McCain pushes heavier U.S. involvement in Libya

The faster Gaddafi smoked out of Libya, the better off the country will be.

But why is that our problem? Unlike Afghanistan or even Iraq I can't see any US interests in Libya. Why are we spending all this money on someone else's civil war? We are laying off police left and right, are saddled with tons of foreclosures, denying people emergency funds from relentless flooding etc. and we decide to intervene in an affair that has nothing to do with us.

If we had national interests at stake I could see a cause for intervention.

McCain supported the peace loving Qaddafi.

To be fair McCain didn't call for more troops on the ground at all. In fact he urged against it.

It is virtually impossible to arm and train rebels if there are no US troops in Libya.

Perhaps McCain can convince some of his Panamanian countrymen to get involved in the operation.
