you need the see the first to enjoy the second.

My GF said that she could understand Bill and his "overreaction" and suggested that it would be a cool ending if they live happily ever after.

Now I am really scared :help:

Well, it is 1:19 am and I'm just back from watching 'Kill Bill Volume 2' and I'm bloody glad I chose to do so (even though it means only a few hours sleep before I have to get up and prepare my lessons that I have to teach later today) as it was extremely good.

As another poster commented, the 2nd part is far more character driven and is as a result much more interesting as is the violence which is more believable, though not truely credible.

I won't post any spoilers at present as I don't want to ruin it for others and I want to head off to sleep, but before I do, I'll just say that I thought that the 2nd part made this film a masterpiece!

:)

Vol 2 was disappointing. Lots of people are saying that it's more dialogue and character-driven, not so much action, which is true, but the dialogue - from the man who gave us True Romance and Pulp Fiction - was very poor. Get a script editor, QT, don't be too proud to get help!
It may not have helped that I went to a late screening and was a bit tired by the end, but it could have been 30 minutes shorter.
I still liked it, but it could have been better.

Curt you're a idiot I am Japanese and enjoyed kill bill vol 1 I did not find anything racist in it at all. If you know you're history most samurais/ninjas are Japanese so of course Kill Bill would be killing alot of asians. Cause this movie copied alot from the matrix movie.

You didn't just revive a two year-old thread to flame someone, did you?

*rubs eyes*

Wow, makes we want to go rent them. Both were absolutely awesome.

I still post stuff about september 911 and that was 6 years ago.

This post just happen to appear when I was trying to do a civ4 custom music search.

Tarantino has proved that one can make a name for himself by simply making movies targeted solely at the most immature of teenagers. His characters have nothing below the absolute surface; his plots are again sensationalist and shallow; the actors are always the same. A good proof that there is a place for everyone in art, since there is an audience for everything.

Both films are copies of other Japanese movies it's really just a big hats off to Japanese/Chinese etc etc movie writers. A sort of homage to martial arts films.

I think pulp fiction was a great movie with some fine characters, they weren't fully fleshed out but that was the nature of the film. Also get shorty was excellent too, and reservoir dogs, I gotta totally disagree here. I also liked Jackie Brown with R De Niro and Sameul L Jackson if for nothing else the line:

AK 47 for when you absolutely gotta kill every last MF in the room :)

I also liked the Vampire film with him in it. From dusk till dawn, good movie, sequels sucked though.

While I don't think Tarantino's films exhibit racism towards Asians, his nonblack/white characters are a bit stereotypical.
Can't say I found any character in Kill Bill remotely believable.

Same here but then that's kinda the point, have you ever watched Enter The Dragon or Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon?
