Mass Regicide for Four

Turn 45 (1950 BC).

It's jshelr's move. :)

I have sent Killer A's an e-mail concerning the recently released patch v1.20f. We will probably start using it in turn 46. :)

C3C Patch v1.20 is a finalized patch, so no, it isn't a beta patch. You can read the patch notes here.

Download it, but install after we get confirmation from Killer A's.

CIVILIZATION III: CONQUESTS V1.20 DOES NOT SUPPORT SAVE GAMES FROM PRE-V1.20 VERSIONS.

cut and pasted from conquests thread at poly

Perhaps we should create a dual installation and play our game out at 1.15 patch level while starting any new games with the 1.20 patch.

No need. :)

Cut and pasted from the Fixes list:
* PBEM: v1.20 Games can not be loaded on earlier versions. Earlier saves can STILL be loaded in v1.20
We'll be able to enjoy both single-player C3C and our MRf4 with patch v1.20.

I hope you are right, and the fixes list says you are, but their seems to be some question about whether this is right or not at poly. MarkG was the source of the capital lettered denial that the fix you mention works.

Hyperlink, please. I don't even know whether 'poly' is on the CivFanatics' forums.

EDIT: I e-mailed Killer A's again, telling him to hold on patching until we can settle this discussion.

I have the turn. I'm not going to play it until we decide what to do. I could install the patch and see if I can load the game. If it works then everybody else could load the patch because my save would be v1.20. But if it failed I'll have to reinstall Conquests and patches up to v1.15. I'll see about trying it this weekend.

I'd like to investigate what MarkG of 'poly' has to say about v1.20. If it seems credible, we should not install the patch. If it sounds like a newbie's rant, then we should definitely install it.

I'm not sure that trying out v1.20 for a single move would be a decent test. However, if all else fails, we can try that.

The patch works just fine. Apparently Firaxis misworded what they said about the patch. What they meant to say was pre-1.20 computers (as in that computer doesn't have the current patch) will no longer load 1.20 saves. It's the same way it's always been done. I've got the patch and played with it.

I'll load the patch tonight and continue the game.

Firaxis uploaded an emergency patch today. They call it v1.22, and it will resolve many multiplayer issues. You must install it after installing v1.20.

Error Reading file!! This isn't good. I may have to uninstall the patches and live without them. Or do we start over? What's the consensus?

Wouldn't load my solo games either.

A few minutes ago, I installed both v1.20 and v1.22, restarted my computer, booted C3C, and attempted to load our MRf4. I received the same error message, Killer A's. :( Like you said, this isn't good.

I vote for putting this PBEM on hold until Firaxis can resolve its patching issues. When they release a final patch that actually works for our MRf4, we should continue.

(BTW, in case you guys vote otherwise, I kept a copy of patch 1.15 Beta on my hard drive.)

I didn't keep a copy. The patches have always worked. My friend d/l the 1.20 patch and had no troubles. I d/l the 1.20 patch and have had no troubles. I can play the PBEMs that are sent to me, and I can also play my single player games. I don't know why it won't work for you guys.

Really? Let me try uninstalling C3C Conquests, and reinstalling it with patch 1.20. Be back in a few minutes...

(You didn't seem to notice that Firaxis released an update called "v1.22" today. Check the CivFanatics' homepage.)

Here's what I did:

I uninstalled patches v1.22, v1.20, and v1.15. I uninstalled C3C. I restarted my computer. I re-installed C3C, then installed only patch 1.20. Restarted my computer again. Finally, I booted C3C, and loaded my last game file from MRf4.

This time, the loading was successful. :) However, I noticed that a new bug has crept into the game.

It's true that now you don't see the last player's map when you're asked to input your password, yet when a pop-up like a report asking for new production appears, you still can't see your own map, even after you zoom to your city. :( But when you close all the pop-ups, your map will be drawn as it should be.

I expect that this bug is inherited by PBEM and Hotseat games. It's an inconvenience, but the game is still playable.

What do you guys think we should do now?
