Medieval European Mod II 2016-10-05

Not sure if it's a bad thing - it makes the game a bit more difficult when the AI teams up on you early. Besides, this is generally the feature of 31-players/1-continent map. On a random large map with 16 players this isn't really a problem, if you consider it a problem, that is ;)

I´m not saying that it is a bad thing, only pointing that you need to be more carefull on diplo/spying, otherwise you are going to get crush. (In my Germany game, after conquering France, Burgundy, Italy, Venece and Bohemia, I was dogpile by Rus, Tartars, Denmark, Castille, Byzantines and Bulgaria. I was overrun in 10 turns, lost all my italian posessions, lost southern France. Ouch.

Yeah, it works, that was the first version of the system. The problem is, you can pretty much remove all your distance corruption and the expansion and game itself become trivial. Government requirements were added to limit the number of buildable FPs from 10-30 to 3-4, so that it's not too easy.

True, I forgot about that.

Since Constantinople and impossible challenges were mentioned - try 1-city challenge :D It's not that difficult but very different (I think it's a type of game that was played by CFCers in vanilla Civ3, though I never participated). It may not be very exciting without military conquests, but it's also a fast, one-evening type of game, where your main weapon is diplomacy table.

I´m very fond to OCCs, I was thinking a OCC-AW with Constatinople. I rename myself Constantine VI and raze everything in my path. But I need to add some iron or horses near the city. Other idea is a 5CC on the Big map.

Trust me, i tried, but it seems everyone is jealous of my powerfulness and so hate me :p. I got kicked out of the balkans and am now struggling to survive the continuing assaults in northern italy and rome

Yeah i totaly wish i wer in your game.

Man, I wish I was in your game so that I could come to your aid and help bring down the pimp smack. There's nothing more admirable than facing impossible odds in the impending face of defeat...even if it ment my downfall, the courage of my troops would be victory enough. In fact, I, the emperor of Germany, would ride out with my troops personally to punish the treacherous scum of Europe. :king:

Yeah i totaly wish i wer in your game.

Nice to know that there are people who have my back :) even if they can't actually help me :p

I cant believe this slowed down so much.

How is the unit support supposed to work? It looks like workers are exempt from unit costs, but mercenaries that require gold resources do cost money to support. Is this intended?

Yes. You don't pay for Workers/Settlers (they're slaves/serfs after all ;) ) but everything else (except religious fanatics) has to be maintained and costs 2 gold per unit. This was balanced with government unit support schemes in order to make the military more costly and government-dependent, at the same time not to screw the AI up.

When I waited in line for my copy there were 18 of em spread around the world. Now, less then a month later an we see 500 copies dotting the globe!.

Congrats! Men! This would be such a honour for average joe like me, to see my work be praised by 500 from sea to shinin sea . ...500 and countin .....way to be!

Its the complet pedia I tell ay ;)

Ok, I did a delete and a reinstall, something must not've got unzipped last time. I tried a random map, and it started me with a VP location in a floodplain. Is VP scoring normal for random maps? I think I'll try the historical map as the Irish instead.

You can use whatever settings you like, VP, CTF etc. VP was on likely because you played a scenario with VP previously. Anyway, you can click on "default settings" button to reset them.

I have put in a few turns as Armenia at Emperor level - it is now 1188, turn 184.

This mod is great, no bug so far, great in-game feeling. Lots of units, buildings, techs - it is a long game to play, with very progressive military upgrades. AI turn is never too long despite 31 civs. The medieval feel is great, I like the ressources and the specific buildings attached to them, like the wonders.

One small glitch I noticed: under Feodalism, pedia says 5 units supported per town while reality seems to be 4.

As far as game-play is concerned, I have gotten myself trapped in a corner from the beginning. Surrounded by powerful neighbours I got distanced in science very early on and could never catch-up. I just finished the Viking Age ~1180. I had to give-in to all blackmailing to survive. I managed to build 8 cities around my capital city Dvin, occupying the Caucasian corridor from Caspian to Black Sea. Abbasids, Fatimids and Khazars are all very powerful; they took on the Turks at some point and I managed to grasp one of their cities in Georgia in 1156. The moslem caliphates then drove the Byzantines out of Anatolia but have not taken powerful Constantinople yet.

Russians, Magyars, Portuguese, Venetians and Scots have all been destroyed; in Europe Novgorod is kicking ass and overall leader in VP's.

My plan is to continue playing a very defensive game around my 10 mountainous cities. I have a sizeable army, 12 regiments of Armenian cavalry, a large population and some infrastructure built up. I lack tar and wheat but manage to import them from time to time. Offensive is out of the question since my neighbours are way too powerful and my lagging behind in science would label me as a massive coalition target.

Sounds a bit like my Serbia game

I'm currently playing as Castile and i have succeeded in uniting the Iberian peninsula under my flag (also the flag of the Holy Roman Empire), as well as italy and sicily and most of france (minus paris and the channel coastline)

i reached chivalry first (i think) and have now got many a chivalrous knight running around the place, and i have built both the Knights Templar and the Knights Hospitaller wonders. Unfortunately, i have been able to destroy the aragornese, italians or sicilians, since they have a couple of cities in africa that i dont really care about at the moment.

the fatamids and abbisids (sp?) are fairly powerful, as are the germans, and the bulgarians, which surprised me a little. the danes arent doing too badly either
