Main Download Information

The only critical bug I know is the Revolution component which fails if you use the options defect or lead the rebels. If you can figure out what's wrong with it, we'll get v2.93 faster. ;)

Couple feature changes are indeed experimental - AIs need to be made more competitive and that's why there's couple improvement/research related changes.

For multiplayers v2.92 should be more stable (less OOS) but I need feedback about it before I know if it really is better...

Well, I'm 80% done merging it with my Alpha version of 1.74, then I can test it out and see what new bugs I added. From there, I'll see what I can fix. :mischief:

any idea when new dawn will be updated to the new 2.92 RoM?

No offense, but "any idea" why exactly Afforess should do this?

Seriously, I'll repeat myself: don't vote so eagerly for new versions. At this moment we have a real stable and nice version which can be played for a long time. Enjoy!

As we say in Poland: "better" is the enemy of "good"

In fact, New Dawn due to dynamic and professional development (hats off Afforess) has become quite independent branch. As you know, Afforess is open for any good ideas and tweaks, so once someone is proposing to merge this or that, he should point out exactly what elements of new RoM 2.92, Better AI, BULL, RevDCM others are REALLY missing in AND.

Thank you for your attention :)

PS. It is not personally towards Zeggy :) it is more general.

the problem is i lost my pure rom 2.91
when i install patch k, i got a xml error, which very likely to be caused by my "unpure" rom
so instead of downloading 2.91 again, and download 2.92 later when AND is already compatible (and somehow Aff fixed the bug :) there )i'll be glad to make a shortcut, which in this is case is download 2.92 and wait Aff for make it compatible :). But, is 2.92 bugs really game breaking?

Nb: Just fyi, right now i downloaded 2.92 since last night, it's been half a day and it's still 64%. You know why?Because i downloaded it with a 5 KB/s connection, and i'm a maniac :p

Revolution component is off by default so that this bug gets avoided. And if you enable Revolution and don't ever choose "defect" or "lead the rebels" options during revolution (ie. you stay in control of your 1st empire) there shouldn't be problems. However this doesn't mean that there isn't some other bugs that haven't been noticed yet but at least my test games have been running smoothly.

I personally NEVER play with Revolutions anyway.:mischief:

Would someone please let me know how I can turn off flexible difficulty?
In my current game I have been lucky enough to be at or near the top of the score list (before all the wars start) but the difficulty has gone up two notches so I expect big trouble soon.

When I started this custom game I looked for anything resembling a flexible difficulty selection in order to turn it off but saw none. Did I miss it? If so, what exactly is it called?

Could you please package the file in a 7zip?

I think he means he wants you to compress A New Dawn 1.73.exe into a .7z file, and then host the compressed version.

A quick test I did myself reveals that (using LZMA ultra) compressing it into a .7z reduces the file size by about 17.7 Megabytes. A bit of savings, and it only took me about two minutes to compress on my machine.

Civ_King will have to install it on a Windows machine, and copy the files over; I'm not making a special version.

Yes, my install creator actually allows the type of compression 7z uses, but it changes my install creation time from 10minutes to 25 minutes. Way too long.

This is awesome! Thanks for all your work on this mod mod! Hope you can all do something similar in Civ5. I love the more realistic gameplay!!!!

I play with realistic culture spread but somehow culture never spreads to ocean! AI culture acutally does sometimes so it will be a bug.
Maybe because I play as Viking - but my assimilated cities neither don't get ocean in there culture.
Another minor issue is that AI culture more than one tile away stays there (forever if it does not get in my culture, i.e. like ocean that I never reach) after I capture their city. It's a problem as some cities like this are not connected to my capital for quite some time.
The last thing is a request - realistic culture spread makes culture spreading very slow and maybe not until 3 tiles after reaching 9000. So it would be nice to have one or two more culture levels, maybe 18000 and 27000, however, I would prefer the steps 7000 15000 25000.
Else I really love realistic culture spread and I want to play always with it as soon as it is problem free!

Thanks so much for your great mod!!

There is also an option to avoid culture spreading over water tiles. Are you positive that's not selected too arbor?
