Okay, things look great. Qin only has Beijing, Xian, and his two marginal cities on Huayna's border left!
A few things:
1. Xian is in range of a counterattack from Beijing. Not that it's necessarily bad if Qin throws some longbowmen or something at us, but it's risky as we don't have religious scouting in that city.
2. Huayna has knights. We're going to need a couple of cossacks in the south to prevent him from attacking Tyre & Anasazi.
3. You know I found out last night? You can get ocean-going craft without ever getting Astronomy. I was on an Archipelago map that was completely connected by galley routes, so I didn't need Astronomy for trade routes. I skipped it, went to Combustion, and had destroyers & transports without ever being able to build galleons & frigates! If we're going for a military route, it's something to consider.
4. Speaking of which, now that Qin's basically gone, how would you all like to win? We have sufficient land right now, I think, for a pretty comfortable space ship win. We're way ahead in tech, and humans are much better at the production game. On the other hand, it will probably be more interesting to go for Domination. With Domination, I see two routes:
* Steel + Astronomy. Have our workers workshop everything once we get those two techs in place, and overrun the world with Cossacks, Cannons, and Grens. That force should be potent enough to take over the world before we see anything scarier than a Rifleman. I've never tried a "fast" conquest like that before, but it seems plausible (we're up Liberalism, Nationalism, Education, and Printing Press, and Gunpowder on
everyone, so everyone's at least 4 techs away from Rifling.)
* Play it safer. Get Combustion, Assembly Line, Railroad, Industrialism. Crank out a massive modern army using the huge production advantage we can get.
I also think we could get a pretty easy "fake" diplomacy win once we have Huayna's land. Grab biology, beeline to Mass Media, farm everything.
What do you think? And what do you think our next tech should be?
