Math07: 50K or bust

OCC games can have extremely fast research. You don't need more cities to hit the 4-turn research. OCC gets you there too, very easily.
In the middle and early industrial it does. But I don't see how more than one city would hurt, plus we may not get that lucky with grabbing wonders for tourist attractions.

OCC also completely eliminates warmongering (except OCCC) which is great fun.

Tempted, but my roster is rather full. Will join if you can´t fill the roster other wise. I suggest using a commercial and scientific civ, don´t know by hart which one that is. Scientific to increase SGL probability, commercial for uhm, commerce ;) . Emperor would leave very little room for error I think, but monarch seems a bit easy.

lurker's comment: well, you can warmonger by making units in all your cities EXCEPT the 50k city.

What is the religeous trait good for, except for short anarchy. Just a chaep temple and cathedral, Scientific will give half price libs and uni's which are mor expensiv but most importntly you expect to get an extra SGL during the game.

I'm for Greece.

My OCC comment was a joke. I only mentioned it because Own said the 50K city should be outside of the capital. I disagree, except I might choose a coastal core city over a non-coastal capital. Ultimately, it comes down fast early growth and high production capacity at size 12.

As for our civ, I prefer non-religious. An early temple just doesn't make that much difference. My first choice would be Korea. Colossus + Mausoleum = Golden Age in Republic. Sumeria and Ottomans are also good choices. I don't like Greece. Hoplites are nice, but I'd rather avoid a premature GA.

Difficulty level will be emperor. Landmass either continents or pangaea with 60% or 70% water. Default climate options. I'd still like to disable Conquest and Domination. They are irrelevant for most of the game, but as I said earlier, having them off will allow us to speed up the end-game.

Need to confirm sign-ups:
Own
Methos
DaveShack
nerovats

I'll get us started tomorrow.

The commerce bonus of commercial comes only after your city reaches pop 13 ... The reduction of corruption is nothing for OCC.

Mathias, why not adding the first replier of this thread into roster? :D

lurker's comment: Likewise nerovats, I'd be very interested if I didn't have the habit of getting very interested in every single game around as it's out and missing other very interesting games ;)

I'd be an advocate of persia and ottomans for the fast workers and cheap libs/univs. At any rate go sci. Of course you'll need to do quite a bit of warmongering - every MGL puts a great boost up, not counting the MGL-rushed SW's. Good luck, will lurk

lurker's comment: id say go persia because sci is always nice, and really, the 2xWorkers is like a raise on your salary.

Sorry, Heroes, I didn't realize you intended a sign-up.

So then, we have:
Heroes
Own
Methos
DaveShack (?)
and, of course, myself.

I prefer 5-player SG, so that will be the full roster.
