LK140 - Trying emperor

New Updates
I don't see a lot to comment on. We look good shape at the moment. The next goal is to raze that barb city. We either replace it, or grab the marble site.

Got it. Will avoid surprise moves this time, and I agree on razing the barb city and trying to settle the marble.

Any thoughts on research? Bigger cities would increase the science rate and income, so I'm thinking monarchy next for the happiness bonus, and I would go easy on the whip unless there is an urgent need.

Razing the barb city was easy, but Asoka has taken the site beyond.

We could still settle close enough to compete for the marble (e.g. 1 NW of the quarry) but since that site doesn't have any food I suggest giving up the marble and settling 1 W of the razed barb city. I'm now taking a brief break to give you time to comment before settling.

Forget the marble, let us get a city with food.

We should settle the city east of Uruk very quickly before Asoka culture prevents us to do it and also be able to get the wheat under our culture (see last screenshot)

Jabah

Asoka's city over the other side of the ridge has had its border pop, so we should have time to get the city down before he pops borders again. It's a good site, so we should get it fairly quickly, but I wouldn't rush this city.

We do have some time before Asoka gets its 2nd cultural extension, but the longer we wait, the more difficult it will be to get back the wheat, which is one of the few 'positive' food tile for this city.

I think you're fogetting we're CRE, and the fact that the wheat will be in our first ring and only in Asoka's second. What it does mean is that we should settle on the southern tile of the two so that our culture can move horizontally to the wheat.

Good points on the city site near Uruk, but I already used the current settler for the barb city replacement. The first Ziggurat was finished in Eridu, and more are on the way. We are one turn from Monarchy, and with wine and HR we should be able to grow the cities even more. There are still some nice sites to settle, and Uruk is almost done building another settler.

Uh. I am up in the Lazy Maya as well...

I can manage both within the 48h limit, but if Jabah can play sooner (i could deliver this one on Wendsday morning) perhaps a skip (or switch) here, would prevent me from coming up in both at the same time later...

New Updates
Can we please lower the science rate? I like to keep $100 for random event reserves at this point the game.

We should get one city back on military soon. If nothing else, we are adding a city. We've dropped from 2nd to 3rd in soldiers. :(

The good news is we already have 2 happy resources, and a third coming up shortly.

Turns 130 - 145 / 750BC to 425BC

Monarchy was done on my first turn. Teched Mathematics and set Currency.

Turn 132: Got myself a Slave Revolt in Uruk. Payed 10 gold to not loose any pop [pissed]

Turn 136: Settler done in Uruk. Send him to claim the Wheat City Asoka was so nice to Farm it for us :goodjob: (Now his workers are busy roading our land :crazyeye: - i guess to hook up the wheat...)
At the end of my Turnset we have 25% culture on the Wheat plot - should flip within 5 or 6 turns.
Despite beeing creative i started a monument in the new town - we will have to compte with Asoka for tiles later as well, and still in the BC's so monument will double culture soon.

Turn 137: Whipped Ziggurats in Lagash and Kish.

Had screenshots form the slave Revolt and asokas worker roading our desert... But decided the none of them are really worth posting.

Notes:
- I did not revolted to HR yet - with wine hooked up no city hit the cap so far.
- Built a Workboat in Jumbo-town and sent it out to the North to explore the coasts.
- Build Vultures in Uruk to let it grow...

I have a few remarks
(relatively minor, but this is supposed to be emperor, so we should avoid those anyway)

1st : why is Lincoln refusing to talk to us, did we cancel all deals at someone request (yes we do have -1 for stop trading)?
2nd : why are we the only one to have open border with brennus, while everyone is (at least cautious toward him).

I guess someone accept Brennus request to stop trading with Lincoln, considering that everyone is 'pleased' or more with Lincoln and 'annoyed' or worst with Brennus -> that is really asking for trouble (and at the minimum should have been reported to other players).

I might add that we don't EVEN know where Brennus is (probably behind Lincoln - in fact as discovered later he is behing Sitting Bull), so the chance that he could reach us are really at a minimum.

Our warriors are being useless in cities, i will send them exploring with chariot as our exploration is not really good. (well except that Lincoln doesn't want us to pass through).

And Nibru (east of Uruk) is kind of on the slightly wrong tile, would have been better 1S as Swiss (and me) wrote a while ago. (We lost a forest and a plain hill, gain useless sea and will have a bit more trouble with culture fighting)

I also think we should have (had) a discussion about workers improvement, as to me FP with lots of hills means farms+mines for high production (Uruk, Eridu, Nibru), while river grassland with no production is cottage everywhere (Kish, Lagash).
Of course, i won't farm over cottage on the already built ones.

As a quick summary, I build a few more workers (need lots), archers to free vulture from the 'inside' cities, explore all the open-border lands and settle Iron city.

T1
Ur granary(whipped)->WB

our WB exploring north is blocked by Lincoln borders now
Cancel the free gold that we were giving to Sitting Bull.

T2
Lagash library (whipped)->worker

T3
Uruk vulture->settler

T5
Eridu archer->archer
Kish library->worker
Ur WB->lighthouse

Hammurabi (north of Lincoln) is spaming confucian missionaries nicely.

T6
We are the 3rd more powerfull civ !

T11
Currency->Meditation (need to do it ourself, LK will shout if we trade for that later :) - speaking of trading, alphabet could be a new priority since no one had it)

T12
Uruk settler-> archer
Kish worker->worker
Ur Lgth->galley (to -possibly- go for stone)

T13
Meditation->CoL
Settle Iron city
Revolt to HereRul (several cityies are at max happy, in fact should probably have done it earlier, but missed it)

T15

All the 'eastern' part of our island is known now (chariots are coming back). i would cancel deals with Brennus at the first occasion and re-open discussion with Lincoln whenever he will accept to talk...

We possibly could convert to confuscianism, as our 'northern' neighbours are following this religion and Asoka is pagan still , Brennus and Sitting Bull are buddhist and far away.

I marked on the map some other possible cities, I would consider settling (next to) the stone for strategic ressource, getting ur fish (and building Maoi there).
The other 2 are marginal (iron+fish and crab+fur) and in the ice...

Either we build up our economy nicely (going for optics-astro?) or rush someone (but since everyone are pleased with each other but Brennus an dBrennus is far away, that seems a losing proposition to me)

155 BC
We have no deals with Brennus. Lincoln still won't talk.

110 BC
(IT) Forges are always good. Having gold makes it better, so I start research on metal casting.

95 BC
(IT) I hate giving away money, but $90 isn't worth a diplomatic hit from Hammurabi.

20 BC
Asoka is now confused. This increases the debate about adopting a state religion.

=======================

New Updates
I would like to suggest Moai goes to Bad-Tibira. This city has some production to build it (Iron and Elephants), but is mostly water.

On State Religion... Do we have a usefull civic to go along with it ? I think we skiped most religious techs so far... Of course can just take it just for +1 :) but if adopting teching Mono for OR might be nice...

There were two "City"-marks for Nibru :crazyeye:. Took me a while to decide. I think we don't loose the forest (If we do - :cry:) - schould be 4 Peaks+Hill vs 5 Water. Water is not very useful, true, but at least workable and food neutral.

Thats kind of funny. Lincoln snapped out and was ready to make peace 2 turns after a DoW, but is [pissed] for ages about a trade stop... (it wasn't me (unless i went nuts and didn't niticed...) so at least 30 turns now...)
