Lazy-NES Organizer/Discussion Thread

If that Spacefarers game can be considered a Lazy NES, I'd love to see that one revived.

*Enters really, really late to the party. Seriously, it's so late the party is no longer going on and I walked into the middle of dinner the next day*

Hi everyone!

I'm sorry to see RfMK III dead. It had a good, long run though, and I agree with all Choxorn's and BL's reasons for letting it die. It just got too unwieldy at the end, too many things to process. It was similar to playing Civ 4 in real life- except instead of your computer's processor doing all the work, you have a guy at a desk, having to do all the math, calculations, trade, everything himself.

I feel sort of bad I bailed on Choxorn halfway through the game. My life just didn't allow me to GM a game like this, but it was sort of cold to say "here you go, I don't have time so you do ALL THE WORK BWAHAHA". I apologize, Chox.

I actually spent some time (after I realized the game was dying- I only checked in once every few months, but still) writing up a few pages-long epilogue for us, but the flash drive I had it saved on died. Sigh. And now I don't remember enough to write another one. :)

I still don't have time to GM anything else- my life has changed too much for that. However, if anyone else wants to start one, I will be more than happy to play.

Well, I had time for a few months a year ago, cause it was summer and all. I just thought you'd have time to help me again later.

So, this is a call for a GM, who wants to pick it up?

I'd volunteer, but I've never seen a Lazy NES game on these forums, let alone played one, doubley-let alone GM one. Go figure.

:(

Fie to this ten-character limit.

I'm interested. A lazy NES seems like a good way to pop one's NES cherry...

I would co-mod one of these if it starts in December time, roughly 10 or 11 of December. You might want a reserve mod for when I have to drop out temporarily 'cause of minor RL events such as GCSE exams. Plenty of ideas floating around in the NES forums, where these really belong (trust me there are NESes with no rules, beat that for laziness and simplicity.)

For example NEB: One Thousand and One Ways to Die was a very simple, though at the same time awesomely deep, NES set in a fictional country, Soldia, falling into civil war and the various factions fighting for dominance. I ultimately won, though became a race of AI robots in the process, and had the neighbours of Soldia eyeing me up for invasion. A similar thing could be done here. Or any other kind of strategic or tactical war game could easily be designed to meet your lazy-NES criteria, which is, in a nut-shell, keep it simple. For those who prefer not to fight endless wars, a frontier game could be done where you play as a single character, or outpost, or small group of people and have to survive in a frontier world, trading, exploring etc. Or a RP NES in any setting could be made without even writing a detailed rule-set. Really the world is your oyster as far as settings go. Just pick one and see where it takes you.

Hey, we have two volunteers for GM! Now we just have to wait until December.

Or maybe we could start it, do the sign-ups and maybe a few turns in late November when tailless has time, then Vertinari can GM too when he has time.

Well if we want to get sign-ups and the designing done before November/December time we need an idea of what the lazy-NESer community wants, assuming taillesskangaru will mod with me. Do you guys want me to start a new thread with a poll and as many different setting as I can think of to further development or shall we continue here?
