Main Download Information

just installed my civ iv complete from amazon on yet another system (windows 7, 64 bit) and BTS runs without a problem. the stock mods also load. but i dont succeed with installing rise of mankind 2.91, RAND 1.75C or RAND 2beta ...

in all three cases after i click on load mod, my desktop is shown, i see in the taskamanger that civ is somewhere around 10 or 20 mb or ram trying to do something before like 30 seconds later i get a crash report from windows.

and yes, i run bts as an admin.

any ideas anyone? I m really lost here and surprised that no rise of mankind mod works.

The Rise of Mankind Mods do work. But be advised that the version of REV in both 2.91 and 2.92 has Known bugs. If you play the Mods with REV turned Off they play quite well.

Did you by chance place the mods in the c: Program files path or the My Documents path? If you used the 2nd there will be problems.

Also did you check to see if you had a Rise Of Mankind Folder inside of the RiseofMankind 2.91 Folder. If so Place the inside Rise Of Mankind Folder in the c:Program files....\BtS\Mods Folder (or equivalent Civ IV Complete path) and remove the other ones.

Same procedure for RAND1.75C.

Also as the Mod is loading hold down the "Shift" key. This will clear the cache of old .ini data that can cause the mods to not load or have missing parts.

I'm sure we can figure this one out. :)

Fixed from what? Details are needed to reply.

Thanks

I guess he was speaking of the old problem with religions not being founded and wonders limit = 0 which are caused by not clearing the cache after the AND2 installation and before starting the game. :)

Can someone help please?

I have posted this in FAQ, too. Don't know where this belongs, actually.

Download A New Dawn 1.75 800+ mb file, click on it, select RUN and immediately got this Application Error:
The procedure * could not be located in DLL WSOCK32.DLL.

Tried downloading twice, using XP.

Any ideas?
Thanks!

Replied in that thread, but same answer here. It's not a d/l problem. You have a missing or bad file in your windows OS.

Does it actually say "the procedure *" or does it have specific name?

JosEPh

Joseph II:

It says *, i have typed it as it shows in Error.

So solution is to reinstall the windows?
Thanks!

No!

Just update/repair the DLL WSOCK32.DLL.

You've downloaded an obsolete version. IIRC the installer had problems. Download the game following instructions here: http://forums.civfanatics.com/showpost.php?p=12024883&postcount=1
You'll get the latest version.

After I have installed the SVN, downloaded the mod through SVN, then exported it to a new folder: Where do I place the mod then?

in

...\2K Games\Civilization 4 Complete\Beyond The Sword\Mods

or in

...\Documents\my games\Beyond The Sword\MODS

None of these locations work, I'm not sure how to start the mod?

Error post

Don't worry, no problem :) And the link I've provided IS the one in the first post ;)
I know sometimes SVN can be confusing and a plain installer or a zip might be easier to use. But the current version is still a beta and it will be released as "final" once a couple of bugs will be solved; then we'll have an installer or more probably a simple zip/rar.
Once the "final" version is out (AND 2.1) we'll start working on the next version :)

hehe yeah, I missed the link in the first place, but then I noticed it was actually there, and edited my post :)

DO you know how to install the mod after having downloaded it through SVN? I exported the root folder of my working copy to a new folder not in program files. Then I moved the contents(which I renamed Rise of Mankind - A New Dawn) to folder H:\Gamefly spil\2K Games\Civilization 4 Complete\Beyond The Sword\Mods.

However I dont know how to start the mod now?

EDIT: I found out to start *.CivBeyondSwordWBSave maps from the folder H:\Gamefly spil\2K Games\Civilization 4 Complete\Beyond The Sword\Mods\Rise of Mankind - A New Dawn\PrivateMaps

Is this the correct way to start Rise of Mankind?

No, if you want to start the mod, you need to start BTS, then go to "Advanced Options" and "Load a Mod": there you'll be able to select which mod you want to lad. Or, you can edit the shortcut on your desktop (or make a new one) which will have as target
"H:\Gamefly spil\2K Games\Civilization 4 Complete\Beyond the Sword\Civ4BeyondSword.exe" mod=\Rise of Mankind - A New Dawn

(quotes included). That way you will always start BTS with the RoM-AND mod loaded automatically.

Oh I have another question. This may be a dumb question, but when I installed the SVN ROM AND2 from the link: Is it the complete game and expansion? Is it both Rise of Mankind AND A New Dawn?

It's complete: Rise of Mankind + A New Dawn :)

Hey can someone show me where to download the latest stable and most updated AND 1.75 ? I used to play that alot and last time I donwloaded it ,the xml files were outdated or something and someone told me I had to update svn and download from somewhere else the AND mod, provided me with a link but I can't find it anymore.
I dont want to try the newest beta stuff , I had my own changes I did to xml files and worked well on and 1.75 ,at least I got much less crashes than wen I tried the newer versions.

Look inside the spoiler in the first post of this thread. There's a link for 1.75 and for the 1.75C patch. :)
If you haven't tried it lately, I think you should try the latest svn revision of AND2 anyway. It's more stable now and I think it's even more stable than 1.75C.

Hi all.

I have been playing RoM for a while now but have had some trouble getting through a whole game because the turn length gets too much. I came looking to see if there is an update but I Dl'd RoM so long ago I can't remember what version I got. I can't find any way of checking what version I have.

I am Dling the 1.75 patch now based on the fact I have 'A New Dawn' concepts in my Civopedia but Abyssinia is still a playable faction.

Can anyone tell me how I check my current RoM version to see if I need to complete this D/L - It will be a long while on my connection!

Thanks

I don't remember for sure, but I think there's no way to know which version you're using except by knowing what's the content of every version and telling it by differences. :(
But if your problem was turn lenght, I suggest you try the latest SVN version; after AND 1.75 many things were improved and turn times in AND2 were also shorter than in ver 1.75.

I found out if you hover over you Civ's Flag (Next to the mini-map) it shows the current versions of CIV and the Mod you're running!

Turns out I was running a pre-AND build - got 1.75C up and running - loving the changes - Will have a look at the SVN version although it looks like it's in a constant state of flux? I'm pretty casual about having everything up to date so I might just wait for a stable build release.

Big up's to all of you's for RoM, stellar work :D
