Looks like Civ 6 is done: Kevin called April "final game update"

Don't think they ever did. One day the patches just stopped

I don't think we will ever get a definitive answer

Sure, but you're also choosing to ignore that no reference whatsover is made to NFP in the actual hoodies, which is the object the workers are actually keeping. It just says "Civilization 6: End of Cycle"

You talk about the Rorschach test and then seem to proceed as if it couldn't apply to your own interpretation.
What interpretation? My point was that interpreting the hoody to mean that Civ 6 is over is a reflection of the interpreter more than the hoody. I'm not saying that it means that there is going to be more content. It says end of cycle, which could be referring to Civ VI, or it could be NFP. No one knows, at least no one actively participating in this conversation, at any rate. The Tweet itself references NFP and specifically NFP - the poster clearly was referring to NFP. Now, does that mean that there is more content to come? No, it doesn't. But it's a pretty clear thst they didn't post it as an irrefutable declaration that Civ VI is finished either, which was my point.

I'm not the one telling people that it's anything conclusive. Do I have my opinions? Yes. Are they influenced by my biases and so forth? Probably. But I'm also careful to note that they are just opinions, impressions and speculation based on what I've seen when I'm posting them. I'm also intentionally saying the truth: We don't know anything, even if some are jumping to conclusions.

I think the real question is what does the front of the hoodie say?

We need a picture please! :mischief:

Why did @Andrew Johnson [FXS] like your post... :shifty:
If I were overconfident, I'd say that he's hinting that there is more content coming and he's giving us a hint.

If I were thinking about the debate, perhaps I'd say that he agrees with my overall point that people are drawing conclusions based more on their own thoughts and desires than the evidence put before them, and it has nothing to do with who's actually right.

The cynic in me says he's trolling us.

The pragmatist in me says that we'll never know and it's all guess work anyway.

I think we will, but it'll come in one of two forms:

  1. The announcement of NFP 2 (or whatever the name of the new content is).
  2. The announcement of Civ 7 as being imminent. Once they announce Civ 7, I think it's as good as said that Civ 6 will have no new content.

I was agreeing that the amount of speculation is terrifying! I suppose that's why y'all are fanatics. There has not been an official announcement and I do not think that people are leaking hints. I certainly am not and do not intend to - ever, about anything, even playfully. I enjoy discussing history here (and appreciate feedback on writing and text fixes, etc), as I think it enriches the experience of the game, but that is absolutely it.

That's pretty much what I figured - I thought you might have been agreeing with my point in general, but "likes" are so inscrutable on social media that I don't bother reading too much into them. Don't worry, I was only joking about you giving hints.

Honestly, I think that the team would get a kick if they saw the endless theories they spawn on here with their innocuous actions/comments/etc. I would find it hilarious if someone was analysing the angle of my mug in a video to figure out what content I was going to release next!

Personally if they announce a Civ 6 spin-off a la Civ BE I’d imagine that’d be the end for civ 6 too

I did consider that, but I'm not sure. The lack of surety in that is down to ignorance ony part more than anything else.

I think communications have changed too much with the social media era to make such a comparison relevant.
2K didn't get the memo. :shifty:

If you look back to how even Civ V was marketed compared to VI, it's much different and much more social media oriented. Even if you don't do social media, the demographics Firaxis targets do. In Civ V, virtually all details about an expansion had to be sussed from a bunch of interpreted bywaste in magazine articles. They only started doing livestreams at the very end.

Now, we get very detailed videos about everything, lots of livestreams, and we don't have to wait for the magazines' NDAs to expire.

So, if and when they decide to announce that Civ VI is done, it will almost certainly coincide with the release of the Complete Edition and the announcement will be likely be fully distributed through official social media accounts.

Furthermore, they probably won't be jumping the gun to release the Complete Edition immediately after the end of a content push because that would hurt the sales of that content.

IMO Civ6 doesn't need any more content. It needs several more balance/bugfix/polish passes though!
(and better modding tools)

Agreed. I’d rather have a game with a dozen civs where everything worked properly and the UI wasn’t a bad joke

Speaking as a UI modder. It’s not so bad that I’d call it a joke I don’t think. They DO have to strike that balance between presenting enough data to make decisions and not overwhelming the player (especially more casual players) with information. Too many UI mods go overboard with providing that information.

Not to say there aren’t issues. Why they haven’t already moved the City Strike button is a complete mystery to me. It wouldn’t even be that hard to move!!!!
