Mayor problems for team Roadkill

If we have 2 GP's ready shouldn't we focus on York and London? I am sick right now and don't have the energy to play right now. If somebody wants to take the turnset, go right ahead.

Canterbury is another shrine city. Locking up two shrine cities would go a long way to solving our economy.

Ok I since KIllRoyan is sick we will change the play order

Cree (up)
Lkendter (on deck)
Pholkhereo (just played)
Killroyan -resting

I will focus on building units in all other cities, wonders or national epic in Instanbul.

I will try and make friends with the AI as much as possible including saying yes to demands.

I dont see any tech trades to do at the moment.

I will keep ESP on Darius.

I will play until Vicky builds AP. We can then have a discussion about declaring war right then or waiting til vick pops a GP to settle in London hopefully.

Any suggestions or things I'm not thinkig of?

Oh yeah tech....what do we want to Target after Music?

I'll play in a couple hours.

After 4 days I am finally getting back to good health, so I will be able to play again on wednesday if necessary.

I guess for our next tech we are going to need some military techs like engineering/machinery/metal casting (or whatever order :p). The notre dame is nice on this map especially with the lack of happies and the stone bonus for it. But mostly because we are going to need them for the upcoming wars. We will need long wars so lets get a focus on that. Let the other AI build wonders for us so they get more GP and hopefully some they will settle.

I know we can't build all wonders, so we want to emphasize ones with the most benefit to use.

Parthenon and National Epic are really big for us. Getting both will give us several more GP before game end.
Taj is major, as it will be the *only* way for use to get a GA with the rule set.
We *need* anything that helps with happy (Notre Dame).
Along with culture (Sistine will give us more culture in every city with the settled specialists). Could save us a GP or two if we get an extra border expansion.

I am glad to let the AI get wonders that offer us little benefit.

Ok we are one more turnset of peace completed. I hope the next sound will begin with the trumpets of war sounded against england.

Turn Log

T196 Trade Construction to Sury for Monarchy and 40 gold. Its monopoly was over.
T197 Axe done in Ankara start a Cat. Axe Done in Edrine start Jew Temple
T198 Archer Done in Bursa Start Spy. GS born in Washington
T199 Whip in Temple in Edrine 4 3 pop stacking anger.
T200 Sal asks us to stop trading with Persia. Diplomatically I want to say yes but That would cut off Ankara from Empire so NO.
T201 Vicky begs us to turn Jew, I say NO. Start a Temple Jewish in Ankara
T202 Music Done GA sent to Front. Start to Tech Feudalism at 100% gold. Spy done in Bursa start Spearman.
T203 Whip in Temple in Ankara.
T204 Start Ax in Ankara
T205 Saladin declares war on Mao and asks for our help. I agree. Saladin up to pleased. Sury gets -1 Diplomacy. Due to Darius as a closed border shield we should not see any units but we need to be on the lookout for peace between them. AP is done in York, We vote for Willhelm Von Orange.

Workers focused on Mines around Bursa and roads.

I teched at 100% gold the entire time. We have a decent reserve at 350 gold. My plan was to hoard gold til we could steal MC from Darius and then switch to Machinery and burn down the treasury.

Vicky is 16 turns from her next great person in Notthingham which is not a city we are targeting.

Istanbul is 9 turns from Parthenon and we still have a monopoly on aesthtics.

We have pretty decent army ready. Enough to take York I believe. Our power rating is higher than Vicky now.

Things are looking good. We should be able to take at least 2 cities soon from the english and even a third looks promising. The jewish holy city is a tasty target :) Nice turnset Cree.

Cree (just played)
Lkendter (up) ??
Pholkhereo (on deck)
Killroyan (up) ??

Killroyan was that a skip or swap for you?

I will be able to play maybe wednesday but I can surely play on thursday. So if anybody wants to play a turnset in between that is fine by me.

OK - skip then.

I can play today, and then Pholkhereo will be up. Then you can pick up your next turn.

I cancel the worker building a fort near Istanbul. No idea what the goal is. I suspect a bad click.

The Parthenon is in 8 and next GP in 18. That will drop after completion.

I look, and I can't see a reason to delay the war. I quickly grab Konya back. I snag the English worker on the gems, and throw our warrior in a position to hopefully snag the second one. Our economy tanks big time and we are bleeding 9 gold at zero percent.
(IT) Willem wins the AP vote.

490 AD
I snag another English worker.
I capture Canterbury. I promptly have our scientist join the city.
Healing is going to be a pain since we can't create medic3 units. I want to get some units promoted to heal quickly.

550 AD
China lost a scout that got too close to Ankara.
We are now bleeding -17 a turn. We have a good cash cushion, but once Canterbury comes out of revolt we need to start spread Christianity. Fighting wars is hard with this type of cash flow.

565 AD
The English lose a scout by Ankara giving us our first general. Somehow killing a scout doesn't make the general seem worthy...
(IT) This is a total RNG screw over. An English revolt occurs in Canterbury and Konya. Canterbury just ended the capture revolt this turn.

580 AD
(IT) We add the Parthenon to our list of wonders.

595 AD
The bombardment of York begins. With having walls, even 6 catapults will need a bit.
(IT) I really hate giving away free tech, but I give currency to the Dutch. We don't need him to join England vs. us.

610 AD
We steal metal casting from Persia. Istanbul gets a forge queued up after the Jewish temple (+2 hammers).

625 AD
The walls of York have finally come down.
Konya is back again, but a spy killed all progress on a monastery to get some culture into the city. Forest chop flushed down the drain.

640 AD
York only holds due to the sheer volume of units to kill. We only lost a single catapult.

I hate windows updates. Something hung Civ, and I had to reload the end of turn save.

655 AD
York falls to us. The artist is promptly joined into the city.

Summary:
Our troops are fortified in York to heal. I think we should push on at on and take all of England out. We have a general for one city. Istanbul produces the next GP in 2 turns. Nottingham will produce a GP in 3 turns. If England settles that GP anywhere, we are well on our way to getting another GP. The marble by Nottingham is very tasty with our variant.

Istanbul completes a forge in 6 turns. I queue up National Epic next. The chops in progress will cut a lot of the time for the next two buildings.

We need to start spreading Christianity to take advantage of the Christian shrine.

Awesome! Sounds like a very successful turn. At work so I cant inspect the save for details.

The fort was definetly a misclick, glad you caught it.

Sounds like we may need to start building wealth....bursa perhaps?

Also seems like a good thing I was hoarding gold even if I didnt anticipate needing it to pay for the war/troop supply. As long as we can avoid strike I vote for keeping the pressure on england and bandaid the economy as needed. If I recall london was a good production city so having a great general there is not a bad thing.

I recommend we run as many priests/engineers in capital as possible. They are certainly better than tundra mines.

Did we stay on Feudalism for tech?

I started forges in some cities. As you said, if it gets bad we can run wealth.

Once York leaves revolt our economy will be good with the shrine income. I can't recall if it had a market already. Pillage income from captured cities is buying us several turns of stretching.
If we get really desperate we can sell Aesthetics around for cash. I prefer to keep it a monopoly to give use more locked wonders. Sistine gives us +2 culture in every city for the settled GP.

Plus we can start spreading Christ around for more income. Maybe even whip the first missionary to get a strong shield city building them. +1 doesn't sound like much, but it will add up.

I stuck with feud for tech.

Poking around things look pretty good. Capturing some cities sure makes victory seem more concieveable.

I recommend a few changes and would love to hear some thought:

Edrine put jew missionary before Forge to spread to Bursa, hire priest
Bursa build wealth until Missionary comes then build the jewish temple/monastary for AP hammers.
Ankara give copper to Canterbury, hire priest, finish forge then back to units.
Canterbury, Christ missionary x2 one for Susa in Persia and one for WvO capital. Those two likely spread religion for us.
Istanbul should hire some specialists. I prefer a jewish monostary before NEpic but I'm likely crazy. I'm distracted by idea of getting the marble bonus for it from capture Nottingham.

I recommend we switch tech to HBackriding since 3 AI have fedualism and only sal has HB. Trying to Steal CoL from Darius in a bit will be welcome!

Diplowise I think we should continue to be Generous espcially to Sury, Sal amd WvO. I question if we want to go OR/jewish when we can. Likely we will get control of AP, plus the hammer and happy bonus is very welcome. WvO cemented as a friend to our northern border. Sury likley a wash diplowise due to Favorite civic and Sal likely still cautious due to shared war. Plus sal is busy with Mao. Mao and Darius allready dont like us and we want to war anyway.

Oh also trade our spare Gems to WvO for some wheat or gpturn. Surprising he doesnt have any!

LKendter, GREAT TURNSET! Looks like we are back in business although our economy is falling at this moment. However we will recover. If possible we should go on with England to conquer. We need more cities if we want to go on with this. Parthenon in, 3 cities in, AP in and temple of artemis. Wow. Metal casting stolen, YES! You sure do know how to get stuff going LKendter :)

I agree with Cree on the monastery first in the capitol if we get the marble bonus soon. With the monastery and the marble the turns lost on the NE will be compensated by the hammer boost and we get 10% extra science from the city. Win win if you ask me.

I will take a good look at the game tonight and then give some comments on diplomacy, trading, stealing, etc....

alright! i've got it, and will look to continue the war, and make a judgement on being able to finish off the english for good.

"Crosses thumbs that Nottingham will settle his GP" :)

the resolution to stop the war came, and i defied it (it passed pretty easily otherwise). now, we've got tons of unhappy and starvation, so wondering what everyone thinks about a revolt to monarchy for the short term.

The science rate hit will be horrible. And our capitol losses 3 happy faces from rep that monarchy can't offset. We will have to find alternate source to fix the happy issue.

Can't change it, but I don't think the English war was worth a defy. How do you even reset this issue. I've never defied the AP / UN except very late game went it was all wrapped out. This luxuries poor map leaves me baffled how to fix happy except to whip more happy buildings.

yeah, the more i think on it, the more defying it seems like a huge bit of :smoke:
