King of the World #14: Earth18

Is there a chance the China could win anything before you get out of Europe? Guessing a domination victory would be difficult, but with all of the vassals and expansion being done Qin might be able to pull something off.

I like the Europe push for England, but I'd check some diplo first to see where some of the other characters stand. Freddie might be too hard to do anything about and it'd be a bummer to take stuff from him before you 'move in'.

Don't forget that you're at war with practically the entire new world at this point. Never know if Monte might show up with some forces, so might be nice to get some peace (though with Monte it can be a while).

Any chance to possibly launch a spaceship with any of your late-game manifestations?

Definitely destroy the French, after that either the Romans or Germans. Rome has been getting its ass kicked around the world for the last few rounds anyways and their land is a bit better than Germany's, so I'd definitely say he's next on the chopping block.

Slay the french and conquer Rome. Europa is rightfully yours don;t just let Rome fortify and deny you the marvellous religious architecture of Madrid or the glories of Paris. Even the eternal city must fall.

As an Englishman, I would like to add my voice to those calling for the conquest of Europe. France should be v easy, subject to diplo, then Rome, then maybe Germany. Let's be honest, you aren't going to win this, even if you can cheat and end up playing as Catherine and not Roosevelt. But I think you should stick to the plan and do the best you can for whoever you are at the time, and it will be interesting to see how it ends up. And if Qin wins, you know that you made the difference, so you can still take the credit :-)

If you don't want to play as Roosevelt in the end, go and grab yourself an american empire. You are already at war with them (US, Aztecs, Inca) and they are backward. Roosevelt doesn't even know rifling.

Let Europa for Germany or Russia

You may have to go raze a Monty coastal city to get him to understand your peaceful intensions. :mischief:

You have 2 options come Roosevelt. PLay him out to the end trying for a space win against the inept AI at Noble, or play him 40 turns and end the game being satisfied you got through all leaders. Either way it's been a great game!

NOW, we ddemand you play this again in reverse history, starting with Roosevelt!

I say for this game a roosevelt domination win, how ever long that takes. I want to see if it is possible

I know it kind of goes against the spirit of the game, but it might be fun to take over one of the upcoming middle-of-the-pack European powers and play them out to the end.

You deserve a win at the end of this game, not to mention that it will be more fun for everyone than a dismal turnset (is time victory enabled?) as FDR, watching Qin run out the clock, or maybe even launch a spaceship.

England is probably up too early, but Germany might be a good place for the king of the world to make a final stand. It would be a challenge, but you'd have the help of late-game UU and UBs.

Or, if you don't want to play as Roosy, you can always take your turns as England and try hard to wipe him out. If you get rid of him completely, then you don't have to play as him :)

This just proves what I already knew about the AI and gifting it's vassals techs-- It's seriously broken.

How so? I routinely gift techs to my vassals, often much more than the hard-cap on the AI code allows the AI to do. It's only broken when combined with the peacevassal flip-flopping that happens on high levels (not sure if it happens on lower levels as well).

In other news, it will be interesting to see how much havoc Neal can cause in 40 turns with such a tech lead ;)

I agree with the conquest of europe - but get Oil first. Get North Africa or even better: Grab the oil on the South American coast, since it's an easy grab. Monty has cities in SA and propably won't be able to reinforce troops from his mainland. You don't really want to conquer SA - just hold the oil until peace breaks out.

Well, going to Europe clearly depends of the finale Neal wants for this game. Surely it is the best thing for England to do now, but going Europe meas pretty much you are gimping Germany ( and probably Russia ) chances of winning the game, and to say the truth, England at this point has 0 chances of winning the game in the hands of a AI, no matter what Neal do in the turns he has. IMHO going to Europe with England , because of the above, resumes to pretty much giving the game to QSH to win ( or , with a good dose of luck, to Monty ... but I'm skeptical of seeing that bonehead doing anything sensible from now on ). Is that what you want, Neal?

Couldn't you, as Inca, have taken French Ireland?

Rule Britannia! Take Oil ASAP..... Destroy the pitiful French, and Rome around Europe.

I think the main objective for the final stages of the game should be setting up Germany, America, or Russia for a victory, or crippling China without purposely losing the game (I lost the game). IE: Don't purposely leave England undefended so Germany can take it, that would be cheating. Try to strengthen England without hurting a country you can actually win as. Work on destroying Rome's iron grip on Europe, or try to hurt China via any means possible.

How about trying to destroy America so you can finish off the game as Cathy? I honestly think at this point, that would be the only way you could achieve a victory at the end of this mess.
