LINESII- Into the Darkness

Well, could you possibly have off-white temples? I've kinda cornered the market on marble in the known world.

Stability has been reestablished. We thank you for the offer of aid, and perhaps we should cooperate more in the future. We happen to have a food shortage, and if you desire copper or other goods those can be provided for the faithful, in trade of course.

Well there sure are a lot of them...alright, if you kill off all of Nurmafer, then you can be as arrogant as us.

Iggy, do I have contact with Darkening's nation? Also, if you do spend the points of NPC'ed nations, one of them could go toward purchasing those 10 galleys I talked about.

I'm offended, you could never be as arrogant as me. Our country's annexed 3 innocent nations, the best you've done is 2. And they weren't even really 2 nations. :p

Kill off another country and then we'll talk. ;)
Ooh, when Eldrania hits three can we talk? ;)

Not barbarians... just genocidal religous fanatics!

(OOC)
Yaaaay......I'm gonna die......

Can i get my stats? Didn't see them listed. I don't mind the change anyway.

Not that contact with me will do them much good. :p

OT: Say, you're at post 1,234. It'll never happen again! Enjoy it while you can!

Back on topic: I'm starting the stat update now.

oh, OK thanks.

Guess I
ll start my story.

Tanil shifted nervously in his seat. The Kali didn't like heights, and so being up in the elevated box set up before the grounds was a difficult thing for him. The box had been set up for a very special event, a trial of a heretic. He, along with the other ministers. sat in the box on the right side of the large open space. The rest of the grounds had been crowded by seemingly every person in the city. In the middle, also on an elevated platform, sat the heretic.

The man was dark skinned, an unusual thing since around ninety-five percent of the population was light skinned. No one was sure where the man had hailed from, but most people believed it was far west. He was an old man, with a long salt-and-pepper beard, and only wore rags. He claimed that his name was Gira Plaon. For the last fifteen years he had been preaching a philosophy that came into conflict with the High Priests.

They had came to the Kali and demanded that the man's life be ended, swearing that he was spreading a faith that was deadly to the populace. The Kali had debated on it for a while and then decided to hold a trial. So they had all gathered for it.

"Quiet! All be quiet!" The bailiff, a man by Frein Lavourn, demanded with his booming voice. The crowd instantly hushed. "Now presenting Kali Tanil and The High Priest!"

The crowd cheered as both Tanil and the High Priest took their seats.

The High Priest was cut from the same traditional cloth as the others. He wore the same long, white robe as his predecessors; He believed in the same strict rules as his predecessors; and he also believed in the maximum punishments, like his predecessors. He was a tall man; measuring up at an even seven feet. He, like the heretic, hand a long salt-and-pepper beard. But unlike the heretic, his clothes were of the nicest fashion.

"State your name." The High Priest said, starting the trial in the simplest of ways. It was the High Priest, not the Kali that started the trials off anyway.

"I am called Gira." The dark skinned man simply stated.

"And you know the reason that you are here today?" The High Priest asked, sitting forward in his plush chair.

"I am being called a heretic."

"Then is this true? Are you going directly against The Priests and our teachings?"

"I have not done such a thing." The man said, face clear and tranquil.

"So you have been falsely accused then? You haven't been preaching?"

"All I have done is spread God's word. If that is a crime, then I am guilty."

"God?" The High Priest said, a confused look upon his face. "You mean Gods?"

"No." He said, causing a sharp intake from the Priest's section. " I spread the word of the true god, the word of Aweha."

"SO! You admit it! You're a heretic!" The High Priest said, jumping to his feet and making the wooden platform shake. Kali Tanil gulped a little.

"Teaching the true faith isn't heresy." A few seconds of silenced followed this statement and then another sharp intake from the priests with the High Priest's face staring to flush.

"There is no such thing as "Aweha"! What you call the truth is nothing more than heresy!"

"What you teach is nothing more than heresy against Aweha."

"The is only one set of gods!" The High Priest shouted, striding down the stairs and making his way towards the heritic. "Deno, king of the gods! Dena, mother and queen of the rest!" He called out from the crowd.

"That is ignorance, and may Aweha forgive you for it."

"You bloody fool! There is no such thing as Aweha! The gods were here from the beginning, and it was them who created us and this world! You dishonor them with this blastmephous talk!

"I dishonor the true God if I am silent."

A vein showed promise of popping in the High Priest's forehead as he climbed the steps to the heretic. "You will either renounce these beliefs or die for them!"

"To die for Aweha is an honor."

"You will admit you foolishness and demand the converted to come to their senses now!" He raged.

"I do not control the people."

"Then you shall die!" He snarled, grabbing a spear from a guard. This time a harsh intake came from the crowd.

Kali Tanil realized for the first time how many had been converted when the crowd raised up and began to surge towards the central platform. With a gulp, he decided it was time to act. "Stay your hand!" He called out over the crowd.

The High Priest turned on his heals, and his jaw dropped. "You must be joking! The punishment for heresy is death!:

Kali Tanil thought for a moment. He had never been a follower of the Gods. "As of now, I am ruling that any religon is allowed within our cities."

"But they are worshiping false ideas!"

"I could care less if they worshipped a pig, as long as they did it peacefuly."

"This is heresy! The gods will strike us down for this!"

The crowd cheered from the open grounds, and the Kali saw the he had made the right decision. Now it was time to keep it going. "I am proposing a new code! There shall be no formal religon in our lands! The populace may worship as they please as long as there is no threat in their practices! And, as of now, The Order of Priests is officially dead." The crowd cheered again.
