LINES-World of Magic

[true]I am sad to inform you that due to a nervous breakdown caused by your incessant cries for bread, err, an update, Iggy has joined Erik in his  quest to dominate the world. This NES, as well as ENES, will not see an update for a while.

If you wonder why I am YET STILL alive, I will admit that I succumbed to their persuasion, and now work with them to enslave the entire world. I felt like I owed you something, so I posted this even though it's supposed to be secret. I strongly suggest you all join our ranks... before we come for you! [/true]

Woah so its 6am at Canda?I really need to pay more attention to those zone things....

Update 17- 900 BCE

Why the hell are you counting the years backwards. Is it like something special's going to happen when you count down to zero? Damn you're an idiot.
-My inner critic, on the dating system of this NES.

War has erupted! Antarctica has arrogantly laid claim to Australia, Hawaii and the Vol’Kiss were quick to respond. The sanity of the fusion of souls has been brought into question when considering the causes of the declaration of war: none. The fact that the fusion of souls is every important Antarctican makes the sanity question somewhat more worrying.

Hawaii quickly brought in its allies, Mongolia and the Vol'Kiss. Antarctica's declaration already looked like a big mistake. The fusion of souls knew that they couldn't win a battle like this. So they decided to go out with a bang. Antarctic Ice Mages began to melt the massive ice sheet. Many Mongol warriors teleporting into Antarctica drowned in slush just seconds after arriving.

The plan seemed to be working. No enemy forces could land on antarctica, for the giant rivers pouring out of it always pushed them away. But then, the neutral penguins realised that enough was enough. The Antarcticans had promised them the lands after they were melted, but all of the penguin leaders knew that all they would inherit was barren, lifeless rocks.

So they mobilized their armies and stormed into the chaotic, melting lands of Antarctica. Their massive force captured all of the Ice Mages, and forced them to stop their spell. The penguins then aided the last Antarcticans who had not yet fled their doomed continent.

Shortly after the evacuation, the Elgovian chaosiers arrived, but discovered that the magic was already over. Antarctica was already re-freezing, and the global average sea level had risen about half a meter.

Antarctica's resistance so far has been pathetic. And there has, amazingly, been almost no bloodshed. But the Antarctic population is not pleased with the flight of its people to the south Atlantic.

The combined forces against Antarctica have completely taken control over the frozen continent, although they don't like the weather and most want to turn it over to the penguins.
(+1 loyalty to Vol'Kiss, Hawaii, -10 Hawaiian Galleys, -1 thousand Mongol Cavalry -2 Antarctic loyalty, -20 Antarctic Icemancers)

Elgovia's massive attack into the Disoletemec is going well. Their forces have met the smaller Hawaiian army, and together they took over the entirety of the land, save the Yucutan Peninsula. The natives are being systematically enslaved and scattered, following the Hyperborean technique.

Avalon's policy of 're-educating' the Germanians is starting to pay off. The rebellions are dying down, but the difficult to control southeast of the nation is still unaffected by Avalon's actions, because of the near-total lack of foreigners there and the anti-occupier violence of the people.

The East Germanians are offering a deal to their occupiers. Give them independence, and they will cease to fight. The proposed borders are drawn onto the map.

Avalonian explorers and settlers are travelling deeper and deeper into the depths of the Amazon Rain Forest.

The Illyrians and Songhai have divided Iberia between themselves. The Illyrians have, surprisingly, treated the New Atlanteans well, in exchange for their obedience.

The Balaerian islands of the western Mediterranean are under siege! Lord Seth Dethos of Illyria first attempted to starve the Balaerians by blotting out the sun, but firstly, their magic is not well suited for that kind of job, and secondly, the Balaerian magi were able to dispel all long-range magic sent by the Illyrians.

The Balaerian's Leviathans were ready to defend Balaeria from any assault the Illyrians could throw at them. The first few skirmishes occured underwater, with Leviathans destroying all of the undead sent by the Illyrians. After a few became corrupted by eating things tainted with necromancy, the Balaerians made sure that no more magical enemies were to be eaten.

After finishing off the last Iberian resistance, the Illyrians massed their war-weary army and prepared an assault on Balaeria. They sent out their army in one massive wave, and it was more than even the Leviathans and the Balaerian navy could stop.

Attempts to destroy the Illyrians with storms were magically cancelled out by Dark Knights, and the Illyrian Armada quickly reached the westernmost Balaerian island. It was attacked, and the battle for it was bloody.

The Balaerians had nearly finished the Five Towers, a project involving a mighty coastal fortress on each island. The partially complete fortress held out the Illyrians for a few months, but it eventually succumbed to starvation and fell. But archer attacks and raids from the countryside were costly for the Illyrians. Every Balaerian is fighting to the death, for they know the fate of those who fall to the Illyrians is a horrible destruction in the Soul Vortex.
(-20 Balaerian Leviathans, -1 thousand Balaerian infantry, -2 thousand archers, -4 thousand Illyrian infantry, - 2 thousand Illyrian cavalry)

Khemri has invaded Abyssinia. It looks like this time, the end of the war is going to be final. Khemri's formidable army struck rapidly into the Northern Territories of Abyssinia, before the defending forces could assemble. But the Abyssinians recovered soon enough. The two full forces met at Khartoum, where the larger Khemri army attacked the Abyssinians, who were in a considerably more defensible position. Khemri arrows rained death upon the Abyssinians for hours, while cavalry forces struck at the defenders from every direction. The Abyssinian army was whittled down, until the point when it was totally unable to resist the Khemri army. Naturally, that was when the final attack on the Abyssinian force came.

With their army gutted, Abyssinia fell into retreat on all fronts. The occupied people were surprised to be treated well by the Khemri, IE: They weren't killed. Finally, the Khemri army reached the Ancient City of Menelika. In strangely similar manner to the last invasion, Khemri captured the capital, and the government fled. Khemri's army is stretched far, and Abyssinia has been dealt what is likely a fatal blow. Should there be any follow through, Abyssinia's fall is certain.
(-6 thousand Abyssinian infantry, -20 Rocs, -200 000 population, -3 thousand Khemri infantry, -2 thousand Khemri cavalry, -20 Vampires, +200 000 population)

Welikoslavia is also collapsing under a foreign invasion. Ur's mighty army is pushing back the Welikoslavian borders on all fronts. Even desperate hit and run raids are failing. Ur has refused all peace offers, Welikoslavia's only hope now rests with its neighbours. Welikoslavia is begging for Illyria's assistance. Will help arrive? If it does, it seems that it already may be too late.
(-2 thousand Welikoslavian infantry, -1 thousand Welikoslavian cavalry, -150 000 population, -2 thousand Urrian infantry, +150 000 population)

The Indus have sold their Medean conquests to the Urrians. The Urrians graciously accepted the offer, which was in their opinion a steal. The Indus have also been expanding into further areas on the subcontinent.

The Mountain Barrier across the Himalayas is complete.

Notes: I'm now adding an upkeep stat. If you have a million population, you can support 10 thousand troops and 100 ships and 100 UUs and 100 magi. If you go over, you must pay upkeep.

There. I've finally made the population stat useful. Yay!

GAH! That update took SOO long. Someone end the LINES world for me please.

Would you like a map with that SIR?

Meh meh nothing went as planned.I had 100 magi and they had 60 and still they cancel out my stuff? It makes no goddamn sense. Also I conquered one measly island in 100 years....just bleh. But I appreciate your hard work Iggy.

Also what other kind of magic would be best at blotting out the sun,Im EVIL!

What about the One Ring!?Has it no power!?/end rant

Good update Iggy!

EDIT:Werent Songhai supposed to turn over all of the Iberia to me?They said nothing about keeping the south of Iberia.

Weather Magic, or a bomb like Azathoth's shadow.

Oh, and the Balaerians had made a wonder that made their islands extremely defensible. They've been working on it for centuries. That's why your advance is slow.

To: Illyria
From: Welikoslavia

Help?

To Welikoslavia
From Illyria

We cannot help we have to dispatch the cumbersome Balerians, and our army is no match for Urs.We suggest that you run and make a new home.

OOC:Arghh so Iggy well it seems its time for another super spell...

*opens Book of the Dead and searches for the deadly spells chapter*

What???If they can use they project before completion so can I :D :p

 Antarctica is still alive! Amazing! I guess their South African colonies avoided attention altogether...

Hmm doesn't really seem as if there was any point to sending in orders for me.

I'm sorry your tired Iggy, and I realise accidents happen.

but WTH happened to this?

Update 16- 1000 BCE

On the far side of the world, a Hyperborean expansion expedition has settled on the island of Lanka (OTL Sri Lanka). Their trades with former Abyssinians and other locals have gone well. Their explorations have brought them into contact with nations as far away as Vietnam.

And this is the Third update in a row where nothing ordered has happened in Vendalia!

If you don't want me in this NES just say so ;)

@ Silver Steak: well, I did send diplo to Malawi (like a week ago), but Iggy never responded...

From:Hawaii
To:Elgovia

You may remember our long-ago deal about borders in Central America. Both of us seem to have broken it in the defeat of Disoletemec. To reestablish this deal, could we trade lands to establish these borders?

Sorry for ranting, but how hard can it be for the MOD anyway? I mean, most players send orders via PM, so those should be positively easy to incorporate to the update. What with diplo and other stuff on the thread, the MOD can easily keep track by noting it all on a sheet of good old Notepad and check them off as he replies to them. The same could be done for the update as well, if you list the key points under regions, and major battles.

I do realise most MODs do just that, but it seems so simple to me that I can't understand how some of them manage to miss anything at all. I take it as granted that the MOD does not SKIP posts on the thread while scrolling through the thread. And I do also realise this rant should be posted on a different thread, maybe on one of the stickies, but I couldn't resist, and now I have posted it, so there.

 I tried to set up a NES once, stopped when I realised it would either a) take to long to do or b) be rushed and crap. Seriously there is alot of stuff to do and think about as a mod, and it is hard to stay motivated.

I recommend you make a NES and see - we can always do with a regular updating NES ;)
