I've noticed that many people distinguish between Lenin and the later Soviet tradition, believing that the ideas of the former differed radically from the latter in terms of the degree of freedom allowed. What's your take on this issue?
How are you defining "great" here? Certainly he had a major impact on the world, but that isn't what I was asking.tomsnowman123 said:While Lenin does have some dark marks on his record, his status as a great political leader is unqestionable.

tomsnowman123 said:He had some interesting and promising political/socialist/communist ideals, and wanted to modernize the Soviet Union by improving the standard of living for all of the citizens. He was an Anti-semitism supporter, he also was against involvement in World War I. I believe those are positive points for him.

tomsnowman123 said:Whoops, that should say he worked against it. I will fix that immediately.
