And even when they're revealed it might happen that it's actually not what they announced first. Remember Julias Caesar's additional Military Policy card slot when conquering its first capital, or Mbande Nzinga's ability toward trade routes much more engaging that the watered down Lady Six Skies?

It wouldn't surprise me if those problems are the reason we don't see the abilities early. It could be that the social media team needs to build their previews earlier than they get confirmation that the abilities won't change. So it's just safer to not build the previews with abilities.

I may be blind, but I see no beard clipping into chest? There is a distance between where the beard ends and the chest starts, as indicated by the shadow behind the beard.
its not in the screenshot, its in the video posted to twitter today. theres another thread for it on the forum. heres a pic of how it looks in the vid, it goes from fully above the clothes to mostly under, then right back
Spoiler beard clipping :

You're right, it's not clipping through his chest per se. However, it's clearly clipping through his shirt:

Little hard to see non-animated, but animated, you clearly see the beard going through the shirt (at 0:12 in the twitter video).

I see. I don't have nor use Twitter, didn't notice the other thread, and there was nothing on YouTube (I watch the Civ announcement vids there) at the moment I was writing that, so I didn't know and assumed people were still talking about the picture.

It does punch one in the eyes when seeing the white shirt flash through the black beard though, you're right.

Why does this bother you so much? You'll know everything in 2-3 days. None of this is so important that it should be causing so much stress and frustration.

Y'all need to chill out.
I know where he's coming from. I don't see why they can't release the info about abilities a week ahead, so there can be more public discussion and theorizing. I see what you're saying, a couple days isn't going to kill us, but why not throw us a bone, reveal the abilities, and generate more interest.

It's more fun to discuss the leaders prior to drop. Hear what people think, what cool strategies you can maybe do, things like that. I don't see the harm in releasing that info a little early.

As I said before, I think they want to show off the art assets this time since most of the work went into that part of the pack. We can get the game mechanics later.

I would say that theorizing is what we fanatics do the best, no matter how much info or little info we have, regardless. :)

I 100% know what you are saying. I don't think that changes the underlying fact though that there is a lot more things to discuss about a leader's abilities than how the model looks.

In the end though, I don't see why they can't do both. If they have plans for a release on thursday just reveal the 3 leaders and abilities Monday-Tuesday-Wednesday and release on Thursday. It builds up much more hype and is also a better marketing strategy, most likely. Anyways, models and abilities are not mutually exclusive, I don't see why we can't be getting both at once, I don't see how it would detract either of them if they were both released at once.

Ultimately, I don't see why any of this matters. You'll have everything revealed in 2-3 days.

personally, i like it when my first time playing as a civ is after having had time to mull over their abilities and brainstormed how id want a game to go, preferably a few days. as-is, ive either gotta think thru the intricacies of how an ability will alter a game plan on the fly while playing the civ, which doesnt feel as nice, or intentionally hold off on playing a civ thats already released to give me that time, which also doesnt feel nice. plus its just kinda frustrating to not have the abilities yet when the leaders are only a few short days away. is it the worst thing in the world? no. but theres only so poorly they can handle the reveal of completely free leaders (for those with all previous dlc) being added to a game most thought would not be recieving any more dlc, thats a pretty sweet deal. the worst they could do is "pretty dang frustrating" and id say theyre at a solid "a smidge frustrating, juuust enough to complain about" which is disappointing

It's not really that bad that they aren't giving us the First Looks in advance, except that they had already been doing so for 6 years. This is a backslide in community service. At least we will likely learn the abilities in the Livestream. Maybe that's what this is about; they're trying to increase viewership of the livestream.

I just don't see the point in releasing a FL at the same time as the pack release. It seems rather superfluous at that point. Releasing a FL before the livestream is not only more conducive for fan discussion, but builds hype for the impending release. The way they've been going about the marketing for the LP seems haphazard at best.

If so, that seems to be a poor way of going about it. I would say most people would rather watch a five minute video highlighting the LUA, rather than sit through an hour long stream trying to glean some info.

One thing interesting about these videos is that Chinese theme music matches the era these rulers ruled. E.g Qin's video has ancient era theme. Wu has classical era theme, and Yongle has Renaissance era theme.

Is it bad that I keep reading "Yongle" as rhyming with "dongle" (like a security USB dongle they used to have with Autocad) ?
I'm not worried but properly it's "yong lay"

I am quite sure Yongle has the atomic Chinese theme. The added percussion which differentiates it from industrial is pretty recognisable in the spotlight.

Are you sure it isn't industrial?
Yes. Atomic themes in general are much more percussion-heavy than the industrial themes are. If you listen closely to the spotlight, you should be able to make out fairly distinct beats. The industrial theme has no such beats in that part.

And in turn, the industrial theme has, in this part, this one sound I'm not exactly sure how to describe. You know, the sound effect you'd probably associate with glitter or sparkle. Like when a fairy waves a magic wand or something. That sound is absent in the atomic theme, and it cannot be heard in the Yongle spotlight either.
