Mac/PC tcp/ip troubles

So, me and my friend have been playing on LAN network for 3 weeks now. Now all of u a sudden we can't play anymore. I find his Ip on the LAN but I can't connect to it, screen just freezes for 10/15 seconds then puts me back to the lobby. Any idea why? ( Would love not using hamachi :/)
