LINES-World of Magic

Apparently, yes. I also think it's kind of an odd idea. Still, he called it, so I'm sending my orders to avoid the Abyssinian/Khemrian syndrome.

(Sorry for W-post, just didn't bother editing)

@Iggy: I know you're busy, but can you at least tell us ETA of the update?

Mass forces along with my allies in the secret staging area and march on Karthage. (Allies had better not bugger out again.)

Did the last update happen or not?

And on Saturday, around noon Pacific time, I will write the update that should have been done last week.

No, I'm not doing BT. Not now.

Great. At last we will know the outcome of this war!

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT

The library I usually surf in, plus the school computers (Everything in the city's network) has been struck with Panda GateDefender. This means that I will not be able to use CFC except for maybe two-three weekends/month. I would like to ask Iggy, or anyone else, to send updates/maps/anything concerning Vol'Kiss to azashcfc@gmail.com (Creating it atm). Thanks. Iggy, could you email that address so I can get your email to send updates to?

Update XIII- 1300 BCE
Good to see you. Let's get out before this whole place becomes deadly.
-Grandmaster Meremmor of Elgovia, aboard the Bringer of Wrath, during the landing on Southern Italy.

Hawaii has completed the construction of the Merchant Fleet. Their expansion around the Pacific, particularly in the Americas, is reaching a higher speed than ever before. But the Hawaiian nation is growing unwieldy. Even with the best ships and aquamancers, it can take months for news to spread across the Pacific.

Dur Veliz and Hawaii have sent several forces into the undead jungle, and have found it suspiciously empty of the undead. Living animals are beginning to return to the healing lands. Dur Veliz has also launched a plan to resettle former Dur Khaz, whos proud cities still stand.

Gorin's attempts at controlling the weather have worked, but are too random to be used practically.

Allied with Avalon, Gorin's full army stormed into Germania. With no mercy whatsoever, they incinerated every living thing they saw, much to the horror of the nature-loving Avalonians. But it may have been worth it, for Gorin suffered no casualties.
(-40 Trap Plants, -1 loyalty, -100 000 population)

Gorin made it all the way to Germania's capital. The Avalonian army, attacking from the north, met up with the Gorin. Arguement over what was to be done to the capital was eventually won by Avalon, and the city was taken without being incinerated. The captured leaders agreed to become a principality of Avalon, hating the Gorin for their destructive ways.
(Germania becomes vassal to Avalon, -1.5 thousand Avalonian infantry)

But this was unpopular with the rest of Germania. The eastern territories have declared themselves to be independent nations. They will resist Avalon and Gorin, viciously, should they be invaded. This has resulted in increased military control by Avalon over Germania.
(-Germania as independent nation)

The Mediterranean is in shock from a deadly weapon devised by the Hyperboreans and Elgovians. Named Azathoth's Shadow, it was a massive bomb that mixed Hyperborean Time and Space manipulation with Elgovian Chaos.

The horrific bomb has spread total chaos and broken the laws of cause and effect all over Italy and the Adriatic. All military actions in Italy have been halted, and much of the Karthaginian army has been destroyed. For a description of what the bomb did, check out Disenfrancised's story:
Hammus passed the next leaf of notes to the general, trying to avoid looking at the excruciatingly detailed sketch, fast drawn with same magic used to make our precious maps.

'Those things in the background like melting statues used to be houses,' he said levelly. 'The thing you're looking at, as far as they can work out, is descended from the domestic goat. You know how the southerners used to keep them as pets. This could second, tenth, twentieth generation after the event, obviously. We don't know how long they live.'

The General stared at the dead thing in the drawing.

'They had to hack it to pieces, he explains in the text,' Isacc went on. 'It killed two of the militia. They had a go at an autopsy, but those horns in its stomach weren't dead, even though the rest of it was. They fought back, nearly killing the mage. Do you see the carapace? weird splicing going on there.' The general nodded nodded slowly.

'Turn the page, Sir. This next one, no one has the slightest idea what it used to be. Might have been spontaneously generated in the initiation. But I thing those gears there are descended from water mills.' He tapped the page gently. 'The..uh...best is yet to come. You haven't seen the cockroach-tree, or the herds of what may have once been human.'

The General was meticulous of course. He turned every single page. He saw furtive glimpses that had been stolen from behind walls, and vertiginous views from the sea. A slow kaleidoscope of mutation and violence, petty wars fought between unfathomable monstrocities over no-man's-lands of shifting slag and nightmare architecture.

'There were twenty milita, Sacamundi the skethcer and three mages, plus a couple of sailors who stayed on the ship the whole time. Seven soldiers, Sacramundi and one aquamancer came out of Naples. Some were...wounded. By the time they got back north of Rome one soldier had died. Another had barbed tenticles where his eyes should be, and pieces of the mages body were disappearing every night. No blood, no pain, just smooth holes in her abdomen or arm or whatever. She killed herself.'

'Whatever they did to that place, whatever it is now, we cannot continue our advance south. Not if we want to remain what we are now.'
(-80 000 Illyrian Population, -1 thousand Illyrian infantry, -100 000 Karthaginian population, - 3 thousand Karthaginian infantry, -4 thousand militia, total Karthaginian trade breakdown, -1 loyalty, -30 Hyperborean priests, -1 thousand Hyperborean infantry, -20 Elgovian High Chaosiers)

Due to this Cataclysm, the Bringer of Wrath has still yet to see battle.

Illyria, fortunately, had no troops in the affected regions. But the chaos field corssed the Adriatic, and wreaked havoc in the capital of Kera. Many people were mutated by the field, then tossed into the soul vortex as a test. These mutated souls proved to be vastly more useful in the soul vortex then normal humans.

While Azathoth's shadow was mutilating Italy, the main Illyrian army charged back into New Atlantis. To find it nearly undefended. Why? Because at the same time, New Atlantis was fending off an attack from undead who walked out of the sea. It is believed that the Illyrian necromancers contacted the jungle undead and sent the last of them across the sea, but it is not proven.
(- 2 thousand New Atlantean infantry, - 2 thousand New Atlantean archers, last of the jungle undead destroyed)

After finishing off the weak and demoralized Balaerian defense, Illyria then captured and secured half of Iberia. This time however, Illyria didn't overstretch itself. Their generals were content with their current, safe gains. All New Atlantean counterattacks were stopped, partly because of the Chaos Sorcerers' skills at driving their enemies homicidally insane (happy Cleric?). But New Atlantis' forces are massing. Something drastic must be done by Illyria before the full might of New Atlantis is unleashed.
(-2 thousand Balaerian infantry, -1 thousand archers, -3 thousand Illyrian infantry, -20 Possessed Warriors, -3 thousand New Atlantean infantry, -1 thousand New Atlantean archers, -100 000 New Atlantean population, +100 000 Illyrian population)

Illyria has also begun to uncover an ancient tome of necromantic lore, called the book of the dead.

Khemri has pulled out of the war with Karthage. They are standing by and watching the massive events taking place all around them.

In Abyssinia, a 3-way civil war has erupted between three groups- The pacifists, the republicans, and the monarchy. While there have been no majour battles yet, the metaphorical storm is brewing over Menelik's kingdom.

Fearing the shards of civil war that were firing into Khemri, the Lich King planned to keep out of the trouble. But when a battle in the city of Menelika killed a large number of Khemri citizens, Khemri took decisive actions. The Lich King has seized the city of Menelika until the dissidents can come to a peaceful solution.
(+2 spending points)

Ur, finally believing that a time of peace had come, had let down its guard. Knyaz Kiy, once again, saw an opportunity to further expand the borders of his nation. Raising two armies, one led by Knyaz Kiy and one under the rising General Barskoy, Welikoslavian forces poured into northern Ur.

But Ur's response was furious. They pushed Welikoslavia back to the original borders before this latest attack, then sent their dragon riders over the Black Sea to attack the Welikoslavian homeland.

These Dragon raids have been disastrous for Welikoslavia, who has been unable to repel them due to the light homeland defense and their almost complete lack of archers.

But while their homeland was being attacked, the Welikoslavians did fairly well on the offense from then on. After years of fierce fighting, Kiy pushed the Urrians out of Tarsus and launched raids on Ur's remaining Mediterranean ports. Kiy's attempts to instigate a second Babylonian rebellion failed, for the simple reason that almost all of the revolutionaries were killed during the destruction of the city of Babylon, and the people hated the prospect of further war.

Barskoy managed to hold the Caucasus, although he was outnumbered and unable to prevent Ur from regaining a foothold in the Black Sea.

So far, little land has changed hands throughout this resurgence of the war so far. But the losses have been high for both sides.
(-3 thousand Welikoslavian infantry, -2 thousand Welikoslavian cavalry, -10 Oborotni, -20 000 population, -1 loyalty, -2 thousand Urrian infantry, -1 thousand Urrian archers, -2 thousand Urrian cavalry)

China, having been a vassal to Mongolia for almost a millennium, has now joined it completely. Temujin has named his new nation the 'Immortal Kingdom'.

Never one to enjoy a small victory, the Great Khan then directed the vastly increased army against the island nation of Kojaro. With a massive naval force, the Immortal Kingdom's armies crossed over onto the island of Honshu and overran it, using a varying and unpredictable tactics that the Kojarans simply couldn't adapt against.

With the capital island captured, the Horde split up to capture the rest of the islands. Shikoku and Kyushu fell, but Hokkaido has weathered the storm- for now.

As war raged in the north, a second force captured Okinawa then passed on southwards to attack Kojaro's great Phillipine colonies. With supplies no longer arriving from the north, they had collapsed into their own tiny nations. But they have still fiercely resisted occupation. While the Immortal Kingdom's advances are temporarily halted, their victory seems inevitable.
(-3 Kojaran Economy levels, +2 Immortal Kingdom economy levels, -3 thousand Kojaran infantry, -2 thousand Kojaran archers, -20 Kojaran galleys, -2 thousand Immortal Kingdom cavalry, -2 thousand Immortal kingdom infantry, -10 Immortal Kingdom galleys)

The Vol'Kiss have completed their Volcanist fortress of Geo-Tirith.

Diplomacy

From: Vietnam
To: Indus

I suggest a defensive alliance.

To: Elgovia and Hyperborea
From: New Atlantis and Balaeria
WTH!!! OMFG LOOK WHAT YOU'VE DONE! $%&#$&@@!!! $#@%@@#!!! $#@&!

Notes: If your nation isn't mentioned, it's because nothing of consequence happened. This is often a good thing, as you are not getting blown up. Which seems to be happening more and more. I fear this planet is headed to a premature end. :D
And I'd like it if your PMed orders simply showed your nation's name as a title. It's often hard looking through a bunch of Private Messages all titled 'ORDERS!'. Make it look like "Gorin orders" or even 'LINES Hyperborean Orders for update 13 1300 BCE'- because I always forget what year we're at.
@jalapeno-dude: Your scientists will develop iron age next turn.

Story Bonuses
Elgovia: +2 thousand infantry, +10 galleys, +10 High Chaosiers, +10 Awakened Ripples, Bringer of Wrath strengthened
Vol'Kiss: +20 Volcanists, +1 turn of production on Geo-Tirith
Tripolye: +1 loyalty
Songhai: +10 magicians
Karthage: +1 thousand infantry
Hawaii: +10 aquamancers

And people, the stat update is half done. I might get it finished in half an hour, and no later than the end of tomorrow.

Whatever. Just don't complain when we execute you and sacrifice you to the Khan. That could be avioded with some kow-towing and a surrender, or even a vassalage. But if you prefer, we could finish this the old fashioned way.
