Preturn- We look good.
IT- Borders expand as expected.
T1 460
Start irrigation project.
IT- Uh oh. 10 Sumerian pikes and MDI show up on the border, along with a caravel off our coast. I doubt they're here to say hi. The AI doesn't like me in this game. Second time I'm being invaded in as many turnsets.
T2 470
I halt our irrigation for the time being and bring our workers into safety.
IT- Even more Sumerians show up, with two entering our territory. Quite ironically, the song I'm listening to is "Dust in the Wind" by Kansas. I chuckle a bit with the line "nothing lasts forever"
T3 480
Well, if we are to be dust blown before the Sumerian wind, I'll go down fighting. No deals possible with Sumeria. I manage to get a loan from them of 150g for 10gpt. They of course declare the second I ask them to vacate. We desperately need help, but I can't buy anyone in without selling our last luxury sources. I'll see if we can hold out for a turn or two to get more gold, because we're close to a deal with the Russians. Our cats take 2hp off a pike. Much more present is the stack of a knight, MDI and pike sitting next to Seoul. A horse manages to take 2hp off the pike before retreating. Now we have to endure the attack and hope to have good RNG luck next turn, as we'll have two swords produced.
Before the turn ends, I notice our gpt is up to +22 from +17. With this, I can get an alliance with Russia against Sumeria for 144g and 18gpt. We do it. Hopefully that will tkae some heat off of us.
IT- the RNG hates us, we lose every battle we fight.
T4 490
The situation now is a 2hp knight, 2hp pike and 3hp MDI by Seoul, and 20 assorted units next to Ulsan. Our cats take one hp from a pike.
One sword loses flawlessly against the northern knight, promoting it to elite. Then we lose a horse flawlessly. We are hopelessly outmanned in the north. It pains me dearly, but I pull our troops from Hyangsan, seel the improvements and torch it, hoping to make a stand at Seoul. Scorched Earth is better than another city for Sumeria. This quite painful, as it takes away our furs.
IT- Russia signs Germany against Sumeria.
Our soldiers fight valiantly, but Ulsan falls. To add insult to injury, it was a lousy Enkidu that put the finishing touch on the last defender. With it go our catapults, so our chances of defending our lands have just taken a dive.
T5 500
Not much to do. We're hurting bad. Cities are unhappy. Chaos. Panic.
IT- Sumerians move troops around.
T6 510
One of our horses manages to get revenge for the people of Hyansang, killing the Sumerian knight. We then kill the Sumerian Pike. All thats left in the north is a redlined MDI.
IT- More insulting, the Sumerians use our own catapults to bombard our city.
T7 520
We manage to kill two MDI. Our northern area is clear. The south is a joke. All Sumerian forces are covered with pikes, so our horses are quite ineffective.
IT- A longbow kills a horse at Wonsan.
T8 530
With only horses left to defend at Wonsan, we're screwed there too. I pull the troops and retreat to Pyongyang. Wonsan fades into memory. As a nice bonus, our work on the FP has been scrapped due to the fact that we have too few cities.
IT- The Sumerian Scourge continues it's march of death.
T9 540
Our horses perform well, and damage all of the pikes in the stack, actually killing one.
IT- Cathy is a savior, as she pulled up next to Ulsan and must have unloaded some troops, as the Sumerian stack reversed course awfully quick.
Sumeria completes Copernicus in Athens.
T10 550
Quietest turn yet.
Summary
Well, to say we're hurting is an understatement. Our survival depends on us being able to fend off Sumeria's medieval stack with our 5-10 horses. It's possible, I suppose. At least they don't have anymore knights up here.
