LizNES5: Or How I Learned To Stop Worrying, And Love The Bomb

-.-

Meh. Fine. But I'm taking away tank brigades and bomber squadrons.

Coincidentally, orders in by this Wednesday please.

If you insist, but the same argument for naval ships applies to the land and air units. Just having a generic air unit to build becomes very boring in my opinion, and generic land units decreases the flexibility of our strategy by ALOT.

Not necessarily. If you want to differentiate between bombers and fighters, or tanks and infantry in your orders, you can do so. I'm not saying that they have to be a cohesive unit, moreover, I'm saying thats how I'm going to tally them. With the system I'm using now, why don't I also make a separate unit for artillery, recon planes, missile cruisers, frigates, etc. etc.

If you want to make comments on how your destroyers ravage the coast, and how your submarines blockade certain areas, you can do so. This doesn't prevent that by any means.

To: Germany
From: The Ukraine

Our people are in awe of your great rail network in your country. Could we ask for you to send some of your minds to advise our ministers in our infrastructure rejuvenation projects. We would like to send the heads of our Transportation Ministry to visit and tour some of your wonders as well.

Perhaps there is something we can give back in return?

We will send some of our railroad managers to help you and your Transportation Minister is allowed to visit Germany.. We do not wish for anything in return, friendship is enough.

Difficult stats to manage drains the mods energy = dead NES or extremely slow updates. Neither I really like.

I'm a bit late it seems, but for my part I like the stats as they are now, and I think differentiating between Infantry and Armored groups, as well as other types of ships, is reasonably necessary, but I suppose I could do without it.

This.. It makes for better strategies and thus better orders as well. :)

I think we should leave things as they are. Personally I don't mind waiting an extra day or so for the update if it means I can have my tanks charge through the desert while my infantry sneaks through the mountains. Also, I think artillery is fine as part of infantry. We don't need it as a separate unit. For planes, however, I think it would be fine to make them into one unit if you really want to, TLK.

I'm just worried about waiting an extra week or so like was the norm back when I started NESing :-/

Everything else I agree with, and of course do whatever makes running the NES easier for you TLK, but I feel like it bears pointing out that there are differences (at least with current military aeronautical technology) between the roles different kinds of aircraft have in warfare and that differentiating them is kind of necessary to be able to write good and comprehensive orders.

In 1850 after years of civil war the Cossack Union finally made peace with Crimea. The Cossack Union were bitter about not taking the whole Ukrainian region. However, they formed a burgeoning noble republic, and as the King grew old, a constitution was signed into law and elections began in 1905.

In 1921 President Kossak officially signed into the constitution a major amendment. From then on all elected officials shall run their campaign and their time in office anonymously. This of course has many advantages. Firstly making it much more difficult for the official to be bribed. Which, as it turns out, was the main impetus for the change. Bribery of officials was rampant in the year 20th’s century, to the point of nearly tearing the Ukraine apart in a bloody civil war. Twelve elective officials were assassinated, and as that turns out another reason for the change. Candidates are given a code, and are allowed to make campaign statements over state owned radio, and now television statements. As well as more in-depth statements in Newspapers.

The Ukraine experienced continued peace, however, growth was slow. Although industry grew, the Ukraine was not benefiting from the exporting of its goods. In 1957 the spread of communism around the world does not fear the Ukrainian leadership. They firmly believe through responsible governship and economic opportunity the Ukrainians would never turn to revolt against the state.

Enjoying it Julius.

Also, may I recommend asking BananaLee to make your respective alliances flags? He does very good work.

Orders in by Wednesday please.

<De Vries> So you're applying to be my secretary? You need to understand, this is an intensely important job. You'll be privy to state secrets, dodging bullets from communist assassins and running interference between my wife and all my mistresses. Don't worry about that bit until you have to.

<Applicant> Yes sir.

<De Vries> Please, call me Christofoor. Or don't. Whatever. Just get the job done. What are your references?

<Applicant> Here, I think you'll find them satisfactory.

<De Vries> Look, first rule of being my secretary, don't think for me. You're not my brain. You're my ********ing eyes and ears. This place is a jungle. You know the guy in the office across the way? He's the enemy. Guy in the office on the left? Also the enemy. We are surrounded by enemies. Never forget that, or you'll end up like Aleydis.

<Applicant> Aleydis?

<De Vries> Second rule is never ask about Aleydis.

<Applicant> Yes sir.

<De Vries> Alright kid, I'm gonna be one-hundred percent honest with you, because that's just the kind of guy I am. Your references aren't half bad. But like I said earlier, do you think you're really capable of this job?

<Applicant> Sir?

<De Vries> Stop ********ing calling me sir. The only people who call me sir are the grunts. You're not gonna be a grunt, you're gonna be my eyes and ears. That's like... Elevated grunt removed twice.

<Applicant> Yes, Mr. De Vries.

<De Vries> Let me give you an overview of the average day being my eyes and ears. You get up at four in the morning. You make coffee, you bring it to the office with you. If you don't, BAM, I'm interviewing more applicants. You go into the building, Meijer starts asking you questions about what I'm doing. You answer him? BAM as God is my witness you will never work in the entire Empire ever again. You get to my office. I'm sitting in my chair, because when you were getting up at four in the morning I was sleeping in. You know why? Because I'm the Prime Minister. Get over it. Is my coffee cold? If the coffee's cold then BAM. Don't watch yourself? Not on time? BAM! Do I need to be any clearer?

arigold210.jpg

<Applicant> No, Mr. De Vries.

<De Vries> Great. Welcome aboard. It's going to be a pleasure.

<Applicant> Honored, Mr. De Vries.

<De Vries> Oh, oh, careful newbie! Get this into your head. It's never going to be a pleasure, not ever. You're gonna be screening my calls. What's more important, a communist uprising in Poland or tribal violence in the Congo? Lives will depend on your decisions! But not to worry, because every time I will prevail because I'm CHRISTOFOOR DE VRIES. I'm not just your boss, I'm your arbiter. I will destroy you. The minute you step into this building it's hell on Earth. Bring your sunblock.

<Applicant> I won't be caught without it.

<De Vries> Excellent choice, come in tomorrow, I'll get started on systematically destroying your life.

Amazing story. I couldnt hope to write as well as that :D

Well you can give it a try! Fantastic story LoE.

Orders still in by Wednesday please. I've only received two.

Thanks, everyone.

Well, Abaddon had a good point. Tech research and the like should slow down sooner or later, and eventually the best way to get techs would be through tech trading..

Also, remember, the more you include in your orders, the more I can write about. So even if its extra 'fluff', it helps a lot.
