Game Turn Simulation

Lets pretend we are having our turns now then we will see how the day progresses and organize when to take turns based on how we take them in this virtual run. I would usually have my turn around now...

Yea wolfy, maybe watch one of the other lets players... My play style is a little too different from yours. But hey, you've got 5 other players to chose from and root for. I was quite worried to see that you won't be playing because if you were playing you probably wouldn't be so eager to help me beat you...

Hm, don't be so sure. I would still probably want to give advice, regardless, haha. Though, I wouldn't even know what you were doing because that would be cheating.

And also, I'd just like you to know that it truly isn't simply a "difference of playstyles". The fact is that well...you make alot of objective mistakes. Ones that can be corrected. But, that's just because you're inexperienced at civ. Just, it's not as subjective as "a difference in playstyles".

T'was only a joke, anyhow.

Anyways, sorry for interrupting. Let's continue with the simulation.
 
Dang, I've just broken... I was trying to avoid having a meltdown but it just happened. Btw nothing to do with what you just said wolfy... It's just in general this position of setting up this game has driven me nuts.

You guys try the turn simulation thing, someone compile the turn order list, hydro maybe? Oh and koshing can you set up the svn? Sorry but I'm so over setting this up. I just need to start playing this game now because I can't get the the last two things sorted out... Turn order and setting up the svn. Once that's done message me, I'll make the file, take my turn, upload it and we can start the game. Then I'll keep updating that new thread but for now, I don't wanna set up anything more.

Ok, consider my turn taken. I'll set up the SVN later today - will need to get everyone's sourceforge login name to add them as contributors or else they won't be able to save back to it. Please PM me with your sourceforge name (modders who already have writ access to the main C2C SVN need not bother - I know yours already). Everyon else, who only has read access to the C2C SVN will need to create an account on sourceforge (free - it just gives you a username/password there rather than an anonymous login) and let me know...
 
Thanks for that koshling, I just have no idea how to set up an svn... I guess that means I have to make a source forge account now though doesn't it?

Btw it's interesting to see how playing c2c just then fixed me up. I was just about to quit my job (full time childcare worker, 42.5 hours per week) then recorded episode 19 of my single player c2c lets play (won't be uploaded for a while though) and then boom! No longer want to quit my job, no longer feel depressed, feel like I've got stuff to look forward to.

I guess this means I should try and play for an hour a day (make episodes) otherwise I get pritty bored. It's really hard to organize this massive human vs humans game and is taking a long time but it will be worth it once I start filling up that thread with links to everyone's lets plays and get involved with a slow but engading c2c game vs actual intelligent human players...

Btw does the mastery achievement add a turn limit to our game? I really am against turn limits...

Also for those having your virtual turns don't forget to have them at the time you really would have a turn. That way we can get the optimum turn order sorted out. The worst case scenario turn order would take us 11 days per turn. In other words 3 lets play episodes for each of us per year, 30 turns per year is hopeless so we need to get this right! If you accidently missed saying when you would have your turn just say "5 hours ago" or something like that based on when you would have had your turn today and everyday.

Btw don't worry, this method of getting turn order is working well, I'm adding the turn order to the first post of page 8 of this thread. 3 down, 8 to go...

I can generally take my turn around 1pm-9pm, UTC -5 (N.A Eastern Time) [Depends on the day and my classes]

Isn't there an option of simultaneous turns? Or is that only possible with an actual multiplayer game?

replace koshling in the above with your sourceforge username and attach it to a working folder on your computer with Tortoise like you did for C2C.

It contains two folders (both currently empty):

Gamefiles - this will have the save itself in, and probably an order of play txt file, where the current person to play will have an * by their name. Procedure will be - load the save game, play turn, save back to the savegame file, edit the turn order text to move the * to the next person's name, and push the two file changes to SVN for the next person.

Assets - my intention is to keep the official version of the game we're using (will be V27 initially) as a copy in the 'Assets' folder so that when we upgrade we can all be certain we are using the same thing.

Oh BTW, as padams mentioned earlier, we'll need to agree the name of the mod folder we put this version in to play, since you won't be able to load a save that has the wrong name relative to your local mod folder naming (and we will need to keep the default 'Caveman 2 Cosmos' for the ongoing SVN version of the mod).

I've added it to the first post of this thread but I don't believe it fits in the tracker thread... That is after all to track our lets plays and our game.

I hadn't planned on including anything but the assets folder, but sure, I can included the lot so you get the correct mod folder name and the correct BUG options too if you like. Obviously I can't set that up until V27 is released though, since that's what we'll be starting with (presumably the day after).

But... Is this time, right at the time you posted the time that you would usually take your turn? Because that's what it's for and since Joseph posted his virtual turn before you he will have his turn before you ;)
