Main Download Information

Thank you for responding . I have received a 899mb download from somewhere but it is only an .exe so I put into a new folder inside the BTS mods folder and it runs but it has no interface. I believe it needs an Assets folder to provide the xmls for the interface.

As far as svn goes I have no luck trying to get the tortoise installation mci to run on my w7 64 machine.

Download from here: http://www.atmoburn.com/upload/RoM-AnD_repo.exe

It's about 900MB, I suggest you wait a few hours because the revision I've just released will be updated in a few hours
You get an exe file; run it and it will ask you where you want to extract those files (you will also get a question about the interface color you want to use and a couple other options); after extraction is complete, you'll see a "Rise of Mankind - A New Dawn" folder inside the extraction folder you've selected. Cut and paste this folder inside \BTS\Mods folder. Voilà, nothing else is needed. Just start BTS and load the mod.

Edit: and if you have any previous version of Rise of Mankind / A New Dawn, delete them. Also delete Civilization.ini and Civilization.ini.bak (or better move them away to another folder), they will be recreated when you start your next game anyway.

So now I am very excited to see the updated version. I will wait until the morning to be sure to get the right one (labeled V2.2) is that correct?

EDIT; Downloaded and installed per your instructions above. as title page comes up, a couple of xml error popups appear ("info class was incorrect"). Clear them and I can select all the great options, hit play and CTD instantly.

EDIT; I was looking at the svn thread and it looks like the errors in my download today were fixed in rev 684. I wonder if the missing files would be available somewhere besides svn?

Seems like it would be cool if there was an installer that just automated fetching files from the SVN for the user. I bet that would not be that hard to do to...not sure though. An interesting idea at least. ;)

I was trying to do a launcher with that functionnality as a project to learn C++ but i'm learning so slowly that i'm unsure i'll finish it.
With TortoiseSVN installed, it's quite easy to do from an exe, but with an integrated exe, i have no clue.

A very cool idea but it's beyond my ability... Feel like getting your hands at it if you have time Afforess? :)

Hello young wizard.

OT: Not sure you'll ever see this but...Do you still work on Spoutcraft?

Wish you well in your current endeavors.

I don't know. I don't want to get involved in anything quite yet. I just want to play some Civ4 + RAND 2 and make observations right now. ;)

What does it feel like "playing with your grand-son"? :)

Good. I made an effort to promote open/easy access to code & changes so that others could continue the work. A successful project is one that can continue on even after the founder leaves.

Downloading. Is this mod stable?

I think it's quite stable without the Megapack add-on. My current feeling is that my most recent additions, in addition to the Megapack, are starting to push the limits, but I haven't seen anything worse than errors on exiting the game.

You have to check if the mod is in My documents\My Games\Beyond the sword\Mods. If there is a folder Rise of Mankind - A New Dawn, then it is installed.

Next go, back to My documents\My Games\Beyond the sword\ and open up CivilizationIV.ini.
Look for the line Mod = 0 and replace it by Mod = Mods\Rise of Mankind - A New Dawn.

The mod will start automatically by now !

If you install into "Firaxis Games/Civilization 4/Beyond the Sword/Mods" after loading the game, you need click Advanced, Load Mod. In the load mod screen you should see Rise of Mankind - A New Dawn. Clicking on that should load the mod.

You can also set up a shortcut which will automatically load the mod by copying the Civ4 and adding mod=\Rise of Mankind - A New Dawn to the end of Target.

Hi there, I need some help with getting the mod to run.

Downloaded AND 2 Full Installer and installed it correctly. But when I go to Advanced > Load a Mod and try to load the mod, it hangs on the desktop for a minute and then crashes. I've tried moving the mod to the mod folder in My Games, edited the .ini, even tried launching it directly by editing the shortcut's target line but it still happens.

Any idea how I can fix this? (Playing on XP if it means anything)

It "Looks" like it's crashing but it's not. Give it more time to load. 1.62GB Mod takes a bit to initialize the 1st Load. You got impatient I think. Put everything back as you had it originally and try again. This time wait before you act.

Now If you got Error msgs Then you need to post what the msg(s) said.

That's the only error message I get when it crashes.

The error message look like you didn't have patched the game to 3.19. Please download and apply this Patch 3.19 and try to relaunch the game.

The mod has a new installer (but it does not patch your game) : LINK. It is still a beta release but it could be used to manage the mod.
