ls612's C2C Units

All i can say is HUH??

SO it's been that why for a long long time. DH has stated that the bear will update to the Knight once you reach the level to Have Knights.

Goes to show you how long its been since i made it this far HUH???

Tell me about it! :p

We just don't make it into the later Eras anymore between new versions.

Actually now that we have a Bear Rider and a Bear Knight the bear units no longer need to upgrade to knights anymore.

But isn't that dependent on playing with Alt Timelines? Some dont use them??

I was just wondering if, some named unit, beginning at the earliest we can, that can WALK "one" tile into the water, as if fishing or looking for something valuable for the tribe (ie Goody Islands), just a thought . . .

I'd like it just after gathering or at the same time infact. Not related to any water stuff until later when that unit could possibly be a SpearFisherman or something like that . . .

Remember, if it can go on land and water it can go on any water plot inside your cultural border.

Its neat he brought it up though... I'd LOVE it if we could get the Nomadic Tribe (in the Nomadic start project) to be capable of travel over coastal water only if a particular tech is unlocked - Explaining the island jumping of some very early cultures.

Also... the note DH made would be fairly easily fixed in the DLL - I spotted that code portion there recently and it wasn't too complex so would be easy to fix with a simple bool tag on said unit but I don't know much about how our truly amphibious units currently work otherwise.

I am not quite getting what you mean, dont you have to have cultural approval to be in there in the first place? It would be like a galley trying to enter your territory, it needs open borders first, correct? I remember waaay back in FfH1 where we had a "Water Walker" it was a Blue Warrior. Heck that was over 5 years ago already. Dont get me wrong here, i am just asking.

Currently, if you have a canoe, for example, that can't travel into open ocean, it still can do so provided its traveling in ocean tiles INSIDE your borders. He's pointing out such a unit would, according to the current code structure, unavoidably be capable of doing the same thing.

Now lets see if i get this correct, if we put the unit as only 1 tile from land or only coastal waters but NOT enter ocean water, i know thats there already a code for that, just add that to the preq.?? Or am i getting way out of whack?:crazyeye: If if just whack say so, and i will forget this venture . . . SO

I think we should just keep to rafts being the first unit that can enter the water. Its not that long before you can get the water huts with them. Having a unit that can go on land and the water so early i the game would be too imbalanced.

Plus if you notice, all water goodie huts are on coastal tiles and not ocean tiles. So if you could enter coastal tiles you could get them all which is too un-balanced. Right now that are like carrots to urge you to build water units to get them and explore. I think that is a good mechanic that shoud be left as it is. Thus making rafts you first milestone in where you can go.

I just knew someone would say that, i dont like taking the "higher" up techs on the tree till i have to . . :p:rolleyes::mischief:
