You modded the portraits? Can't you share that with us? :)

Me? Mod in Civ4? :eek2: Sorry to admit it, but I really shouldn't have mentioned that. Since Ahwaric went of hiatus I've uninstalled civ4 to make more space. But what-the-heck! I tend to look through huge amount of fantasy art every day. If you got a portrait you're looking for I can see what I can dig up. Non-scantily clad barbarian females who are attractive yet respectable in non-silly poses are in short supply though.

Any more details for what concept that works "Mahala" would be appreciated. Does she have to be armed and armored? Does it have to follow the "primitive barbarian in pelts" theme?

ok, i'm changing my vote from ObiWan Kenobi to newer Mahala ... but i can't change it in poll, so ... take that in mind when deciding ... :D

We just need a picture of a female in full, WARM, armor.

That's all eh? :D Well at least she's isn't an half-orc like that last player wanted...

I'll see what I can find. I assume 3D and photorealistic art is out. After all,
iIt has to have the hand drawn feel to it like the others in the game.

I always loved that picture. I have it in my files since the beginning of my modding and NEVER did I think about using it for Mahala. Shame!

i think the search is still on, armor should be fur or leather likely with an animal pelt as a cape...exposed chain/steel would get too cold and condensation would probably form icecicles on it. So far i still like the new malhala pic, she isn't entirely suited, but she has the demeanor down i think.

So Valk, are you trying to encourage people to mod in a picture of Obi-Wan Kenobi as Mahala's Portrait?

I actually like the old one better.

If people mistake her gender because they haven't read the lore, that's really not my problem.

Valk, I'm not sure why arcticnightwolf's picture, which shows a cloak she would presumably have wrapped around her when not fighting, is less reslistic in terms of warmth than the current picture which clearly leaves her midriff exposed with no suggestion how it gets covered.

As to realism of exposed skin in either case, I would reference the "shirtless idiots" often seen at Bears or Packers games. And the fact that one of the Doviello leaders is a werewolf.

Yes, dianae is a good artist. Unfortunately, much of her art isn't suitable for FFH :)

I'll upload the three appropriate images I had lying around. Will see if I can find something more later. To bad she's not an elf. Fantasy artists just love drawing elven females.

None of those really work IMO.

Yes, not perfect... But the best yet. :p

Whut? Opera made the poll, not me. Were it mine, it would have featured Pie.

Meh. I dislike the old one for other reasons too; The lines are blurred and dark, making the whole pic look blurry and unfocused.

It's not so much the arms as it is the legs. Her legs are in extremely thin leggings, and a cloak would not help at all there.

Shirtless Idiots don't live in that weather in that outfit. Also, only one Doviello leader is a werewolf; The doviello are not a lycan civ. Just because Baron is does not mean the whole civ is. Or even any other than himself. :p

Yeah, I know. :( It's a though concept. She needs to look fierce or feral (not smiling sweetly), have authority (regal stature and not too young), be caucasian (which is a shame since many good images feature asian females), be fully clothed and armored (in leather/fur/crude iron armor) and be attractive yet muscular (since that's mentioned in her lore). And she should preferably have something that hints of living in a cold enviroment.

7000 images of female warriors sorted through and no good hit yet. Seems to be an inexplicable trend that the colder the environment in the image the less clothes the woman is wearing.
