Marians: Sons of Mars

That would be your partners in marriage, the Aztecs. Who, while being eager to trade for these distant colonies, will most certainly not part with them for free.

I put 55 in Civ 6, and 2 in Civ 7, leaving 10 gold in my vault. Claims in a moment.

same with us. invest all gold into civics. oh and if we can, claim Greenland.

The Iberian Emperador is proud to announce that a New World has been discovered. Explorerers arrived on the shores of a land called "Canada." Initially the land was believed to be a minor power - and thus explorers planned to... uhh... "claim" it in the name of Iberia - but it turns out Canada is a vast empire stretching to another ocean, based on what the natives told the explorers.

It was discovered by Genovese explorers who now serve Madrid due to treaty obligations made by Lombardia.

(Due to my claiming of the Azores, I have the glory of being the first European nation to be in contact with the New World! :goodjob: Of course, Albion now knows of them too due to the spread of Canada to Greenland)

While precious little of Canada has been mapped by cartographers, good relations will hopefully ensue from this contact. The natives have told us of other nations, and the Iberian government is now hungry for information on these new states.

May the Columbian exchange begin!

the Emperor of Canada decided to let that breach of Canadian sovereignty pass. after all its a common mistake to make.

we can offer the complete map of Canada (Military installations are censored out) for.. oh... ten gold?

Iberia is charmed, but will take its chances with sailing up and down the coasts. Besides, our Diplo isn't high enough to meet anyone else just yet...

Germany

43 income.

34 is used to finish Infra 4.

With the remaining gold, 1 army is purchased.

Germany claims 5 territories.

Japan

33 income. 29 to finish current research.

Japan claims 2 provinces, expanding its Indochinese Empire.

Na-Na-Nine

46 income. 24 towards Infra. 33 finishes off the next Infra. Na-Na-Nine claims 5 provinces.

Austria

46 income earned. 28 put towards Army 3. Using the treasury, 39 gold is used to purchase Diplo 4.

Austria claims 4 territories.

Zululand

47 income. 29 into Army 3. Zululand builds 2 armies. 5 provinces are claimed, and as a result, Zululand now meets the famed Nubians. Zululand sets out to build a stronger army than they! 2 more armies recruited.

India

standard caravels aren't designed for that. too small and not enough resources. Halifax is open if you want to restock it. we have the best beef anywhere :)

Do we hear our first agreement with eachother? That is, a Military Access treaty?

Darn! That makes 8 of 15 major powers managed by me... I've heard of ruling the world by proxy, but this is ridiculous!

Anybody know anyone who'd willing to take over a country?

Also, any recommended simplifications? I could always cut down on sliders...

But that defeats one of the points of the game: rule by proxy.

good point. get rid of the cannot contact others by diplomacy bit. it will very soon be obsolete anyway.

(BTW, what diplomatic level do i need to contact Iberia?)

I dunno about that, that ruins some of the benefits of diplo tech. I think an area that should be cut is probably the policy sliders.

Since we can reach you, our diplo takes precedence, so you can contact us already.

oh. well good.

Canadian news

Since the relatively peaceful nation of Iberia has contacted us using a caravel, we feel that we should return the favor. a Caravel has being Dispatched to Lisbon with the Emperor, two body guards and some crewmen.

plus, we wanted to see Iberia anyway.

Mighty Albion claims the rest of the Icelandic Nation.

We hire two armies to raise our total to two.

Dump the rest into Military I

Ehh. Idk. They provide the flavor for your nation. I think the problem is that the rules just look complicated, even though they arnt that bad. And as you mentioned, the game isnt targeted at the "big as I can, fast as I can" style most forum games are. You might need to put a disclaimer in the start page.

Iiii will try to rustle some people up. Care to post a list of available nations, and active players?

Oh one last thing. Could you color each NPC a slightly different shade of blue? Would help with the confusion. Particuarly which lands are owned my my vassal and which arnt :mischief:.

Example(I just did the America's):
