Massive Humans vs Humans Game/Lets Player Tracker

Introduction:
Welcome to the tracker thread for the massive humans vs humans c2c game. 11 Human players will be competing against each other for world domination. The players consist of c2c developers, lets players and c2c fans. The game will be logged from different perspectives by 6 of the 11 players. AstralPhaser is doing a video let's play with commentary while the other lets players will use screenshots and text to produce great story-like let's plays. You can use this thread to track this game and watch/read it from the perspective/player you want or multiple ones.

The Let's Players Advantage:
If there is only one lets player remaining vs multiple non-lets players the lets player will get the "Lets Players Advantage". No other player will be allowed to take over their capital city. The lets players advantage will be disabled when only two players total are left in the game.

Will this game only have human players?
Initially this game will begin with 11 human controlled civilizations (randomly chosen) and no AI players apart from barbarians. Later on in the game however, AI players may emerge from barbarian cities or due to rebellion break off from other civs creating new AI controlled civs. Lastly some human players may resign from the game so AI players will take their place unless other human players would like to start playing in the place of others. A list below the current players list show those who would like to join if other players drop out.

How were the game settings/players chosen?
I created a setup thread allowing all the players to vote on settings or request to join this game. Players chose to vote for and against options they liked or disliked. The main options with the most votes were used for this game. The minor options and bug settings with votes totaling above 0 were used while votes below 0 were not used. For the few settings that has their votes tied I had the final chose and decided to either activate or deactivate them for this game. You can check out the voting thread here: http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=478942

How are 11 people going to be able to play at once?
Well actually the 11 human players will not be logged into the game all at once. Instead each player will be taking one turn per day then upload the save file to our special svn which stores our game. This means that at best we will only be able to have 1 turn per day leading to everyone submitting their lets plays about once every two weeks. Each episode will consist of 10 turns and will be synchronized with everyone's episodes. That means that if two civs meet in episode 4 of one lets play, the corresponding lets play will also have the two civs meeting in episode 4.

How should I watch/read the lets plays?
Below this first post is the Let's Play Episode Tracker. It provides links to view each episode through the perspective of as many of the let's players as you desire. Simply choose an episode, choose a lets player then get reading/watching. To access this list either scroll down or click this link: http://forums.civfanatics.com/showpost.php?p=11949205&postcount=2

Why has turn X been taken but episode X isn't up yet?
The lets plays will be recorded/written in sync with each-other so one persons episode 3 covers the same turns as another persons episode 3. Each episode will consist of 10 turns. To prevent players cheating episodes will have an upload delay causing them to always be an episode behind the actual turns being taken. In other words episode 1 (turns 1-10) won't be uploaded until episode 2 has been created yet not uploaded. So at the beginning of turn 21 every lets player will upload episode 1 (turns 1-10) and at the beginning of turn 31 players will upload episode 2 (turns 11-20).

Ok, heres an unedited video of the setup of this game and turn 1 just so you know the final options (bug options were not shown but will be shown on turn 2 which will still be in episode 1) and how to change your civ name to your forum name.

http://youtu.be/-T6fQIlwR7Q

Now its important that none of you upload an episode of your lets play yet! That video was not the first episode of my lets play... It was raw footage of the first turn of my lets play. And I know... I forgot to chose a tech to research (silly me but I was in a rush) so I will do that on turn 2. But no, this is not how you should be posting your lets plays so here is a final tutorial on the official way to post your lets plays.

1 episode = Ten turns across all lets plays to keep them in sync (which is my that video above was not the first episode of my lets play).

1 lets play thread per lets player. 1 post per episode in that lets play thread. Don't post your actual lets plays here... you can post links to them though so I can add them to the episode tracking area (post 2 of this thread).

Post your lets plays with a 10 turn delay like so:

Immediately after turn 20 - post episode 1 (turns 1-10)
Immediately after turn 30 - post episode 2 (turns 11-20)
Immediately after turn 40 - post episode 3 (turns 21-30)
Immediately after turn 50 - post episode 4 (turns 31-40)
Immediately after turn 60 - post episode 5 (turns 41-50)

DON'T FORGET TO START GETTING SCREENSHOTS OR WHATEVER YOU NEED ON YOUR FIRST TURN (AND OTHER ONES) BUT REMEMBER NOT POST THEM OR CREATE YOUR INDIVIDUAL LETS PLAY THREAD UNTIL TURN 20 WHEN YOU POST EPISODE 1 (TURNS 1-10)

If this is not clear please leave a reply!

Also, the game has started (for those who didn't know) so keep checking the svn to see if its your turn... Don't open the save file unless its your turn! Koshling is next...

I will keep track of this thread. So I would be happy to takeover a civ. If one of you losses interest

Turn taken. Joseph is next...

IMPORTANT - the save file the game generates is named with a suffix 'to_<nextplayername>' which will screw us up with SVN usage (we'll end up with 10 files and multiply the download times by 10). SO -

SLIGHT CHANGE OF PROCEDURE:

After you take your turn and the game generates the save file (with the suffix), RENAME it to 'C2C_Humans_Vs_Humans_BC-50000.CivBeyondSwordSave' (no suffix) so we always have the same single file on SVN. The turn logger anyway says who it is aimed at.

Over to you Joseph...

PS - I'm filling in civ names in the turn logger file in brackets as we find out who everyone is. After you take your first turn update your line with your civ name

Edit - first turn blog post written, but I won't be publishing 'til turn 20 when I'll publish the first 10 turn's worth.

Alright I can see revision 8 but can't seem to get it to Export. Do I need to instead use Save Revision to?

This is all new to me. I only usually Update and then Export the whole thing.

Some instructions and guidance please.

JosEPh

Edit: and TortiosePlink is driving me nuts. Everything I try to do has to have my password and not just once but 3 times everytime. :p

Edit2: Have save file and log. Loaded Save file into Multiplayer Save file. C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\My Documents\My Games\Beyond the Sword\Saves\multi . Now do I start by selecting Multiplayer from the BtS Main screen or just select load game?

Pretty sure you need to use the 'SVN commit' option.
Once everything is in working order I presume.

Granted, I may be completely wrong, but it worked when using my map SVN.

Create a sourceforge account and let me know your username so I can add you. I suggest you also get the SVN downloaded so you're good to go as soon as necessary.

Just do an 'Update' to get the latest then load the savegame that you get as a result.

When your done, rename the save the game gives you (as above) and copy it back (over-copying the one that is in your working folder), edit the turn file and do an SVN commit to push the changes back.

Game loaded moved units, set research, Now Do I hit End of turn then Save? Or Save and then hit EoT?

End turn. The game will save for you and produce a popup telling you it has.

"meganix1" is my account name

Okay didn't find a Commit but did find Import. So I used that and uploaded, shows Rev 9 now.
As per instructions:
Renamed savegame to C2C_Humans_Vs_Humans_BC-50000.CivBeyondSwordSave Removed _"next player name" at end. Updated Log file too.

Il Principe up next, if I did it right.

JosEPh

Yes.

The log shows that the save game for rev 9 (Joseph) was uploaded to the wrong place (the root instead of inside the 'Save+TurnList' folder. So my guess is that Il Principe has used the save game from the right place, which was still the rev 8 one, so you're both playing the same civ at a guess and Joseph's save wound up in the wrong place.

@Joseph - if you have no commit option you've done something wrong. Where did you copy the save game the game produced at the end of your turn to? Looks like you didn't put it in the right folder??
