Madden 2005

I hate Madden 2005, ESPN NFL 2K5 is much better. If you don't have it yet El Justo, DO NOT BUY MADDEN. There are three reasons ESPN is better than Madden.

1. ESPN is $20, while Madden is $50-$60.
2. All of the ESPN overlays, features, announcers, and Sportscenter.
3. The running game is much more fluent and realistic, Madden moves too slow and is hard to operate.

So save your 30 bucks and buy ESPN NFL 2K5.

I just bought it yesterday. I've only had about two hours to play it, but I was quite impressed.

My daughter can't wait to buy it! ;) She likes the 'make a fan feature' , which is new, and she loves to make players. She says she will play as the
dolphins and make a running back and qb :crazyeye: -- I wish she was their
GM :D .

I made myself as a QB, but I don't want to play him on my team, I really want to see what I can do with Joey Harrington, So I left him in Free Agency, and I am gonna see how I do.

Dont listen to china444, he is just a silly saints fan seeking attention ;)

I think IGN.com gave it a 9.6.

ugh, yeps. couldnt find a testeverde or a henson icon, so i went back to LT

I just recently purchased my PS2 and got NCAA Football 2005 for it.. I've never been a big Madden fan but love college football, taking schools to the NC and making my own schools, I dig the whole recruiting process.

Anyone else prefer College Football to Madden?

i like to rent the EA college games, save the rosters on my memory card and import them into the second yr of my franchise.

I cant play the college games, mostly because I cant get over not having the names and having to do them manually.

WOOT! #13 threw a long rainbow pass to #5 right over #32's head!!!

That's why you simulate the first couple of seasons, only do the recruiting, then start playing the games with your new recruits :)

As well as a few players you've added, like yourself, your friends, your mom...

I own NCAA 05, and I've rented Madden. 05 is the best college football game ever. its a lot harder then the other ones, (as far as passing and AI go), but its still a blast. I love the home field advantage

Thats what I was thinking, but I like familiarty like with the players.

Say, making Chance Mock not totally suck :vomit:

My daughter bought Madden 2005 yesterday ;) , she loves it. WHAT is with
the 2nd stringers being put in automatically  :( ??? Can you do
anything to prevent this or quickly change back to 1st string? So far I have
played it twice as the Panthers and my 2nd string :spank: butt. Much fun!

Do you mean pre-season or regular season?

If its the reg season, just go into game options and adjust the fatigue sliders. Or make the gametime length shorter.

If its preseason, you should let your second stringers play. To get more experiance and points, and whatnot.

I finally had a chance to play it this weekend. I am playing as the Lions, and I finished the preseason 4-0, which had my hopes up high. That swiftly ended as I started off 0-2 in the regular season. I finally won in Game three against a Donovan Mcnabb-less Eagles, who had Ty Detmer  as their starting QB. (Mcnabb was out for the season with a torn ACL.)

My game crashed during my fourth game, and when i tried to reload it, it said the file was corupt and had to be deleted. :(

I am rather frustrated to have to start a new franhise.. [pissed]

Oh well...

I've got all three football games (NCAA, Madden, and ESPN), and you can make a case for each one.

NCAA '05 - Unfreakinbelievable stadium noise! The atmosphere that EA created in this year's version is truly a work of art, and neither NFL game (Madden/ESPN) can touch it. Matter of fact, the NFL games are kinda' boring after playing a couple of seasons of NCAA. Stadium / home field advantage actually affects your players! So if you have a rookie HB during an away game at a big stadium, his composure rating will suffer (as a rookie) and he will not play as good, or might even fumble more!

The play itself is great, but you'll find yourself struggling against top-ranked teams while creaming the lesser teams (just like real-life college ball!). I like the head tracking of the receivers while the ball is in flight.

ESPN2k5 - Nicest eye candy of all three. The ESPN license is top-notch (except for the poor lyp-syncing), and Sega added all kinds of gimmicks to it's franchise mode (almost too micro-managed for my tastes). However, the stadium atmosphere is the lamest of all three. Your home crowd will be going nuts for a 1st and 10, but will be dead silent when your D is trying to stop a critical 3rd and 2. WTH?!

And make no mistake, Sega's ESPN2k5 is much more arcade than sim. For instance, you can "power-up" your RB (by holding down the power button), as well as string moves together (spin-juke-stiff arm-spin-jump-etc). It is not a bad game (like I said, you can make the case for any of them), but it definitely has more of the arcade style that many gamers prefer.

Madden '05 - What can I say - it's Madden! Some people are stale on the franchise, so they push ESPN over it simply for something new. But EA always upgrades, and this year is no different. They really went after defense this year, and if you are familiar with the Madden series (especially last years), the first thing you'll notice is the game is FREAKIN' HARD!! (really tough on All-Madden level). Defensive AI is superb, and with the new Hit-Stick and individual defensive audibles, a whole new level of realism is being realized.
