Turn Done T-Brd up!
I have an Eagle and way too much damaging terrain! :p

JosEPh

I better go get me a Pigeon. This sounds like an arms race! :p

There's a Platypus somewhere around my city that I'm setting my sights on, and then a Flamingo to hunt down after that.

EDIT: Well, the Platypus isn't exactly a bird, but it's definitely hunting time for me!

When we updated to v28 did you have any issues like this, was this when the recalcs started?

Or did you update to v28 at all when Koshling put out the notice to do so?

JosEPh (61 yrs :old: today :p )

Yes I did update correctly to v28, the problem has been ever since turn 2.

Btw I'm getting a little sick of the process to update everything. I have to come on the forum, download and run the file, readjust microphone volume (computer automatically sets it really low), open fraps, open the save folder location and update the svn version, take and record my turn (updating the recalls or whatever each time) name and place the small video file into the lets play folder, copy and paste the save file into the svn, delete the old version, rename the new version and finally post it to the svn...

Is there any way I can shorten this process? What about having civ 4 save to the svn folder and rename it and replace the old file for me. Would that work at least?

And I thought I was cranky!? Do you get bored easily? :mischief: Copy and pasting can Be So tiring, I know!

C'mon man! :p

Wouldn't it be easier to post all the saves on the forum thread, so we don't need to hazzle with the svn?

I'd rather stay with the SVN. Yes, it can be a minor bit of effort each time (I go through a couple more steps than you do, but that's my fault as I decided to), but it's really easy to look up old versions (should they be needed), and it's fairly easy (for most of us) to access and save to. Putting all of the saves here in the forum we'd quickly each hit our upload limits, and eventually the save files would become too large to put on without compression. Eventually they'd probably become too large even with compression. I would say that, to save steps, you could possibly get the Email address of the next person and just send it directly to them, but then you'd have to open the Email program, begin a new message, attach the file, and hit send, so it really wouldn't be any savings of actions over using the SVN and might even be worse.

Actually, I can see one step you can take to shorten the whole process slightly. Rename the new save file before you move it, right-click on the file, click move to folder, select the folder, and a pop-up will happen where you can over-write the old file so you don't have to manually delete it. Otherwise everything you are doing is the same as what everyone* else is doing (I'm guessing). *Well, some aren't doing LP's of the game, but many of us are and we take many screenshots, so probably about the same number of steps.

Yeah, I rename it before moving it and then just select to rewrite... and trust me... committing the change to the svn is much faster than posting the save on here!!! So the SVN is much much much more convenient if you're lucky enough to only have to take that step.

Also, I do not move the save from the SVN ever... just double click the save from the repository folder. It's only taking it from where it saved the game, renaming it there, and dropping it into the repository folder to overwrite the old one then commit changes after the turn is taken.

I do feel that it may not be necessary to keep the turn order thing rotating around. The post on the forum accomplishes that need.

And if I was trying to record the playing of the game, it'd probably get annoying to me too. I do take screen shots of this one and was planning to do a very late game let's play - I just don't want to be revealing what the other players should not be able to know yet. Call it a test of the value of information.

Winter storm Q will soon be knocking on my door. This afternoon should be very interesting.

That being said, because I have a wireless local ISP I could be out of service later today and early tomorrow. So If it gets to be my turn and I'm not responding....Winter Storm Q.

Antibiotics starting to kick in on my bout of diverticulitis and the changing air pressure is giving me quite the headache even with a big dose of Excedrin. :p So glad I retired and do Not have to go work in this coming storm, like in the past.

You are from America? Since you are talking about a storm.. hot water and cool air doesn't mix up so good
