Venezeula has a worker mining the Iron NW of Detroit. We also saw a lot of their units passing by headed someplace to the east. I will wait until we start the war, capture this worker and build the city.

Chop a forest at Timbuktu to rush the slave.

Rail some more hills while we have the chance.

Trespassers
Austrailia's new capital is Woomera, north of Babylon, up in the Arctic Circle.

Lone Musket of Venezeula 1SW of Freemantle. Looks like a pretext for war.

Venezeula has 3 gold.
We (116) declare War on Venezeula (53).

Catapults redline the Musket at Freemantle.
It takes 2 eMaces to get rid of that Musket (1 of 2, 0 of 1e).
Catapults redline 2 Muksets on our city site.
Two eCavs go Bang! Bang! and two Muskets disappear (3 of 4, 0 of 3e). we gain a slave.
Camp Toccoa is built on the Iron NW of Detroit; start a temple.
Move in 4 Rifle; 1e and 3v.
We snare a Rilfe inside our city limits and block off a Llanero at San Diego.

We cross the border and attack New El Tigre. This forces the Sioux to act.
Sioux (30) declare War on us (117).

We lose an eCav to a trebuchet and Musket in New El Tigre (3 of 5).
vCav and eCav make that hovel ours (5 of 7, 0 of 4e).

We bring Russia into the fun with 42 gpt.
Russia (30) declares War on Venezeula.

We pay China 10 gpt to keep fighting the Sioux. They were happy to get the money. We are happy that they won't (probably) make peace for a while.
We pay the Aztecs the same amount for the same result; just keep fighting.
With any luck, those two will do the bulk of our fighting agains the Sioux.

Snipe a Llanero across the border at Guira (6 of 8).

Bring all 29 captured cannons up to Guira. Send 8 vCav and 1 eCav.

Redline the rifle at Camp Toccoa, just to move him off of the hill onto flat ground.

Rail and Army protect our exposed eMace at Freemantle.

Workers
No advancement, so rail mined hills in our core and near-core.
[IBT]
Oh my, how brave.
Australia (1) and Babylon (69) sign an MA vs. Venezuela. All the way from Canada and they are going to fight in a war in central Asia.

One 1/4 Rilfe 1NW (hill) of Camp Toccoa. It is trying to leave.
One vMusket 1N (mountain) of Camp Toccoa.
Four Llaneros 1NE (hill) of Phoenix.
Three Llaneros 1W (hill) of Houston.
One Llanero 1E of Houston.
One Llanero 2E of Houston.
Two Muskets 2SW of Hobart (forest).

Nine Llaneros have crossed the border around Houston and Phonenix. None attacked, though they had movement to do so.

Oh, one lone Sioux Longbow 1E-1SE of Detroit, across the bay.

Guira (8)
We redline the defenders.
eCav leads the attack, finds a cannon and routs a Rilfe (7 of 9, 0 of 5e).
vCav promotes on Musket (8 of 10).
vCav mauls Musket (9 of 11).

We gain a cannon, liberate 3 slaves and gain 3 more from the razing.

We send 4/5 Cav vs 1/4 Llanero on flat land at Houston; we only win (10 of 12, 0 of 6e).

We use catapults, trebuchets and cannons to redline the 7 Llaneros next to our cities and then wipe them away in 7 straight wins (17 of 19).
The last Llanero, beyond city bombardment range, falls to a vCav (18 of 20).

Our new slaves road the ruins of their former city.
Fort Benning is built there; start a temple.
We have only one Rifle for Fort Benning.

Up north, looking for some spare Rifles for Fort Benning, we attack New Cuidad Bolivar. It proves a tough nut to crack. We lose 3 vCavs to 2 Rifles and a Longbow (20 of 26).
But it becomes ours; we start a temple.
New Puerto Ayacucho, an isolated coastal city, slaughters a vCav and redlines First Cavalry Army (22 of 29).
We raze the city, gaining 3 slaves.

We then send 3 Rifles, a veteran and two conscripts, to Fort Benning.

Forget about the 3 eCavalry in the capital. Blast! Parked them outside the capital, with our eMace. All the healthy, full movement elites are in one stack.

Workers
We chop and rail our way to New Cuidad Bolivar.
We put a settler on the ruins of New Puerto Ayacucho, so that we can rail to it and move First Cavalry Army back to the capital on rails, so it can heal.

I only got five turns done. My CivTime did not exist llked I had anticpated. And tonight my PC has just powered off during the game twice. Not BSOD, just fade to black. Tiem to move the game on.

The war with Venezuela has begun. We have taken four cities and kept two at size 1.

But we haven't made much headway to Caracas. Fort Benning has replaced Guira and that is about it.

We have four uncommitted Armies and 16 Cavalry (13v, 3e) with full movement that have not been used this turn.

There are many possible targets for those forces; San Diego, Kansas City and Dallas are all within reach. But we would have no atrillery bombardments befoe we attacked and that has not worked out very well against fortified Rifles. Plus, we have only had one IBT for counterattacks.

My inclination is to keep this guys in reserve this IBT and use them to snuff out any Llanero incursions.

This turn, we could move some cannons towards Canaima, north of Fort Benning. They would need to be protected by an Army. And it will take two turns to get to the city. Or move them towards San Deigo, Kansas City or Dallas, which could be taken next turn. We have lots of targets and not enough units to get them all. But I am too worn out to figure which is the best way to go right now.

Several untis are still active.

Trading
We have an MA with Russia vs. Venezuela for 42 gpt.
We have MAs with China and Aztecs vs. Sioux for 10 gpt each.

Random Stuff
The Sioux Longbow near Detroit is a gift to lone eMace. But he would need an Army for protection from counterattack.

We have a bunch of cannons in Phoenix. Houston has our catapults, trebuchets and some cannons.

Some of the Armies are only three unit affairs.

Worker Locations/Tasks
Asia

Six workers that railed to Fort Benning.

Nice start against Venezuela. :goodjob: We seem to be getting the ideal result with their Llaneros--they're showing up in manageable numbers to be slaughtered.

It's generally all right to attack riflemen in cities with full-strength, four-unit cav armies, at least once we’ve got the Military Academy built. Occasional RNG disasters are possible, but it's better than the grindingly slow process of moving bombardment units next to everything we want to attack. A knight army can go along to cover the cav armies against counterattack if they're dangerously reduced, or to make follow-up attacks against weak defenders. It can be difficult to take any risks with cav armies when we don't have many, I know.

Broadly speaking, we can send cannon covered by knight armies to recently conquered Venezuelan cities lacking cultural expansions, since that only takes one turn, and attack cities with expansions with cav armies.

There's an asterisked elite cav in Alaska (at Thomas Olney) which should be used when our three cav armies around the capital are given their fourth units.

A Sioux longbowman is approaching Ezra Scarlet, our city in the northern Philippines--easy to overlook.

We should irrigate a mined plains tile at Brasilia and then merge a worker in, so that the city will be stable at size twenty rather than nineteen.

Uxia Cambarro is too strong a city to be left to crawl up to size twelve by natural growth. I'd merge four workers into the town as soon as it reaches size eight this interturn.

I've started playing, but there is a lot going one. I doubt I will finish before the weekend. Several hours in and I've only gotten through T0, and almost done T1.

Greebley - What is your play time like for the weekend of the 4th? I've made it through 4 turns so far, and want to know when I should wrap it. I doubt I will hit ten before that weekend.

I should probably mention my schedule here. My main period of summer unavailability will run from July 31 to early September, so my next round may be my last in the game, and I hope I'll have a bit more than a week to get a lot done. More immediately, I'll also be away on a shorter trip from July 10 to July 16. Thus there isn't much point in my receiving the game before July 16; so if LK takes as much time as he needs to play ten rounds, and then Greebley plays without rushing as well, that would work out ideally from my standpoint.

At this point I've made it through 5 turns, and next week is worse for time. Let us see what Greebley has to say.

This is one of the strongest I've seen the world map for cash. Almost 17K in the bank is unreal.
While I understand why Brasilla has the Hoover prebuild, it is extremely painful for me to be not making armies there.
With Universal Suffrage under construction, I have no choice but to keep it this way.

I was right to be worried about Babylon. They show a 5 tech lead vs. us. I didn't like them being next to the worthless Songhai. Them being #2 in cities count is a challenge.
For now all we can do is keep getting stronger, and larger.

I wake up our fortified workers and change Brazil to be size 20, and merge a natural worker in. I'm hoping these were left this way for the next player.
We still have a crap load of forest to chop in Siberia for shields, so we can't afford them to be idle.

I shuttle a cavalry to the Philippines, and kill the long bow. Of course, that one goes elite when it will take another turn to get back to the mainland.

We complete ToE next turn, so I sell Persia scientific method for $12 and $130/T.
(End of session 1)

(IT) Stupid wars continue with Australia declaring on Babylon.
As expected, we grab complete Theory of Evolution. We do the standard atomic theory and electronics grab.

1110 AD (1)
Atomic theory goes to Babylon for replaceable parts and $165/T. I'm very happy to get this for worker speed.
We still have multiple semi-productive cities not fully railed. For example: Dr. Carl Hill is 75%+ productive and working 5 tiles without rails.
Atomic theory goes to Egypt for industrialization and $140/T.
All of the other civs are useless for GPT, so all I can do is scrape up some cash for our map.

Brasilia is swapped to Hoover, due in 4 turns.
As suggested by NP, I merge 4 workers into Uxia Cambarro despite the worker shortage.

Apache is razed for 2 workers. Bugs Bunny replaces it 1 tile south.
Our "elite" cavalry in the Philippines fails to kill a mounted warrior.
We kill an injured galley, and the Songhai has left the game. :)
Elmer Fudd is built in Siberia.
San Diego is captured. I'm going to gamble on this one, since it never expended borders for Venezuela. I am happy to find all American citizens, so it shouldn't flip. We do grab two workers hiding inside the city.
Sioux Smashing Cavalry forms an army while razing Sioux City for a couple of workers.
Tweety Bird is built to for a choke point around the Suez area. All units should take the long land way around letting us pick them off easily.
We snag some workers by the city.
Crow Creek is razed, as size 8 is to much of a flip risk. We get 4 workers for our troubles.
Daffy Duck is founded.

Our borders are way too long with Venezuela. I kill a stray by Hobart, some more by Cana.
(End of session 2)

The big upgrade to Bef and artillery begins.
(IT) Stupid wars continue with Zululand declaring on the Aztecs. Argentina declares on the Aztecs.
It Be Salty is hit pretty hard. We got Bef upgrades just in time. The number of rifles there may not have withheld the attack.

1120 AD (2)
Atomic theory goes to Persia for sanitation, and $203/T. That was all his GPT, so sanitation was a bonus.
Atomic theory goes to Indonesia for communism. We have a few marginal cities that police stations will help.
I sell Argentina monarchy for $128. I may as well grab his war bribe money.

We kill another mounted warrior in the Philippines, and we now have a regular Bef.
Size 1 Samara is captured with 2 workers inside, and a Russian citizen.
I get to kill stray Venezuela units all over the place in Siberia.
I really wanted to simply our lines, but going slightly in Africa gets us a natural source of incense. This is better than giving the tech leader Babylon some obscene price for it.
Lakota is razed gaining 5 workers. I snag 2 more workers next to it. Foghorn Leghorn replaces it.
(End of session 3)
Oglala is razed giving us 5 workers and a bucket. I'm getting a laugh with the number of other nationalities workers I'm finding in the Venezuelan cities.
Henery Hawk is formed to claim incense.
(IT) France and Venezuela ally vs. India.

1130 AD (3)
Marvin Martian is formed.
Chicken Hawk Bef is formed while clearing 6 units around Henery Hawk giving us another army. We grabbed a cannon during the process.
Carrot Eating Musketman gives us another army clearing a stray unit near Bugs Bunny.
Eludium pu36 explosive space modulator gives us another army as we expand from Marvin Martian. Omaha is captured. I hope it isn't a mistake with 4 resistors. It is time to throw in the conscripts.
Spirit Lake is autorazed. Porky Pig is formed next to it.
Sioux Falls is captured.
Pawnee is temporarily captured. Beaky Buzzard replaces it.
Size 11 Hidasta is razed giving no workers.
Mandan is captured at size 2, and we still get stuck with a resitor.
I really didn't expect to wrap up this portion of my plans so fast. The Middle East is now ours.

At this point I stop attacking, as I want this scattered force back together before going back to Venezuela.
(End of session 4)

(IT) Russia wants an MPP. I'll pass, I don't want to get dragged into their wars.

1140 AD (4)
I don't know why, but yet again I have Venezuelan troops in the Cana / Sar Carlos area.
Cana you believe another Cavalry gives us yet another army for killing a longbow.
Cana loves Loony Tunes Cavalry gives us yet another army for another longbow kill.
I'm running into problems of not enough cavalry at this point. I don't like wasting armies to kill lone units.
Size 4 New Xinjan is captured. It comes with all happy Chinese citizens and a future artillery piece. This completes area around Turkey.
Dallas is captured, and I am disappointed to get 2 resisting Venezuela citizens. I was hoping for friendly Americans. At least we got another 3 workers for it.
Petare is razed. We get another 3 workers for our troubles. We snag another 2 right next to the city.
Tweety Pie is built 1 over to get locking borders.
Kansas City is razed, as size 10 is too much to deal with. The fact the city was built on a wheat tile was another reason to get rid of it.
Pepe' Le Pew is built 1 over to replace it.
El Dorado is captured resistance free.

Now that I have artillery to work with I'm more constrained by workers to lay rails up to the cities, and stack protectors. We have so much to rail I don't feel we can afford any lost workers.
(End of session 5)
(IT) Well so much for taking out Australia. Babylon took care of that for us.
China and Russia get friendly.
We complete Hoover Dam. Now we need some factories too completely to take advantage.
An unexpected flip occurs with Samara going back to Russia at size 1. What sucks is that gives Russia another source of iron and horses.

1150 AD (5)
What's Up Doc Cavalry gives us another army.
New San Cristrobal is temp captured. Speedy Gonzales replaces it.
New Mereda is captured despite size 8. The borders never expanded, and it is behind our lines thanks to Speedy Gonzales. We can quickly recapture it if needed.
New Cumana is captured. There is enough forest behind it to safely chop out workers to reduce it to size 1. We can always use more workers.
Persia suddenly has cash, so I ship him replaceable parts for $278/T.
(End of session 6)
China and Persia sign peace.
Our biggest problem was pirates taking out 2 ships in the convoy heading toward the last of the Zulu.

I'm still playing along, just wanted to get some of this posted.

Tremendous progress, especially in generating armies. The rest of the Venezuelan campaign should be a rout now. Thanks for the midway report.

It's an amusing oddity that we've built Hoover before we have a single factory to benefit from it.

This is one of the strongest I've seen the world map for cash. Almost 17K in the bank is unreal.

Yes--normally the world's general poverty, compared to the standard game, is one of the conspicuous features of this mod. The difficulty of getting gold back at the end of a sequence of trades is a constant factor--again, normally.

While I understand why Brasilla has the Hoover prebuild, it is extremely painful for me to be not making armies there.

This is a fairly common irony at this point in the game--we correctly put the Military Academy in our strongest city, and then we can't use it for armies at first because the strongest city has to pre-build one of the ToE-Hoover double. It's still the right play in the long term.

I know we are starting to hit the production steam roller. With the first factories up we have several cities building cavalry / Bef in 2 turns. These ares freeing up the next round of cities for factories. I hoping a decent amount of those are also 2 / 3 turn units.

In addition, a lot of our cities are now at size 12 and rail optimized. I can tell we are getting better as I could afford workers for getting lower productive cities up to the max they can give. I'd rather have another cavalry in 4 turns, then 5. Every little bit helps.

I've gotten up to partly through turn 8. I'm now on break for the 4th. I should be able to finish the last of it early next week.

I'll finish 9 tonight, upload the save, and publish the last 4 turns of the report.

It has been 1+ hours per turn with figuring out the border puzzle to crunch Venezuela, getting all our productive cities to max production (plus size 12). Worker actions alone have been a killer with rails to all core cities, and figuring out how many tiles to mine to not leave a ton of extra food.
The worst of the worker stuff is now done. I still have a few stray cities to fix that aren't optimized. A decent chunk of workers are starting to chop Siberian forest, and rail / irrigate our low-shield cities.

I want to give Greebley enough time for a good set before passing off to NP.

With Venezuela broken, Europe and Africa will quickly follow. The smashing of America and Venezuela broke the big boys on our landmass. Our next challenge won't be until we start moving into North America for the last few percentage points.

Thanks for the update. That all sounds great. :goodjob:

1160 AD (6)
Canaima is temp captured. Road Runner is built nearby to replace it giving access to more cities.
Marturin is temp captured. Sylvester is built nearby to replace it giving access to more cities.
Ciudad Guayana is razed and replaced by Saw A Puddy Tat.
I sent an army to take a peek at Caicara, and was only had a musket as the top unit. A cavalry army charges it and captures it with 3 workers, and 2 pults inside.
Merida is razed netting 9 workers and 2 catapults.
(End of session 7)
We have enough artillery at this point, so at least some of the catapults will be disbanded for shields. At this point cash to rush cavalry is more valuable then upgrading catapults.
India suddenly has some cash, so he gets nationalism for $70 and $90/T. At this point I like getting the other civs in the Americas strong to counter Babylon / Egypt.
We can't get enough natural workers. I've burned a handful to help places like Iron Man gain 3 or 4 more shields when I got an irrigated grassland tile for it.
The move doubled the cavalry output from this city. These are the little things why keep saying the steamroller going.
Every city in Siberia with a food tile is building settlers and workers.
(IT) Thebes is universally suffering.

1160 AD (7)
Granny is founded.
Granny pulled out the umbrella, and whacked Bryansk out of existence. 6 workers are found there.
The umbrella also whacked Los Teques away.
I take advantage of our Russian MPP and lay enough rails to reach Puerto Ayacucho. It is promptly razed for 5 workers.
New Unlundi is captured, and the Zulu are down to 1 city.
El Tigre is razed netting 7 workers, and Venezuela lost a first ring city. We are starting to eat away at their core.
Beep Beep Cavalry arrives during this assault, giving us yet another army.
The Coyote Is After You Cavalry follows up with yet another leader. I'm definitely in army feast mode right now. I'm going to need to rush more cavalry.
Hunting Wabbits is founded.
I wipe out 3 longbows that landed by Orlando.
(End of session 8)
Sam Sheepdog, Whats Up Doc and Tazmanian Devil are formed.
Coro is razed giving us 7 more workers.
At this point the offensive stops due to lack of stack protectors to rail up to the next cities.
I take $7/T from Argentina for engineering.
(IT) Russia is become less friendly as they sign a trade embargo with the Zulu against us. For some reason I sense that won't last long.

1170 AD (8)
I ship 4 artillery to the Philippines to score one lousy hit. We lost units, and the rifle is still on the hill. At 2 HP he can't take the city, but we will probably be pillaged.
El Amparo is captured by cavalry armies that moved next to it last round. We got 2 workers, and a catapult. Cultural borders are becoming our biggest challenge.
Cecil Turtle is founded.
(End of session 9)
Cana Loves Leaders Cavalry gives us yet another army.
Cuidad Bolivar is captured with 2 resistors and 3 workers inside.
This opened up the path to raze Tumererno for 5 workers and 4 older bombard units. I'm disappointed how little there borders moved.
Beep Beep is founded.
Guasipati is razed.
A blind army rush razes Barinas for 5 workers.
Sufferin Succotash is founded.
Lack of stack protectors ends the offensive again. The only reason I've been able to push this fast is Venezuela is spent, with almost no new units showing up.
However, I can't risk 2 Llaneros showing up the same turn costing us worker / artillery stacks.
(End of session 10)
I ship the clueless Aztecs Magnetism for $11/T. Pretty weak price, the tech is pretty obsolete.
(IT) This is the ultimate in useless alliances - France and Babylon vs. Venezuela. You know the AI is clueless how to do a full scale invasion of another land mass.
We follow up with Persia and France vs. Venezuela. I have no idea how backwards France bribed Persia into the war.
China is smoking something, since they want use to pay them $63/T for an MPP.

1180 AD (9)
Acme Products, Coyote is after you, and Daffy Duck are founded.
New Zimbabwe is captured for $22 and some workers. I get the message I was hoping for.

Cumana is razed. We get 8 workers and a bucket.
(End of session 11)
Caracas is razed. Losing the capital really has to hurt them. We get 11 workers out of it, along with a bucket.
Acarigua is razed netting 6 workers and a bucket.
Duck Dodgers, You Are Dethpicable, Wabbit Season, Duck Season, and Baseball Season are founded.

(End of session 12)
