It's not the same as a bloody fracking move. We won't have to move topics or memorize some new location. It's a goddamn hyperlink to here! It's not like it will totally and permanently alter NESing, it's just another way of getting here. It's advertising. What the hell is so wrong with advertising to get more people to play? I fail to see how it's "rushing" at all, if anything, it's common sense. There is absolutely nothing to lose by advertising this subforum. Nothing. All this "oh, why rush to move" conservatism is really pointless when we aren't moving!

Excuse the language but I just touched base on both these issues in my last post, only for both to be utterly ignored.

I feel we should quit arguing and stuff. I mean, while the more senior NESers are uncomfortable with the situation, the general consensus is to just add a link on the Civ 4 sections.

Like I said before, we'll have to suffer an initial wave of 12 year old leeters but we will get some decent ones from the chaff too. It's no different from the links in our sigs, I feel.

With the majority having spoken, shouldn't one of us ask Thunderfall or something?

I would think having a NES-based exam would be a wee bit too elitist.. Imagine Kowloon Academy, das..

Okay then, maybe we'll just treat them like we treat each other, i.e. backstabbing and generally... not letting them off easily, in the first game anyway. Those who run away we don't need, those who stay are worthy. ;)

I don't know how many times I have said why I am conservative on this subject. If we move during such high times, we will get a huge influx of newbies who will flood the forums and screw it up for everyone. A link is a bit more scaled down, but we will still get the mass of people.

Now, I dont understand why you people in such a bloody hurry. We're aren't disentigrating. We aren't dieing out. Its still the same. Whats the huge rush? Like emu said, is the sky falling?

No, silver, you obviously havn't been here long enough to tell that.

Read my post completely before you post some criticism of it.

Considering we apparently have a grand total of 35 people and a NES takes about 20 - 25 to function properly, I fail to see how more people could possibly be a bad thing, and don't see that as a strong argument at all. If we get 100 people (big stretch) and only 10% of them are worth anything and stay, that's still a 28.5% gain in valuable population. "lololroxors" will burn themselves out very quickly and whoever's left will likely be somewhat decent.

Regardless, it doesn't really matter, as the majority has voted in favor. That was enough to kill a move, so it's enough to make a link.

Well, to be honest, that was what I was thinking of.
Let the new ones experience the terrifying might of the crazy NESers... Or something like that.

We definitely will separate the wheat from the chaff so we might as well.. After all, sooner or later we will be doing it methinks.

Problem is, some might worry about the moral side of backstabbing people in their first game and stuff.

symphony an NES does not take 20-25 players to function properly. An NES with 10-15 players is more like it. That is the normal amount.

A huge influx of newbies can easily change the dynamic of how NESes are played. Trust me, we have already gone through a smaller one earlier this year, and it dramatically changed the way an NES is played. Ask any of the older players. Even better, look around the NES forums and notice every saying how NESing is not how it used to be.

Not to mention a whole bunch of newbies not knowing what they are getting themselves into when joining and NES, making the mod and players work, and then just dissapear.

Whether this would be a good thing or a bad thing is a 50/50 chance. A chance I would rather take my time in taking.

Anyways, you are right, the majority has spoken, and I agree that it should be made since most people want it. I doubt there will be a huge amount anyways since it is just a link.
