Let's Discuss Poland

lol! I like people to know that I'm american when I'm abroad. Then they can see how different my ideals and beliefs are from their stereotype of United Statesians ;). I like being an American who can agree with many Europeans views. I find many flabbergasted! lol

Yes, isn't it amazing how badly our mass media represents us? You'd think that we were all under-educated half-wits that wave flags insessantly and practice religious fundamentalism... but really thats only like 80% of us. I, for one, am totally ashamed of that 80%...

@Seras (above): He doesn't have a point. Even a fellow Pole TMarcl agrees.

YOu remind me why I shouldnt stereotype americans :P :scan:
Maybe we could include Poland as a Barbarian State?

lol. now we're just hurting their feelings. I can't flame anymore, I was very close to having my account suspended back in the day lol! But i can still laugh at your flames :D

Its all in good fun, I wouldnt mind seeing a few "Courreurs des Bois" as the special Canadian worker units :P
I mean, what can we laugh at if not ourselves?

A good book to read is "American Theocracy" if you haven't already checked it out. Actually, it isn't as bad as 80%, but studies show that 45% of our voting public actually believes that the scenario of Anti-Christ vs. Jesus / the Rapture / the 'evil' European Union are all LITERALLY true and vote as such. 45% bro. This is terrifying.

Some see it as a flame, I agree with it in principal... I think there should be a lot of "barbarian states" or "minor civs" that spawn up and join you peacefully due to desire to be a part of your culture or are captured through conquest, somewhat like the Rhye's and Fall mod, but I think they should become civs if they last long enough independantly. Poland could definately have a place as one of these, and maybe it would even quiet the dissidents.

Yeah I agree totally. I haven't read "American Theocracy" yet, but I have read "The God Delusion" and "Letter to a Christian Nation." Sam Harris has differnet numbers in the latter, but I think it's at least safe to say that 45% believe it to be true and 25-35% either don't care or arent smart enough to think objectively about it...

Now that is constructive, I hadnt thought of it that way, but as you said, in the mindstate of colonies, these "other" civs could exist...

I've never really understood all this Poland-hype. I wouldn't mind Poland in Civ, but then, I don't really mind who is in Civ. It's just a game. If you get all frothy-mouthed at Charlemagne being the leader of the HRE, or Victoria being included instead of Henry VIII or some such issue, then you'll die young from stress at the many little things that annoy you in everyday life. Honest.

Heh. It's like not being in Civ is comparable to the American ambassador spitting in your face.

It's all just pixels man, pixels on a screen. :smoke:

Wait. What? I think Victoria is far more worthy than Henry "I kicked off centuries of religious war, persecution and strife and assured that present day Britain would be as boring and non-European as possible all because I got bored of boinking my first wife" VIII.
My only complaint about Victoria is that they didn't give her the same sexifying up treatment of all the other female leaders in Civ IV.

I couldn't think of any better arguments. Perhaps 'who should lead the Aztecs' would be a better one. I don't mind whether it's Victoria or Henry VIII, because it's all just pixels on a screen.

And you might want to remember that it's just pixels on a screen when you talk about 'sexifying' the female leaders. :p

Pixels on a screen, cells in a body. Everything is made up of tiny innocuous building blocks if you think about it.

Yeah, my body is just the "analog" version of the leaderheads. Good point though, it goes so many levels... molecules in a cell... atoms in a molecule... sub-atomic particle in an atom... smaller stuff we havent figured out yet in a sub-atomic partivle...
