Like a Sir!

I had a look at the save and plan to do the following:

Take barb city, it is very nice.
Build a settler and settle 1N of Dye, 1S of Marble for the marble resource.
A final city 1E of horse, on the hill netting clam for food is also something to consider.
Oracle has been built and Confusion is still available so the CoL slingshot wasn't used. Tech to that to found the religion. I would also consider getting Myst asap for cheap monuments to battle rival culture.

I would consider cancelling the library in Moscow and rather getting an aquaduct followed by Hanging Gardens there. It ha a lot of forests so will be ok to chop out some wonders, especially once the marble is hooked up.

More workers are also needed quite badly. I would not whip the cap unless required.

Expand south and west, we can backfill north and east later.

Ok so I played to turn 100 so it's nice and rounded off. Confusion was founded by Asoka so I cancelled currency and switched to myst for cheapo monuments. That nice barb city was captured and the last possible city to the South East was found, Rheims. Our economy is in the toilet so I am unsure how we are going to resolve that. A worker is on the way so we can start getting some cottages and things up. I would also consider meditation for monastaries which will help science A LOT!

I did whip the settler out of the cap as I was afraid that we were going to lose the last settling spot. Sorry for lack of pictures but here you all go :)

Anyways, here is the save:

why did you swap to mysicism?
We don't need monuments right now, we need more trade.
currency is the solution.
code of law could be interesting also but too far.

so next player should go for currency, build more libraries and use plenty of scientists.

for the hanging garden, I would rather see library first to control the growth of the city.

Whizzed through 10 turns.

Built/chopped libraries, running scientists where possible.

Asoka spread confu to Phoenecian.

Moscow still building HG.

Currency in 2.

Zara and Asoka have alphabet.

Its too late now but St Pete and other russian city are blooming awful.

Cheekily played another three turns up to 50bc.

Currency is in, Col in 5.

Asoka got a GS in 100bc but hasn't bulbed philo, we have GS in 8 so we might be able to nab our 3rd religion.

Traded currency to Zara for alph, myst, fishing.
Traded maths to Justinian for hunting, IW.
Traded maths to Asoka for sailing, med, 40G.

Traded rice to Zara for wine.

Novgorod is slightly less awful with the discovery of grassland iron. St Pete is still blooming awful though.

We're producing 70bpt/+4gpt at 50% research.

Justinian doesn't like us very much.

Asoka's got aesthetics already

economy is back, it is a very good sign. CoL will be a great asset too! It is also needed for caste systyem anyway.
our next objective is to propagate all our religions in at least in 9 cities.
We only have 8, a ninth is welcom but it will be our last one.
we need to buid monasteries to build missionaries for this mission.

on tech, after code on law, we can go to the culture path: aestetic, litterature, music and drama.
bulb philosophy is a very good idea (just check that taoism was not founded yet before bulbing :) ).

try to trade to get polytehism, priesthood and monotheism, they will be needed to build temple, organised religion and litterature

with these techs, we can just stop researching if we want ^^.
If we want to continue to tech, liberalism and nationalism are next step point for free speech, hermitage and taj mahal.

swap to organised religion asap, we will need to build lots of buildings.

micro: i would switch st petersbourg to buildings instead of wealth. monastery would be great.

Excellent. Got it. I'll take a look at it and offer up some pre-set thoughts.

lurker's comment:
Very interesting idea!

And just to stir things up a bit...
We are actually in anarchy because Charlemagne told us that boudism is so great that he would be pissed if we don’t convert.
Shouldn't you be at war?

well, it seems i forgot this point of rule at this time :mischief:

And, in fact, I don't rememeber if was a request or a demand.
I presented it like that but, at the time of the report, i couldn't even remember who asked us. I found it back by deduction.

the fact is that it was so mutch interesting to accept that I did not checked the details.
I will be more carefull in the future :D

Verarde, any progress on your PPP? I would tech the end of CoL and then see what we can do for backfill. We need meditation for the monastaries and for religion spread. We also need to consider which of our cities we are going to pump culture in. A GS is due in 8 turns. Acadamy? Also, I see pigswill made some signs as to where he reckons we should settle. I don't like the horse settlement nor do I like the fish city as it has too much overlap with the capital. I would prefer the horse city to be 1E of horse, on the little hill but, of course, this is all open for discussion.

Overlap isn't important for our smaller cities, their role is essentially to build/whip temples and missionaries (after we get mono and adopt OR).

We should use GS to bulb philosophy (unless Taoism is nabbed by someone else), we've already got med through trade.

The major challenge is our three legendary cities. Paris is an obvious one (and the only city with enough food to generate Great Artists), southern dye is a possibility, maybe Moscow if we use it to spam artistic wonders.

My apologies. I request a skip. School began today, and it will take me a few days to get acclimated to my new schedule and find exactly when I have free time. Thanks.

Still in this, though. :D

Had a look at the save. My $0.02:

We have to consider our big Three. I'd take Paris (obviously), Moscow and Phoenician. Paris and Moscow should get their culture via wonders (both cities have good production and can knock out those wonders), Phoenician can serve as GP farm and run Artists with 3 food sources and some grassland.

I'd actually settle the cities where the signs are - overlap isn't much of an issue, build temples, monasteries, and pump Missionaries and the occasional unit or two. That's all those cities have to do.

Bulb Philo if it is still available when we get the GS. Otherwise an Academy in Paris is my proposal.

Backfill on techs when possible. Tech path towards Music, Sistine would come in handy (and the marble wonders along the road). F9 tells us few wonders have been built as of yet, Parthenon is open too still.

Will play over the weekend most probably.
