Have you tried clearing your cache before loading the mod?

I loaded BTS while keepin key down (supposed to clear the cache), I 've even deleted all Civ4 and CivBTS folders in my mydoc\mygames\ .... folder. I suppose that's enough, right?
restarted my PC as well
started a game on BTS directly (no mod)
nothing is working
What looks strange is that in the "error" message I see the path of the init.xml is that of RoM and not RoM AND, isn't that weird?

By the way is there log file i can show you ? I'd really like to solve the problem as I truly want to try this mod (played Realism Invectus svn for a couple of games and need some change ;-) )

No, it's not. First of all there's no need to delete mydoc\mygames\ etc, folder. The cache is stored in different folders depending on your OS. Under Win7 it's in \Users\YOUR USERNAME\AppData\Local\My Games\Beyond The Sword\cache

There's no need to restart your pc

Have you installed both ROM and AND? If so, try deleting ROM original folder; you only need "Rise of Mankind - A New Dawn" folder.

No, there's probably nothing to log, just a faulty installation.

Oh, OK, I just saw this and removed the cache. Isn't keeping Shift key down while loading Civ supposed to clear the cache though?

ROM was there for ages though :D
Any how I renamed it and now every thing is working :-)
Thank you all for your help

This mod is not working for me.
I used the 'download now' button and all I received after the hour download was a fatal error.
I tried the other download option via MEGA and the 2 times I've installed it the files are not placed in either correct location. This is extremely frustrating.

Probably an error in downloading, might happen and doesn't depend on the mod. Links are working from what I can see. As for folder positioning, after you download the game you get an installer and you need to select the correct location; I suggest install the game in C:\temp and then move "Rise of Mankind - A New Dawn" folder under your Mod folder inside BTS folder. Anyway it's not an installer or mod problem.

Depends on how long you press it and if you press it at the right time; I always prefer manually deleting the cache folder.

Glad it works!

This mod does not work for Windows 8 does it? Because I get an error which doesn't tell me anything useful. It just says it failed to initialise a GFC error, failed to initialise primary control theme. This doesn't tell me anything useful at all.

EDIT: Okay. I've done some messing around and made the modular stuff from 0 to 1 and now I'm not even getting an error. It does the same thing as before just without the error.

EDIT 2: Nevermind, I know what's wrong. RoM is 3.17 only and I have 3.19. Oh well.

EDIT 3: Tried it again, did some additional stuff. Error has returned, I give up completely.

What are you talking about? Beyond the Sword is 3.19 and "Rise of Mankind - A New Dawn" is made for BTS 3.19. If you're using the old mod "Rise of Mankind", then that's the problem.
Sorry, I'm still on Win7 so I don't know how it works under Win8, but it shouldn't cause any problem.

I downloaded A.N.D. & I noticed that the United Nations units from ROM werent on there. Is there some way to add them to AND? I tried to copy the "Buildings" and "Custom Units" folders from the ROM modules folder (in Assets) and put them in the AND modules folder (in Assets) but nothing happened. Im not sure what to do, can someone help with advice? Thanks

Also, is there a stand-alone mod for the guilds and additional corporations that are available in AND? If not, how difficult would it be to make one? Im not too bad with manipulating xml files but thats about the extent of my modding knowledge

Look up the member with username Vincentz, he did a series of Modmod for older versions RoM/And that had guilds and extra Corps. He has a whole series of modmods that he's made plus his on Main mod called the VIP mod, good mod and good modder too.

They were removed long ago because AI didn't know how to use them and human players also almost had no way to use them. I liked the idea at the time but there wasn't simply a good way to use them.

Can the SVN download post be clarified a teensy bit? Specifically that last part about exporting the SVN files:

Now how to get the working copy into play?:

:c5moves:1) Create an empty folder somewhere then..
:c5moves:2) Right click (hold) and drag the folder of your 'working copy' to this newly created folder and when you let go of the right mouse button you can..
:c5moves:3) Select the 'export versioned items here' option.
:c5moves:4) Once its finished exporting your up to date mod into where you wanted it - move the result ( Rise of Mankind - A New Dawn ) folder into civ4/beyond the sword/mods
Maybe something like:

4) Once finished exporting, open that folder, go down into /AND2-SVN/, and you'll see a "Rise of Mankind - A New Dawn" folder along with several other folders and files. Ignore everything else, move out that "Rise of Mankind - A New Dawn" folder into Civ4's BTS Mods.

I kinda had the impression exporting out extracted just the necessary files and not all the other SVN stuff. Otherwise it was a pretty painless process, good job!

It seems the 2.1 links are dead.
I cannot get the tortoise .msi file to install either.

Yes I am stupid. But I would still like to play this mod.

I'll have a look at the broken links, but I suggest you download the latest revision from AND SVN Build Thread, use the Full Installer. Many bugs have been solved and you'll enjoy new features, trust me. :)

Thank you for responding . I have received a 899mb download from somewhere but it is only an .exe so I put into a new folder inside the BTS mods folder and it runs but it has no interface. I believe it needs an Assets folder to provide the xmls for the interface.

As far as svn goes I have no luck trying to get the tortoise installation mci to run on my w7 64 machine.
