Mario Kart vs. Gran Turismo

Come on guys, you always tell me that you can't compare games in different genres; Mario Kart and Gran Turismo are both in the same genre, so why is comparing them impossible?

Basically, this is a question on whether you like silliness or realism more.

Both are at the extreme of each though. I have no idea which I like better personally, because I like them both for entirely different reasons. Now if it was between say Midnight Club 3 and Gran Turismo 4, I could decide easier (although I would have a tough time on that one personally.) because I could weigh how I feel about similar aspects in the game.

With Mario Kart, you have weapons. In Gran Turismo you don't. Gran turismo requires more skill at maneuvering. Mario Kart requires skill with getting in that "groove" of speeding down the track and being ready to attack anything in front of you. These are probably the 'best' two racing games in their field. The problem with this poll is you are asking if people like playing in this field more or that. What you will find is most people will enjoy playing in different fields of the genre equally as fun.

Who told you that? That's complete rubbish. All your question asks is which one of the two you like more, not which one is better, and that's a perfectly valid question even if two games are in two different genres.

For example: I like Ratchet and Clank better than Alpha Centauri. This is because I think the former is more fun than the latter. The fact that they're in different genres has nothing to do with it.

However, I've never played Mario Kart or Gran Turismo.
