King of the World #5 has ended with Isabella ruling with an iron fist over a broken, Christian world. I honestly think I'm going to take a week or two off, both to recharge my Civ batteries and to catch up on some Grad School stuff that I'd been neglecting.

Until then, there is the ever-popular "Who's next" question to consider. I figured I'd do this the right way, rather than going off the first few requests to catch my eye.

So, what do you think?

Neal buddy,

This is my first post, but a longtime fan of the series: a word of warning to you.......The Incan game is going to be frustrating as hell, are you ready for that so soon after the Mali game? Choose Persia, or Arabia. Between giant empires, has the protential for huge economies.... plus you can master the names of cities of the Asian interior.

We haven't seen a new world since you did Monty a year ago.

I think its time to show Monty who's boss and play Roosevelt, however it may turn into another pure military game like Izzy. Perhaps Huayna, would be a challenge, possibly the worst start.

We have seen Africa, Europe and the far east, fairly recently, the near east and new world haven't been featured, Saladin and Cyrus could be good for near east conquests or religious economy's(mostly Saladin).

Either Saladin or Roosevelt would make good choices, not the best starts, one starts in desert with moderate land, one starts next to a psychopath who takes military advice from a skull.

Saladin however may turn out to be too much like your Mansa game, dealing with pope Cyrus, trying to kill Egypt.

Roosevelt is the better choice, land wise America is strong, but next to ...him....after that it is catch up with what will most likely be Cathy. Maybe a "cold war" of sorts would be a nice way...possibly a real space race with appropriate powers.

Sooo...I say have fun with nut job Monty, advanced Cathy and what I hope will be more appropriate city names...no Miami in Alaska or Boston in Chicago

good job BTW on your win, can you imagine it if you were playing Rome!...Prat Rush into the AD's FTW

Edit:
Number 7 should be Arabia
Number 8 should be Mongolia
Number 9 should be a European, or around Europe, leader

I voted Mongolia, but Inca would be interesting too. IMO it's not nearly as hard as some imply (I find the Mali start weaker) - you do start with gold, your western partition of S. America has access to copper, and once you have iron working the land to the east is spectacular (and actually not too distant from the capitol). HC with GLH can even settle an island city or two and ring up the commerce via trade.

His main problems are twofold - dealing with monty which isn't TOO bad because he can be :backstab: while he's after roosy, and the annoyance of waypointing units to a galley, then having the galley shuttle them over, then ordering them to move again. Although you actually don't lose any movement from this until engineering/railroads, it's annoying, and probably the #1 reason I haven't played inca as much as other civs on this map.

I voted Liz. I really wanted to see the end to that bismark game, so in essence I want to see a game with one european power (Owning all of Europe) going mono e mono with another super power.

Or you could do something with Britians sea power.

Would you consider using the Earth34Civs map when you say mod in a new leader?

I already told my opinion....

About Incas.... I played it recently on monarch and it is less hard than I thought. But prepare to be swarmed by barbs as soon as you settle in the other side of the Andes ;)

Ya no matter the leader definatly notch up the difficulty. I voted for asoka anyways and think you should go with one of the asian leaders no matter...

I voted for asoka-he is one of my favorite warmongers (!) with his org/spi combo

I think a North or South American game would be great now since there has been so much lately with North Africa/Europe/Middle East in the last two games.

However, I failed to see the "Mod in new leader" option until after I had voted. Some interesting options, and I think it'd be cool to see Ragnar of the Vikings thrown into a game perhaps after this one.

I agree, this mod is a lot of fun!

I would go so far as to push for the Giant Earth Map, that is an insane amount of fun... if you can tolerate the long wait between turns (and your comp is better than recommended system requirements).

Otherwise i voted for Mongolia, ive never tried them on the earth map.

Speaking of which, how to edit it to get rid the annoying abbreviated names? Those bug me way more than they should...

Notepad (or actually it's a bit easier in word) editing of the scenario file. Right click on it, open it up in word, and scroll down to the leaders. You can name them anything you want!

To quote a former HOF admin:
Khaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaan!

Doing 2 american civs in the first 6 sounds a bit early... Most of the civs are from the rest of the world...
