Middle of nowhere as in Mecca doesn't have a "downtown" for a structure that big to fit in. It's just this lonely monolithic block.

Anyway @ Leoreth, I hear this criticism all the time, i think it's penetrated popular culture now - all tall buildings are a expression of phallic compensation or phallic approval, or anything phallic sufixxed. Now I ask yer, if you want to build a large building with lots of floor space in a small area in a city; where are you going to put all that space?! Underground construction is too expensive and who wants to spend all day working half a mile under the Earth?
So yeah got that off my chest - it's pragmatic reasons behind these tall objects not phallic pride

As far as I know one is still free to be a Catholic in these US. I learned about as many Catholic Pioneers as I did about Protestant ones in grade school. Growing up along the Mexican border though, I always wondered why we had it better than Mexicans did. That was by visiting the place, not learning about it in school.

This reminded me of an article I read a couple years ago written by a fertility doctor working in Saudi Arabia. Apparently Arab men, or at least the elites among them, have some of the lowest sperm counts on the planet. The article argued that generations of polygamy are to blame. Arab princes may tend to father several dozen children by their wives, but it seems that in the same circumstances the average American male could produce ten times as many.
One war of independence was started by aristocrats, the other by an unfaithful priest and filthy peasants, this difference flavoured the result.
