LINES-World of Magic

The earth had been quaking for days. The heroic efforts of the Vol'kiss archmages, which had provided final victory over the necromancers, had also upset the balance of the earth somehow. That much power in one place... so much that the effects had stretched all the way to already-unstable (OOC: Central America does get lots of earthquakes. See here.) Central America. Earthquakes, which had previously happened relatively rarely, now happened daily.

And this one was the worst yet. The lone aquamancer who was in charge of the region watched helplessly as the earth trembled ever more strongly. At this rate, all of Central America would be destroyed. If only there was some use for aquamancy, if only it would work... but there was nothing water could do to stop the forces deep within the earth.

In desperation, he reached out, trying to draw water out of the earth, to do something. The effort only weakened him, but he kept trying. As he was on the point of unconsciousness, something changed in the magic, made it different, firey, uncontrollable. There was a tremendous flash of fire. Then the tremors stopped. He slipped into darkness.

He woke up and immediately found himself staring at the feet of a council member. A council member...here...in this insignificant province! He scrambled to his feet.

"Wha...what happened? What did I do?"

"I came here as soon as I felt it. I consulted the Vol'kiss, and they agree. You have performed Geomancy."

If Iggy accounts for that, I'm going to consider quitting indignantly. First two allies do nothing, then you give yourself a secret "training" stat and declare that it affects battles.
But since Iggy didn't include a training stat, all galleys are equally trained.
Dude, chill out, I put a lot of junk in my orders just on the off chance that he actually listens to them. He takes the valid and ignores the rest. That will prob be one of the things he ignores.

This update is unraveling even before it's posted! Can't you guys save something for the actual update for everyone to long for in anticipation? It's like opening the christmas gifts before boxing day... And even opening those not yours! Shame on you! Be silent and wait for Iggy!
Just idle banter on my part, that and goading Erik while I actually have the chance before they completely take me over.

Everyones changing magic now.....bleh

Not really "changing", no... ;)

Well, then what do you call it? Sheesh. I didn't pick my magic, but I still stick with it. I'll just exercise my right to look down upon you fickle ones not able to decide what kind of magic your mages wield.

EDIT: OT: Azash, I have sent you the finished map. Check your email.

Look, if you ever want to trade with a NPC nation who you're not at war with, they'll accept. So just pay for the trade route and so will they.

LordIggy, then how come when last turn I wrote 'start trade routes with any NPC's I'm in contact with who will accept' because I didn't get a list' nothing happened?
*taps foot with worried look*

I've lost income!!! *frantic*
I politely request that trade routes Antarctica would've started last turn be started 'last turn' this turn.

*sending abstract orders with hopeful guesses at trading partners I may or may not be in touch with*

It's not meant to be all that sarcastic. ;)
It's more of a technical complaint. I need a list of nations Antarctica is in contact with.

Right now my orders will look something like:

Initiate trade last round and this round with... NPC list of nations... +2 eco. I specified was not to be spent on education if I could spend it on trade... Modified to include the stat. changes that should've been (I think).
sooo confused
you have GOT to stop waiting with the stat. updates most honored Mod LordIggy.

Losing future income on points that aren't my fault really freaks me out because in games like this... errors compound... which is one of the reasons I sometimes try to avoid strategy games.

Then what is it,borrowing?

Borrowing would piss me off even more then just changing magic.

For the safety of everyone, exile the mage and never speak of it again.

This is a great NES and all so don't take offence LordIggy... but y'know these kind of orders are the direct result of me not having a clear idea of how my stat.s are supposed to look anymore, there not being a update in my little part of the statistics section and me not getting a list of what NPC nations I'm in contact with or who are willing to trade... My mind can't handle all the irregulear, unfair unknowns without stressing out; just look at this:

Spoiler Antarctican Orders :

Okie dokie... here's my best guesses at a range of different trading partners... for last round and tihs round...
+++ stat. update (d00d, so confused!!!! Raarrghhh :()

I should've had 6 trade routes last turn not a bunch of military units and so-and-such I think ... I think... I'm pretty sure I spent my money on trade first and foremost and if it is as youy SAAYY ORG FORKING SOPONFRIGLLDFG DFGDFGDFHFGHGDRFTHSE%Y¤E%YRESGRTHFRTDYDR&Y

... excuse me...

where was I ... oh yes a ... complete list of trade routes... if it's as you say that NPC's would've just started trade routes with me then they accepted last round when I wrote in my orders 'start trade route with any NPC who wants to' only I could'nt provide details because you didn't provide them so here:

Atlantis
Balaeria
Iroquois
Kojara
Ur
Vietnam

and this turn (9 eco. income)

New Atlantis
China
1 thousand infantry
20 galleys
2 points into education

Antarctica
Capital: South Pole
Ruler: The Fusion of Souls (The Ice Mages all merge when they need intense power or a collective intellect to make important decisions)/Toteone
Government: Anarchic Society
Population: 320 000
Economy: Prosperous (5/0/6) 10 eco. that was supposed to have been spent on trade
Trade: Ross (1) Tiss (1) Bikk (1) Hawaii (3/3) Atlantis (1/3) Balaeria (1/3) Iroquois (1/3) Kojara (1/3) Vietnam (1/3) China (0/3) New Atlantis (0/3)
Education: Average (2/4)
Technology: Bronze Age
Loyalty: Admiring
Army: 3 thousand Infantry, 1 thousand Archers, 1 thousand Cavalry
Navy: 40 Galleys
Magic: 50 Ice Mages, Aquamancy
UU: 40 Clerics of the Ice
Projects: Ice Palace- +3 loyalty, +10 aquamancers, Antarctic Advancement- +1 education level, +2000population, Antarctic harbours, can set up trade routes that start at 0/2, (4/6)

To summarize: In order to properly sort out my economic tacticals I need accurate up-to-date information. I know this can be hard to supply and most often takes too much time. A Mod or a GM really needs a good system for that kind of thing...

Revenge is best served as a cold dish Songhai.

Proper strategy and planning depends on accurate intelligence and knowledge about our surroundings. Antarctica has been denied a list of 'known PC's and NPC's' and is also lacking in the stat. update section (I think).

You'll find out...

Obviously not. If you look up and to the left, you'll see I wrote it.

Ach, this mixing of magic is annoying! What's the point? Your magic doesn't grow stronger, if Iggy can keep it neutral somehow. In fact that's hard when you start mixing stuff, which leads me to suspect you of trying to get ahead with it unfairly somehow. If the change simply was an aesthetic one, just say so. But if you don't, I'll assume that this is just another meddling with the rules and godmodding.

Writing a story does not - or must I say SHOULD not - allow you to extend beyond the frame of the rules. Use projects for that kind of stuff. That's an open and fair way to design your nation and units, and it also gives the MOD a final say in it, without the expectation of a given result.

That's what I meant by saying I had approval from Iggy. Azash and I are starting a joint project. It will take us 6 turns with each of us putting 1 eco point in per turn, and will train both of our mages in Aquamancy and Geomancy.

But I thought, and Azash agreed, that we needed some kind of justification for this, when up until now different types of magic have reacted with each other. That's what my and his stories are- story justifications for how the project came to be. They were intended to make people less upset with the seeming breach of the rules. Obviously, it didn't work.

Woah woah wait a frackin second, you would have both Aquamancy and Geomancy mage types without the whole megakablooey effect!!!YEEEEEEEEEEARRRGH!!!!It is hard to achieve inner peace when people are doing this to me all the time.

But why,why such deviation from the rules........this means I could theoretically own a mage of every frackin type on the world!!!!

Where do the rules say that you can't do this? We can't train 2 types of mages, but there's nothing against having mages that do two types of magic.

All we have to go on is history. SO FAR, it's reacted badly when magics have come into contact.

But if you look at the first post, magic is caused by particles (see Azash's story). There is nowhere where it says that there are different particles for different magics. So the difference must be in how people use the particles. Theoretically, there's no reason they can't learn to use them two different ways...

Edit: Double post. Grr.

Dont tell me you took the first post intro seriously

Within the context of this NES, I took it seriously, and I'll continue taking it seriously until Iggy tells me not to.

Look, I don't have time to update this weekend. My next update will encompass this one and the one after it. So I'll kind of BT it, you know, do what your nation would probably do so you don't have to send orders blind.

Eesh, it feels like this NES is slipping out of my control.

It's- it's- it's AAALLLIIIIVVVEEE!!!!!
