Yes this game crashes for me now, trying to load what whisper uploaded

  • Some Debugs, including a fix for the great wall wonder that crashes all civ turns after its built.
  • Whisperr's maingame turn taken. (Koshling is up)
  • Thunderbrd and Whisperr's US game turns taken. (Hydro is up)

You must now update your file sets before continuing. Please repeat that for the next player after you post your turn has been taken.

@Koshling: The fileset I had reverted to was incorrect. My bad. But it helped me realize that my test on the great wall flaw hunch had been flawed so that led to the fix in the other game. It doesn't CORRECT the great wall graphic, just removes the graphic itself so the wonder can safely be built and have all the same effects. Pretty sure I'm not the only one who doesn't care much about the graphic among those among us here. Of course, being the guy that worked on the great wall interactions with viewports and such, you may understand why there was a crash and have a clue what could be done about it. I personally didn't care enough to hold things up for that degree of repair (and its beyond me anyhow.)

I updated as requested but it still crashes before it even asks me for my password.

Can other people try loading it please and see if it crashes for them.

I just tried both games after updating and then Cutting the old C2C MP out and replacing it with the New. In both instances it CTDs to Desktop during the Initializing phase prior to game launch.

So Koshling's results are confirmed.

Question, is this a possible cause, the changing of 6 of the Empires to New Empires? Why not all 7? Or why change any?

Not understanding the question.

Ok, so crash confirmed on this side as well. What is happening now is uncertain at the moment. Our turns went fine. Confirming the crash means you're certain to be using the same file set.

I'll be looking into this as quickly as possible.

Take a look at the Files you Committed to the C2C MP SVN.

You have 6 New Empires that do Not match Our current Empires. Who is Sweden? Scotland? S. Africa, Nubian, Hungary and Bohemia?

Example, Like this one: C2C MP/Assets/Modules/Custom_Civilizations/Bohemia/Bohemia_CIV4CivilizationsInfos.xml

Or this one: C2C MP/Assets/Modules/Custom_Civilizations/Scotland/Scotland_CIV4CivilizationsInfos.xml

There are 6 of these. Understand now?

EDIT:
I'm China and have only met Hydro's Hydrons (leader Cuzco?). So I have No Clue who the other 7 Empires in this game are by Name or Culture. And even Hydro's Hydrons I'm not sure of his nationality (Aztec, Mayan? etc.). And If we have 9 players total why only 6 Empires listed then? It looks like a mistake to me so that's why I posted about it. Lookin' for clues anywhere I can.

Those are simply repairs to ones that I believe should have already existed in there. However, there could be an issue with that I suppose.

I kinda doubt that's the 'issue' but there are still a number of possibilities - too many to enumerate here yet.

Ok, I'm pretty sure I know what happened. I must have accidentally committed some of the theoretical work I had been doing to crack a player's turn a while back (which never worked and led only to the kinds of error messages running the debugger that these games are showing.) I must have played my turn then handed it over to Whisperr, changing the dll between with a new compile. It works for the first player to load it but not for the second. I wasn't catching that the bad coding was there because I was reverting all source files before compiling with just the slight adjustment to the great wall processing.

So until it went to the next player AFTER Whisperr, it wasn't crashing yet and being a little in a hurry I committed without catching the issue.

The fix, along with both saves where they should be, is being recommitted right now. Unfortunately, to eliminate the corrupted source files and anything else that might be, I've deleted and re-added the entire mod folder in this SVN so the commit is taking forever and the update for y'all will do the same - then the actual playing mod fileset must be completely updated with this clean one.

So I'm leaving my system to finish the commit, which will yet take a while. By morning it SHOULD be good to go to proceed. I hope to see positive confirmation of that when I get up.

EDIT: Correction, it did not go through on the first attempt so I simplified what needed to be replaced and it should go through much faster, both for me and for you.

EDIT: We should be good to go now.

Just re did my file set with the New and was able to load koshling's turn up to his Password.

So far it looks good T-brd. Thank you!

@koshling,

It's your turn koshling here in the Massive game.

And it's Hydro's turn in the other one.

No going "back" to anyone.

If you Replaced your C2C MP Mod file set (last 2 days) then do it again for the Mod After you Update the SVN 1st. Then take your turn. Should be good to go.

Joseph is again correct here.

Koshling's go. Update the mod folder first.

So all of us should update the mod folder, which we already can by downloading the current svn version and just replacing the C2C MP mod folder we have in the Mods directory instead of waiting for our own turns to do so right? If so I'll update prior to my turn to see if I can do it asap as the conflict in my region is becoming quite interesting and I'm eager to let it roll more.

Yes you can do that now and it will certainly speed up your ability to take your turn when it comes if you do it early.

I've seen my turn now but I don't have the time to do it. I'll sleep now and tomorrow when I wake up I'll do it.

Thanks for making this more interesting Vokarya, I did want to test if you'd try to do what you did, or if you'd let me keep my position. Now I know better about my rival ;)
