Let's Talk About the Civs that WON'T Make It In Despite Popularity

Should Australia be added, but scene The Pacific is basically ignored entirely i have little if not no hope so what do you think.

The military history of Australia spans the nation’s 220 year modern history, from the early Australian frontier wars between Aborigines and Europeans to the ongoing conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan. Although this history is short when compared to that of many other nations, Australia has been involved in numerous conflicts and wars. As a British colony, Australia participated in Britain's small wars of the 19th century, and again in the First World War and Second World War, as well as in the wars in Korea, Malaya, Borneo and Vietnam during the Cold War. In the Post Vietnam era Australian forces have been involved in numerous international peacekeeping missions, through the United Nations and other agencies, including in the Persian Gulf, Rwanda, Somalia, East Timor and the Solomon Islands, while more recently they have also fought as part of multi-lateral forces in the Iraq and Afghanistan. In total, during the course of these conflicts nearly 103,000 Australians have died

No one has mentioned the 19th-century Vietnam? Throughout the 1800s during and after the Trail of Tears America invested a huge amount of manpower and capital to rid Florida of its native tribe:
The Seminoles
They are the only North American tribe to never be conquered. In fact, it was the greatest failure of America until Vietnam/Bay of Pigs and arguably the ONLY failure of Andrew Jackson. America was fighting the Seminole Wars from 1817 to 1858 and never actually succeeded. Combined, the conflict lasted longer than any other war in American history, and joins Vietnam and possibly Iraq as the only ones for America to lose

So, yea, the Seminoles SHOULD be the Native American tribe, but they won't ;-;

Yes. The Pacific/Oceania should not be ignored.

For the canadian topic :
I'm just suprised how nationalistic Canadians are.

I'm sure most would be nationalistic to some extent if a bunch of people start posting that their country/history is irrelevant, and that most would be entirely capable of presenting a valid list of national achievements/inventions and so on.

I don't really expect 'New Zealand' or 'Australia' to be included, but I do think perhaps the Maori, Polynesian's or Aborigine's should be (if not all three) at least to give the entire Pacific region its due representation. I mean seriously, Four games and a bag of expansion packs in and still nothing.

:-)

Nice link.

Wasn't Canada the WW2-participant with the highest percentage of its population at arms? I believe something about 1 million soldiers on a population of 11 million.

Well, I don't think Canada will make into Vanilla.Maybe they receive a spot in one off the expansions. I personally would play them as I kind of like the nation.

1.I'm not being nationalistic...I also want Poland or Romania...not just Austria-Hungary

2.I think someone posted a list of hungary's occomplishments,,

As far as I can see, every single civilisation in every game so far has been in because at one point they were a major historical power (or the USA, because the game's American). There aren't any purely modern civs, other than the USA.

The Sioux?

They represent the Native Americans, obviously. Civ can't discount an entire continent.

So the last hundred years are not history? It isn't like they became a major power yesterday.

If we're talking about Canada, yes they did, effectively. If we're talking about the USA, they're already in.

You comment says the US was not a major historical power. They were, and still are.

You're putting words in my mouth. Please stop it.

I'd very much like a South Africa with Nelson Mandela as a leader.

I'd love to be able to play my country, so another vote for South Africa, though I'm not sure about Madiba for a leader (not that there are infinite choices). South Africa was/is an important source of gold and diamonds, and the Boers gave the British one hell of a tough war, so I'd say we're significant.
