MacLordsv01 ~ By Any Means Necessary

OK--the mopping up against Mao proceeded very quickly (one city per turn), which was good, because our economy was one city razing away from collapse the whole time. In 1676, the Chinese were destroyed, and I immediately switched to universal suffrage and emancipation to deal with unhappiness issues, relieve ourselves of a crushing maintenance burden for 3 turns, speed the building of the palace, and help with righting our economy before taking on Liz.

On the next turn, Ghandi shows up and offers to become our vassal, completely voluntarily. I think he doesn't want to become the next target for the mighty cossacks. Having already made one major move with the civics change, I thought I would give a brief window for consultation (and hope that the approaching storm doesn't knock out power briefly). I don't see the down side, but maintenance costs have been an issue. If y'all check in this afternoon, what do you think? Should we accept Ghandi's offer to become our vassal?

Good news. I say accept the offer.

Here's my report:

1670: Begin researching steel. St. Pete finishes Forbidden Palace. Raze Guangzhou.

1673: Raze Tianjin.

1676: Raze Goth, and their little piercings, too. The war with the Chinese is over. Given widespread discontent and a looming budget crisis, I adopt universal suffrage (to capitalize on the towns) and emancipation (which our people have been demanding now that the Brits and Indians have it). Three turns of anarchy begin.

1679: Ghandi offers himself as a vassal. Uh, sure. It does mean we can make things miserable for Liz soon.

1682: Units continue moving back from the wasteland that was China.

1685: Augustus demands democracy (his people, too, most likely). We refuse. He doesn't like Ghandi being our vassal.

1688: The Glorious Revolution is complete. I move to some civilian builds for the short term--library in Yaroslavl, bank in Hippo, theater in Utica. After that, I'll start churning out anti-redcoat grenadiers.

1691: Lacking better ideas, I start the Colossus in Carthage. It'll be 9 turns, Carthage works 2 seafood, and I don't think astronomy is a high priority for us right now. Change it if you don't like it. Utica starts library.

1694: St. Pete and Utica begin producing grenadiers.

1697: All units are back in home territory. Steel is still 7 turns away, more or less; Istanbul will complete the new Palace next turn, which should help our cash flow. We can probably declare shortly after finishing steel; Liz has shot up the power graph, probably due to upgrading units to redcoats. It's going to be a UU vs. UU showdown.

1697 traded Scientific Method and Military Tradition to Augustus for Rifling and 340 gold. Figured that since we have been in Nationhood forever for basically nothing, draft Riflemen. Start making some Confucian missionaries since we have cities making military units that aren't our state religion. Run 7 specialists instead of 2 in the GP farm.

1718 Cashed in GM in Delhi for 2850. Started researching Steam Power for Ironclads for resource defense from the English. Just realized that Gandhi was one turn from researching Steel, redirected his efforts to Biology. We should keep on top of him and steer him towards peaceful techs that we might want.

I would like to get started building some ironclads before we declare on the English. We have enough money to promote some of the more experienced trebs and cats to cannons before (and during) the war. We could also just move into position which would take a couple of turns and just hit them, also.

Yekaterinburg should continue to run as many specialist as possible. Working a tile that produces two food doesn't really get you anywhere in a GP farm.

Hej Guys.

I have great news, my daughter is back home since friday afternoon. Last weeks will be remembered, as it's a daddy's worst nightmare to have a sick child. I hope she will be soon the frisky girl she used to be.

Thanks for your support,

That's wonderful news. A sick child is a father's worst nightmare, and I hope your child continues to recover quickly.

Pre turn maneuvers - Went ahead and drafted three riflemen before ending. We have plenty of happiness in these cities so no worries. Build this up big time.

Turn 1 - 1730 AD - Prepping for invasion of England. Most of her cities are guarded by 3 redcoats. I plan on attacking 5 cities initially. Karachi, Newcastle, Hastings, Warwick & Oxford. Drafting, upgrading cannons etc. We have a lot of troops so England is in big trouble. I see 3 -4 turns of prep. Upgraded lots of trebs, rushed a few buildings.

Turn 2 - 1732 AD - More troop movements.

Turn 3 - 1734 AD - Ditto above.

Turn 4 - 1736 AD - 5 armies are in place. Pulling workers into cities as roads finish.

Turn 5 - 1738 AD - Hrmm.. India says we are too weak to protect it and it have any interest in being our vassal. Not a smart move IMO. University finishes in Istanbul, going to rush Oxford with a GE.

Turn 6 - 1740 AD - Oxford University is in, Istanbul is producing a whopping 223 beakers per turn! I'm going to declare, can't sit here with 5 big armies forever. Dropped science to 60. Karachi is razed. Oxford is razed. Whoops! caught lizzie with a settler and 2 longbowman with the 5th army near Hastings. My thinking is we can rush an ironclad or 2 when steam is in before Liz can get a Galleon over here.

Turn 7 - 1742 AD - English calvary killed a cannon, Cossack took him out. We captured Newcastle and installed a governor, lost a cannon and a Grenadier. Wawick is captured, lost a Cossack.

Turn 8 - 1744 AD - Making more grenadiers. Hastings is captured, lost 2 grenadiers. Phase 1 of the war is complete with the razing of Karachi and Oxford, and the capturing of Hastings, Newcastle & Warwick. Liz has no ships in view. A stack of calvary and a treb is outside of York. I have 3 divisions converging.

Turn 9 - 1746 AD - Steam is in, set to Railroad. Coal in Rostov, Yaroslav and New Kirk. Rostov has iron and coal, but St. Pete has massive hammers. I will leave it up to the group where Ironworks goes.

Turn 10 - 1746 AD - My Cossack on a hill scouting died nobly taking out a cat and 2 calvary before being blown away. Traded Steel and Democracy to Caesar for Biology, and traded wine for spices from him too.

Okay. Many troops are converging on York from 3 directions. Liz has a loose 2Calv/Treb set that is probably retreating to York after failing to get Warwick back. Another army is nearing Coventry. Fair amount of unhappiness, but we are eating England for lunch. Railroads in 16 turns, workers are safely away from front. 2 Ironclads in queue in the south coast, would suggest rushing those when reasonable to head off any potential naval attack from England.
