So what do you think about allowing Sweden into our pact?

sp1023, you income is based on everything, tourism included. If Lucky decided to take tourism out of the picture, most of us would not have very much to spend.

Greece I know now mostly relies on tourism to keep afloat, but they also have other industries that other nations will buy goods from, like stone, wine, and some other goods.

We will accept you as members of the EEA, as your iron reserves and partial control of the Baltic do provide a substantial benefit.

OOC: Does Greece receive income for tourism? Last week I did a research report for Greece, and most of my spending is totally OOC. So, I was thinking, I have the largest port in the Mediterranean, right? Does that impact anything?

OOC: One would think Istanbul would be the largest port in the Mediterranean, although I would not know for this time and alternate history. Regardless, I doubt Athens is the largest port on the Mediterranean.

@ lucky, I see you changed my IC but shouldn't it be at 8. It was at 6 IC last turn and then you said I got +2 IC, so should it be 8?

OOC: No, in present day times, Greece has the 2nd largest port. I believe a city in France, Marseilles or something, has the largest port in the Mediterranean Sea.

Proof That I am not rambling: http://alexandros.com/Greece/info.html

@Luckymoose: Here, check this out. Proof that I wasn't lying in my PM. It's from the link up top, just scroll down a little bit.

Natural Resources

Greece is poorly endowed with natural resources of high economic value. Only 23% of the land is arable, while the rest consists mostly of barren mountains. Forests, probably abundant in ancient times, have to a great extent been depleted. Subsequent soil erosion has made reforestation difficult. Greece has little black coal, and its lignite is of poor quality. On the other hand, the country does have significant petroleum and natural gas deposits, located under the Aegean Sea, near the island of Thassos. The deposits of bauxite and iron ore are rich in metal content, but the reserves of other commercially important minerals, such as chromium, nickel, copper, uranium, and magnesium, are relatively small. Although the waters surrounding the country are inhabited by a large variety of fish, only a few species are plentiful.

1. You are correct, I believe either Marsielles or Alexandria has a bigger port.

2. Good luck building off shore drilling platforms. They are hard to build in the sea, and most nations never started building them until the 1950's.

OOC: He could always use a slant drilling system...you know, drill the oil well at an angle so it can reach the reserves without crossing over boundaries or using complicated off-shore techniques.

OOC: Maybe that could become a new technology, drills for resources!

Drilling for oil on land is still used in that time, just not at sea. Texas had their first oil drill built in the 1900's. So theoratically, you can build oil drills on land. Off shore drilling platforms requires knowledge of currents, sturdy pillers and a map of the land under the sea. (cant build one if the sea floor is riddled with ridges now can you. :p) Also take in account shipping traffic and sea lanes, captains dont like platforms being built on their lanes becuase then they have to learn a whole new route. Then you have the weather, hurricanes, floods, tropical storms etc... now granted Greece and the Med Sea doesn't see many of those but stormy seas can cause trouble not just for the platform but for the workers too.

Then you have enviromental impact, if you strike oil, you have to contain it quickly to prevent the oil from damaging the sea life. There are so many complications with offshore drilling that most techs and equipments needed are not available until the 1950's.

We will not cede any British territories to France. If France is unwilling to allow Naples to exist outside of French influence then war will continue.

OOC: Orders should be coming soon I hope

Kingdom of Italy was only asking for uniting in an united nation a population, the Italians, divided in two. The King hopes that the votations in Naples will prevent any war, and also hopes that the votations will satisfy either France, either Great Britain.

@Lucky: I know you did not add the 2 IC u gave me, so I wanted to clarify that. Also you did not add 1 ic to my research of armored vehicles

OOC: Unfortunately, I am short on time so I am leaving this particular NES. Try to find someone better than me to take Prussia? I will still be around to check up on them once in a while and I don't want to seem them absolutely demolished. ;)
