I also was thinking about self destructing units. Like Suicide Bombers.

Note that in AOE2 they explode and are self destructing units. I have wanted them in Civ4 for a very long time but no one has made a model for it yet (I have asked a few times).

So I finally was able to find an appropriate graphic for it. Its a tweaked Mayan Light Swordsman that we actually don't use. I tried to pick one that looked at generic as possible. I also removed the jaguar hood. Then I made a custom icon/button for it.

The upgrade path is now ...

Stone Maceman -> Obsidian Swordsman -> Light Swordsman

Which makes a lot of sense since the Maceman line already had a +10% City Attack ad then the Swordsman line has 20% City Attack. So its a nice transition from one unit type to another.

I also removed the upgrade from the Spearman to the Light Swordsman. It did not make much sense and I think I was the one who had that added in the first place.

EDIT: So now the units have a much more natural flow ...

The animation seems off. The arms are in weird spots. Do you know if its the model or your just using the wrong animations?

Also please don't forget to make the Cloud Destroyer (Steampunk) unit.

Couple of Ideas:

vertical take-off and landing aircraft (VTOL): Eg Harrier Jumpjets and F-35B

You could fit double the amount in a aircraft carrier, though there range would be small.


Amphibious assault ship/ Light Carrier: Wasp Class, Invincible-class.

Can only carry VTOL aircraft and helicopters. Cheaper than a full size Aircraft carrier

Also think the Aircraft Carriers and laster stealth fighters price shoild be increased. They should be expensive units to have.
