M-NOTW XI: The Murderer's Web

Winston Hughes, if you won't stop pressuring me to give up my father's will, then you need to be locked up. I shot my uncle yesterday, who shot my husband and was likely responsible for posioning my father. I've let someone you claim to trust look at it to confirm that I read the will accurately. I think there's something you're hiding. It strikes me as strange that as good a detective as you seem to be has not been assaulted by the killers.
Verate, who did you protect each night?

Night 1: Winston Hughes
Night 2: Winston Hughes
Night 3: Earthling
Night 4: Earthling

Night 4, I was about to protect c_h, but Winston said to protect Earthling again.

I protected Earthling last night because I saw a killer in the hallway. Yet again it was a he.

Vote: landlubber One of the few males remaining. And Myself, Hughes, and Earthling are all innocent. By process of elimination, landlubber must be the evildoer!

This argument is a straw man. You do realize that "he" can be used as a gender-neutral term? GMs have done it before. Read the beginning of this post from ATPG's Star Wars mafia.

Yes, but Darth has not specifically said that.

See, this is the problem...

You won't let me handle the Will, and the only reason you can give is that you find me suspicious, despite my having been responsible for catching both of the killers so far. And you say it's strange that I haven't been attacked (which is by no means clear, given that I have been protected twice), but you too are still standing, despite being the person who everybody expects to receive the lion's share of the millionaire's fortune.

To my knowledge, not one other living player has seen the Will. Your word is all we have to go on about its contents. Why should we trust you? And what could you possibly have to lose by letting me inspect this most crucial of documents, unless you have lied about what it says?

Edit:

I shot my uncle yesterday

Yes, you did. With his own gun, I note. How did you get your hands on it? And where is it now?

Well, I did give the Will to Earthling. Darth Caesar, can you PM me if you prohibited that for some reason. As to why I am still standing, that's likely because my husband protected me until his untimely death. If you're so suspicious of me, why don't you investigate me?

So Verarde, the past two nights, the ones when you protected Earthling, are the ones when you encountered a prowler, likely saving a life, correct?
The first night, two people were murdered who were not locked up.
The Second night, no one was murdered who wasn't shackled
The third night, one person was, and drumstudent scared someone off.
Last night, no one was and drumstudent scared someone off.
So the question is, what caused the drop in kills on night two?
I hypothesize that one person came after me and my husband protected me.
That still leaves one kill missing.
The detective and you both have evidence indicating Earthling's innocence.
You have the explanation for two of the drops in kills.
I have the explanation for another of the drops in kills.

That leaves landlubber, classical_hero, and Winston Hughes. To be honest, my suggestion that Winston Hughes be locked up was mainly born of irritation, his successes at night give some excuse for his boorishness. landlubber was swift in joining the condemnation of civplayah. I therefore conclude that the true culprit is, regrettably, my friend classical_hero.

I think Verarde may have mixed up his nights. I'm pretty sure he protected Earthling on nights 2 and 4. (Edit: More precisely, those are the nights I specifically asked him to protect Earthling)

@Earthling
Can you confirm that Autolycus tried to pass the Will to you?

@Autolycus
And the gun?

I did in fact receive the will, and it didn't say anything different from what Autolycus posted before. I of course have no other new information still.

I wish it weren't so, but I can't see really a better option than suspecting landlubber as the last villain, maybe trying to double-bluff us with the poisoning from the start.

Well, I'm glad to see my friend classical_hero cleared. landlubber, how could you betray the family like this?

Let me explain to you why I shouldn't be lynch.
I am a Miller, or perhaps even a Death Miller; however, I was only told I was a Miller. Although this role hasn't been used in quite a long time, lynching me will lead to mafia victory. One to two mafia alive are still here, (out of three killing- knifer, gunner, strangler) four if there is one with no kill. So, lynch me, you lose. Simple as that. I can only do my best to convince you, however, despite the fact that most people rush to the "OMGWTFBBQ he was scanned as mafia he must be lynched" thing.
I believe that Winston and C_H are the last two mafia, Winston scanned me as mafia last night, and, knowing this is false, used my status as a miller/death miller to manipulate the town.
Lynch who you want, but this will result in a hideous loss.

You are so scum, since he fingered both of the other two mafia and he also has scanned two people as being innocent, me being the other one. That leaves only a few suspects and you are the best case out of the lot.

Well, what I believe happened was that you two bussed civplayah, hoping to confirm his status as an cop. However, what you didn't count on was this. Here, civplayah unintentionally busses your other teammate, Seon, leaving Winston to "scan" him and, gasp, miraculously reveal him to be mafia.
Give it a rest.

I don't believe they're both scum, since if they were, on day 3 they just needed one vote in the wrong place to win. I don't buy that they would have instead concocted a fiendish plan to make Winston seem like an accurate investigator in that circumstance. If Winston is the final scum, then maybe they would have pulled that. lt's conceivable the cops are another scum team, in which case we're sunk if we lynch you, but if that's the case, they've played a great game and deserve the win.

I agree; they have played a great game and do deserve the win that they will eventually get.
Bravo, Winston. You have proved your superiority in the game of mafia yet again.
