I have a comment regarding the accumulation of xp for great generals. It seems extremely slow. I have battle a fair number of battles playing several hundred turns. Still I need 85 xp out of 110 to get a great general. Even when my units gets xp from battles its not always that the great general xp count is moving; at least that is what I think is happening.

I had the same situation, at Eternity speed, I assumed it was because the battle was too easy, and the experience gained was only small, a fraction of a %. I'd go 3 of these battles for 1 point of great general movement.

I eventually got my great general, and gave it the leadership promotion (for 100% experience) and now the great general points seem to move faster, so I assumed that's what it was.

I just earned 25 great general XP in three battles, which seems extremely off considering the otherwise very slow xp gains. I first had 82 great general XP until next general. The battle was my inexperienced maceman vs. a mailed knight. Maceman lost, as expected. Then my mailed knight, with two flank promotions attacked the mailed knight, causing the enemy mailed knight to withdraw(defense withdraw). Lastly my second Mailed knight with two combat promos attacked and won. I then looked at the great general xp and now I only need another 57 xp fpr the next general.

Guys,
Hate to be do this to you, but this Is the Wrong thread for these discussions.

Please move them to the proper thread(s).

Thanks

So I played for about 580 turns on old 1.75patch C with NO crashes until I met a dead crash no matter the graphic options or whatever I tried to do different in loaded saves,I canceled the traded maps I thought it's because I have all world revealed but it doesn't matter even with 20% revealed world witout map trade.
I'm going to try the newest stuff but I got one question ,does the game loads faster or the risk of crases is lower if I disable virtual memory ?
I run win7 x64 with 4gb ram and an old 8800gts with 640mb and I play with large map, no barbs and about 15-20 starting civs,no revolutions,allow pangeea. I read before that loaded game in virtual memory can cause frequent crashes, is true ?

It's your video card!

Oh no it's not, I had ran out of video memory in games before when I used huge map and I usually get te "out of video memory" before crash so I started playing large maps...also I got to turn 750 before with 20-30 random crashes on same game settings like tis last game with 10x more units in game...
Here was about rennaisance about to hit musketeers, the game with 750 turns I was already on heavy tanks and nukes.
It's so very dissapointing playing one game 4 days with so much pleasure then out of a sudden bang...no way to tell what's wrong and why it will crash at the same point :( :( : (
I too suspected it may be video memory but then I set everything on low ,minimum resolution single units and just about everything else turned off,canceled map trade on a savegame and hado nly 20% max uncovered map rest was black...still same turn will crash.
I would just like to know if there is a way to tell what's wrong, how to find logs ? does it say what's wrong? maybe something i've modified in xml file just whatever...a reason :(

Oh yes it is.

Hi i have a problem with this mod.. i downlaoded the full version repo and after lauched the installer a choosed mod options (formations , marble etc) and estracted it but after extraction i lauched BTS and i havent found A new dawn mod ...where i mistake??

Start BTS, (I just did to check),

1. Advanced
2. Load a Mod.
3. Load A New Dawn.

IF you can't find this, 1st check where you installed the mod.

C:/program files/firaxis games/Sid Meiers Civilization IV/Beyond the Sword/Mods

Here you should have A New Dawn, or Rise of Mankind - A New Dawn.

if not, where have you installed it.

Or simply just re-install it again, it SHOULD default to C:/Program Files/Firaxis games/Sid.... etc

Simplest way to launch the mod, is to copy your Beyond the sword icon on the desktop, the 2nd one, right click and amend the path to mod=Rise of Mankind - A New Dawn. Save and launch from this icon.

another question..

when i play FFH2 is raccomanded to play standard map and size or can i change world specifications wihout any change to gameplay and balance..

obviously i play Erebus map

@S_O_G,
Bug fixes, no new features yet until New Official version. Only 45* has the answer to that time frame.

@JC,
I don't think Erebus map has been converted for AND2.0.

This mod reminds me of http://www.cracked.com/video_18218_if-starcraft-was-even-more-complicated.html.

Although, there are a lot of good ideas here. A "lite" version with far fewer options and only a streamlined subset of the most important new content would be cool, IMO. But, judging from the popularity of this mod, I might be the only one who feels this way.

the great thing about RoM/AND is many options can be toggled so you can have as much or as little as you want
