List of AI Stupidities

Production does not happen until the beginning of the next turn for the AI. Keep hitting the coastal city with ships until the flag goes down, which means there are no more defending units in the city. Then try dropping a unit directly from a ship into the city.

Ah ha, success at last. I was giving up too soon with the ships. Thanks for the advice.

Here. Hopefully somebody comes up with an AI posting things here at CFC. Imagine something like this:

Civ2 AI said:
I always do what my programming tells me to, but still I lose every single game against any humans, even when they play on Deity. I don't understand why. I send my units one after one, just as I'm programmed to do, but they all get killed off. Even if I get special treatment, I loose. Any tip would help tremendously.

For some reason, the human player always ceases to trust me as soon as I build the tiniest nuclear weapon. Why is that?

Civ2 AI #4: Hey guys, you know those whatchamacallits that you get after reserching trade... what was that unit.... Caravans? Well anyway I just can't figure out what to do with them. Sometimes I'll build one and send it off to a human City, just to see what it does, but then nothing seems to happen. What is going on?

Civ2 AI #5:  Humans keep expelling all my diplomats. Even if they're just passing by the Humans just assume that I'm going after them and attack me! They nnever seem to be able to keep alliances either...

AI: I've seen humans spen the entire game with only one city, and still somehow manage to win!

i don't know if i can do this either but the AI builds AEGIS crusiers and moves them around the turn they get rocketry

If you get rocketry, you can buy the cruisers that turn, but they wouldn't be produced until the next turn. The only way I think it could happen is if they were previously building regular cruisers and production was upgraded to AEGIS, and that very turn, they finished building a couple. This is highly coincidental.

In my most recent game, the Americans only have ONE city:Washington. And it's about AD 1300(I think. It's at least past AD 1000). They're stuck on a small island(about enough space for 2 cities w/o overlapping radii), but knowing the AI you'd think it'd at least build cities with overlapping radii or something(they located their one city so that it's not touching the ocean, so they can't build boats to escape)...maybe the AI's trying the OCC? :P
I'm planning to crush them once I resume my game, it shouldn't be *too* hard. Maybe they'll respawn somewhere where they can get more than one city. :p

I put them out of their misery(Warriors, Horsemen(not sure how THAT happened. They don't have Horseback riding...must have popped a hut with one in it) & Phalanaxes(I don't know if that's the right plural, and I don't really care) against Knights and Dragoons. Not hard to figure out who wins). It was so late into the game that nothing replaced their civ. Although...since I was in Republic, I had issues with the Senate forcing Cease-fires and a Peace Treaty. The Americans tried to buy time by building a new city(New York) a little north of Washington, and yet another city to the west of Washington, while I was stuck being forced to not-attack. Not sure why they took so long to build their second and third cities(it was AD 1500-ish by this time.). Of course, they had a whopping, dazziling, AMAZING, 6 TECHS. I went into Commie and finished them off after goading them into attacking me first.

6 techs in 1350 AD. Fearsome...

Their whopping...one...city...

The island they were stuck on(wait...they DID have access to water! Eh. Not that they built ships anyway). It's bigger than I remembered.

I find this funny mostly because the AI usually builds TOO MANY cities, too close together.

What about the constant building of cities in the middle of YOUR territory?!?!? Even when you are much more powerful then 'em AND you're at war!?!?!? Even more annoying is that it's near impossible to destroy a city if you capture it and it survives, and is taking resources from, say YOUR CAPITOL!!!!!!??????

I'd nuke them, but that wouldn't be very sporting would it? Not when they're still fighting with phalanxes.
