ls612's C2C Units

Here you go ...

C2C - Promotions
http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=458193

Not sure why you could not find it. I just used the search button and put in "Promotions" and it came up. :dunno:

Thanks.
Cause I didn't use search nor go back more than 1 page. And it might have been named something else or carried over into a different thread like what happens very often. So I didn't dig deep enough. Had other things on my mind at the time too.

It would IMO be better as a disposable thing. IE, it will trigger and resurrect the unit, but then it will go away and the unit can be killed normally. That would require some python though to do.

Actually... this was only my project insofar as I was asked to merge it in. By ALL means if you want to take a look at the code and adjust it to improved balance, be my guest. I can then take that as a project OFF my list. What do you say?

The tag is bOneUp. I did not thoroughly evaluate its affect - just merged it figuring we'd get feedback and then have to take a deeper look at it. Here we are at that point then.

I believe i have the python already in game from DH, its called respawn. (I believe)

I am certainly not good at Python, so that would be something for someone else to do. Or you could reuse the Respawn code and add a clause to delete the promotion after use.

@ls612

Here is a new icon/button for the Spartan Warrior so it has a different icon/button than Leonidas (hero).

Done now on the SVN.

There's two subjects we're talking about here. The original Respawn promotion works like you say... the promotion vanishes once the unit is given its life back. That is handled in Python.

But there's a dll driven TAG in use (bOneUp) on the new promo that Joseph had struggles with. The actual dynamics of that tag are something I blindly merged and did not attempt to fully understand. There may be ways to vary its effect from the Respawn promotion so that we have two differing effects but at the same time make SURE the OneUp tag is brought into a balance that denies it the ability to become far too OP in play.

I'm not sure what the best answer for adjusting OneUp would be, and we'd want it to not be a carbon copy of the Respawn promo, but it appears to me that its ability to happen multiple times in one round is outside the bounds of OP. Koshling said the tag should have a chance of working... I'd think either limiting it to functioning only once in a given round or forcing the unit to teleport back to the capital or any unthreatened city might be a couple of possible solutions. Or reducing chance of working each time it takes effect? I dunno...

Point being all that's IN the dll.

AWESOME! That graphic is PERFECT! ;) So sweet man!

Everything looks spot on about that with one noteable exception. The strength seems a little shy. The other Apocalyptic units are at 11, 12, 15, 15, 15 so 10 would make it a little substandard to the rest of that line where in most cases of the Gunpowder Throwing units, the strength appears to be fairly comparable to its other contemporaries.

Ex: Infantry: 34, Modern Grenadier: 34.

So I'd suggest at least 13 or 14. It's fairly standard so far for the post apocalyptic units to be given the Renaissance level abilities of comparable unit types so the comparison to the Arsonist is pretty much right on but to also have much higher strength than that unit level.

Anyhow, just imo. The fact that you found the unit art and put together an excellent layout based on the Arsonist is just wonderful! Well done H!

So you got your now PC up and raring to go again?

Aside from a few older programs such as 3DS Max6, Evolution, Outpost and all the old Sim games like Sim Earth, Sim Life, etc. I love those old games but even when using compatibility mode it was not working. Its funny since the newer the program the easier it was to re-install. It was once I got to programs that were older than 2000 that I ran into problems.

Do you know how to use Compatability mode for old programs?
