Do not post in this thread unless you are announcing a game you plan to host. If you wish to discuss mafia, go to the Mafia Discussion and Information thread.

Please read posts 2, 3, and 4 of this thread before requesting to host a game.

Current games (in progress):

Huge Game
  • None
Large Game
Small Game

Games Accepting Sign Ups:

Huge Game
  • None
Large Game
  • None
Small Game

Hosting Queue:

Huge Games
Large Games
Small Games
Flexible Games

Too many games at once results in games not getting the required amount of sign ups and frazzled players and hosts. Keep in mind when hosting a game that there many of the players on this site play Night of the Werewolf, TWC Mafia, and .org Mafia - so be patient with the timing of your game to ensure that there are players willing to play who have enough time to do so. With that in mind, the limits on games are as follows:

Speed Mafia Games
Small Games
  • 20 or less players
  • 1 at a time
Large Games
  • 21 - 39 players
  • 1 at a time
Huge Games
  • 40 or more players
  • 1 at a time
  • Replaces Large Game

Currently, the rest of the rules are under debate. Voice your opinion here.

If you want to host a game, please post in the following format:

[Game Name]

Host: [Your Name (and your co-hosts name if there is one)]
Number of Players: [Self explanatory]
First time host: [Yes or No]
Progress: [%]

[Setting and any other information]

Without BBC said:
[B][SIZE="4"][Game Name][/SIZE][/B]

[B]Host:[/B] [Your Name (and your co-hosts name if there is one)]
[B]Number of Players:[/B] [Self explanatory]
[B]First time host:[/B] [Yes or No]
[B]Progress:[/B] [%]

[Setting and any other information]

It is fine when you first announce your game that you leave some places blank, but please go back and edit your post as you progress and fill in the blanks. If you go three weeks without editing your post or keeping me updated privately as to the condition and progress of your game, I will send you a PM reminding you to do so. After a month with no updates/reports, it will be removed from the queue.

The queue is in no particular order.

Please wait to accept sign ups until the current game of the type you are planning to host is roughly 3/4ths of the way completed. Once your sign up thread is up, PM me or post in the Mafia Information thread with the link.

GMing Tips and Advice

Balance

Role Randomization

People use their own methods, but I have one that is both easy to learn and easy to perform - quick, too. To start us off on that journey, I have gone to the liberty of creating a Google Doc for you to practice on. Follow these instructions, and you'll be good to go:
  • Fill in Column A with names of the CFC players (In this example: A, B, C, D, E, F)
  • Fill in Column B with the character roles (In this example: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6)
  • Fill in Column C with (this exactly, without the quotes) "=RAND()"
  • Copy and paste "=RAND()" into however many rows you need (In this example: Rows 2-7)
  • Highlight Columns B and C
  • Click Tools -> Sort... (This is on the toolbar across the top)
  • Check the box that says "Data has header row"
  • Sort by Column C; A-> Z
  • Click Sort
Behold the randomization!

BB code

Just use it. Please. It makes a huge difference. Embrace the BBcode! A very detailed table of CFC BB code is located here.

You might as well move The Game of Awesomness down a bit in the queue, I'm currently focusing on Star Wars Mafia II.

Put it at the bottom for now, and I can look at it again after Star Wars Mafia II is finished to see if it should be moved again.

Per request:

Knights of the Old Republic Mafia

Size: Huge
Hosts: Arakhor & Takhisis
First time hosts: Yes & No respectively
Progress: 80%? - balancing & paperwork needed

It's in a style similar to Zack & Choxorn's Star Wars game and involves characters from both KotOR games.

Progress is being made on my Simpsons Mafia, so some updates:

It's maybe 60-70% done. There are several really interesting new-ish mechanics (I hope) and some really great/intricate Simpsons trivia everywhere I think.

A good 20-something or so roles are almost entirely ready to be written, and all the main story/mechanics of the game are ready. The game's looking to be at a sweet spot size of 30, maybe 35, could be adjustable but won't be much smaller than 25 and probably not larger than 40 but I doubt we'd ever hit that upper limit with player activity here anytime soon.

Also has an excellent working title, I believe, but that's still a surprise.

Here's the biggest questions I have though:

1) I would certainly still like to have a co-host for the Simpsons game if anyone is interested. It'd only make things better for the players I'm sure, and since it's a popular topic and someone might have ideas of their own they are dying to try, welcome to incorporate that.

2) I could host either the Simpsons game, or the fantasy game first - knowing that then my next game on the queue would be at least several months later probably. So this if for all players out there - PM me or see the other stickied mafia discussion thread, again not posting here - which game would you be most interested in having hosted first? In the near future, that would be a couple games out or a few months away, we'll call that this winter, then I wouldn't be hosting the other game probably until after a lot of other hosts/games of course, like next year/who knows.

OP needs updating to show that Vanilla mafia is over and Spongebob mafia is accepting sign ups.

Diplomacy Mafia is 100% ready, BTW. Would merely need an hour or so notice to construct an OP. Hopefully it'll make it to the front of the queue before I forget how I'm going to run it. :D

Fallout: Vault 11

Host: Myself & anyone who wants to help
Number of Players: 15-20
First time host: Yes (I'm saying yes because I am still a n00b at hosting)
Progress: 75%

Located in the Mojave desert. Vault 11 is not like your typical vault. The majority of vaults are host to notorious social experiments. the Vaults were never meant to save anyone. Vault 11 is home to a computer that unless a human sacrifice is made, the computer will shutdown all life support within the vault thus killing all of it's inhabitants. Early in it's history the inhabitants argued until they settled on the idea of electing an individual to be the sacrificial lamb.

In the Mafia universe, some point in Vault 11's history, some of the citizens unhappy about the situation have turned against there own fellow man and started killing other citizens with there own hands. They call themselves the Vault Mafiosos. In reaction to the strings of killings that have happened, the Overseer has decided to reform the voting process. Only this time, voting the suspected citizen of being the Vault Mafioso to be the sacrifice.

If all of the Vault Mafiosos have been eliminated, the Vault Dwellers will be awarded a surprise...

Civilization Mafia

Number of Players: I'm planning 12-18, but will go over that if more people want to join. So flexible, but probably small.

First time host: Yes.

Progress: 0%, but I can get it together pretty much as quick as needed.

Description: The leaders of the world have gathered together at the United Nations to discuss problems and to get rid of the people who will be a problem. Will have unique mechanics and there will be no mafia or innocents, just some people's goals will be more sinister than others.

Remake is MIA, should we make a new thread? If so I volunteer to do it.
